    About The Author

    While Sweet Blood Boils

When Lana Galyn woke up Saturday morning, she had no idea her world would be changed forever. Like usual, Lana Walked ten blocks to the corner store where she worked for an old couple named Jean and Jean Jeanason.

The couple had been running their old school penny store for fifty years. Lana was the only employee Mr. and Mrs. Jeanason had ever hired. After she woke up in the hospital five years ago with no memory of her life and only a piece of paper with her name written on it, the couple felt terrible about her situation and hired her as extra help.

They were like Lana's family now. The Jean's Always invited Lana to dinners, holidays, and church services and she always excepted, but most of the time she didn't make it. She preferred the quiet of her apartment. Lana wasn't a very social-able person. The only real time she spent with people was in the corner store. She listened to the fights outside and the men whistling to the prostitutes on the street corner and the never-ending wail of police sirens all day. Then, at the end of the day, Lana walked ten long city blocks home.

Her neighborhood wasn't the safest, but no one ever bothered her. In fact, the homeless loved her, the children adored her, the gangster respected her, and the women swooned over her. No matter how nonsocial-able she wanted to be someone always wanted to talk to her about there problems, but tonight was different. As she walked home no one was on the streets. There was no loud music, no cussing from the windows, no hooker running from their pimps, the gangs weren't fighting or playing dice. It was quiet and clear.

Lana had the eerie feeling that someone was watching her, like a prickle on the back of her neck. She looked over her shoulder and noticed that someone was walking about fifty feet behind her. They freakishly quiet and Lana couldn't make out their face, but she knew for sure that they didn't belong on this block. This person was dress way to nice. She was amazed no one was on the streets or sitting on a porch. Someone would have definitely jack them by now. Lana disregarded the weird feeling and continued to walk.

About ten mins later she looked behind her again to see if the person had turned off, but they were still there keeping pace with Lana. She was a block away from her apartment, so she sped up to a brisk stride as nonchalantly as possible. When she came to the door of her apartment complex, she ran inside and up the step as fast as she could. She stopped on floor four to catch her breath. Her heart was racing, and she had exerted more energy today then she had in years.

Lana was very fit. Her body held tightly. She had an athletic build, like a basketball player or a
