Hello! Let me introduce myself. I am that guy you may have seen somewhere. Or maybe you didn't see me but I was there somewhere in the back of your mind. You may I ask, How did I get there?

It was no accident. It was well planned! It could not have been any other way though it seemed like you were making choices.

Why this book? I am sharing a portion of that which you may not be aware of and a way to become aware of that which seems to keep slipping out of your grip.

Follow me as I share an adventure with you! It will not be one of climbing mountains or swimming the sea, it will be one into the depths of your being. Join me as I tell you a tale of a heroic journey that I and some others have made. Others are following us! It is a revolution of epic proportion!

You may dare to come along. I will tell you now it is not for the faint of heart.

    WHO IS THIS CHARACTER?

In the Allness that is, the Producer/Director established that there would be a Movie. The character Don McDougle was established to play a role in that Movie. It has been an ongoing series for over 65 of the years that were established as a way of distinguishing time in the Movie. In most of the episodes, The Allness that had manifested in the Movie did not realize that it was not the character. So it seems that all the different roles played by the character Don McDougle were designed purposefully by the Producer/ Director for the character to become aware that he was not the Allness, but just another actor in the Movie. The present episode finds our character living in Costa Rica. You may have seen him, but know that he is simply another character in the Movie—just as you are. It seems like the Movie is only for the purpose of all the seemingly separate characters to come to realize that they are not their character, but the Allness that has always been, unchanged and unchangeable.

    THE BEGINNING

"The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's a personal revolution, on an individual level. It's got to happen inside first."

    —Jim Morrison

This is a tale of a time in my life. It finds me living in the countryside in Texas. Layer by layer of the masks, the roles, the beliefs have been peeled off. I am on the brink of something I could never have planned or even conceived was possible. As you join me in this adventure, realize that you also may be in a similar experience. This is a tale of an inward journey. It started long ago. You will see that you also may have been on such a Journey.

I could at some point tell in more detail what the circumstances were that brought me to this place. For now, I will leave it for another time. I will say that having done many things, and finding them just another step along the way, the final undoing of the self is what we will discuss here.

In late 2006, I had left the construction/remodeling business to open an organic cafe with an outdoor entertainment venue. My wife did not support the idea, so I did it without her help. It was a time of change, both in the world of commerce and my own evolution. When I shut down the cafe, in late 2007, my wife and I were given the opportunity to live rent free on a fifty acre ranch outside Wimberley, Texas. My wife was more supportive of this venture. The new plan was to create a sustainable community. We lived there for about sixteen months before the owners put it on the market. It sold quickly and we found ourselves looking for the next phase. Having met a couple who had been living in Costa Rica, we decided to go there and see what the Universe had in store for us.

We book our flights to San Jose, Costa Rica in March 2009. This is the beginning of the end of one paradigm and the beginning of the story.

    THE LANDING

A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.

    —Albert Einstein

We had thought about driving down to Costa Rica and after investigating the cost and the time involved, we decided flying was the way to go. We had to decide what to take since we would not have all the space we had planned on in the station wagon we had bought for the trip. Reducing everything to a large backpack for each of us, my guitar and a laptop, we shopped for flights. We chose cheapest ones available. I don’t remember much about the flight though I do remember we had a layover somewhere. We arrived in Costa Rica mid afternoon on March 9, 2009.

We had a friend from Texas that had moved to Panama. He invited us to stay at his place for a couple weeks. Leaving customs and the airport, we were bombarded with taxi drivers offering us a
