Chapter 1 – Bella

BELLA WOKE FROM HER nap with a pounding headache after the most explosive dream ever. She was unable to recall where Salem was or what he was doing.

She knew in her heart tonight was the night she had to set Salem straight about a few things. First, no more coddling, and their mating needed to happen sooner rather than later. She needed him physically more than emotionally right now, her dragon was pushing her to mate. ‘Salem’ was what they both wanted, and they would have him tonight.

She slid out of bed and headed to the bathroom. It was time to shower and to get ready for what laid ahead; her talk with Salem.

No sooner had she reached into the hot steamy shower when she heard the alarm signal; someone was inside their home.

Salem, she called out, Is that you? Salem, where were you?

Nothing, no reply, and no sounds. She heard a noise again and this time shut off the water, grabbed her robe and walked out into the bedroom. With all these high-tech gadgets Salem’s parents had installed, she shouldn’t be freaking out right now. Had Salem set the alarm when he’d left?

On top of the dresser sat the monitor with the video feed from the living area and front door. So, she walked over to take a look.

There was nothing on the feed, and the noise had stopped.

Bella strolled back into the steamy bathroom and stepped into the shower turning the water back on.

Lathering her shampoo into her hair, she heard a sound again, and this time it was the bathroom door. Bella's heart started hammering in her chest. Her eyes were blinded by the shampoo dripping down into them. The steam was thick in the bathroom, but she scented a male. And it’s not Salem.

She tried to keep her heartbeat steady, unsure of who had joined her in the bathroom. She tried to act like it was Salem. Hoping it would keep her heart rate steady, and not show any fear. She knew what she had to do, she just needed to wait for a second or two.

She hears the shower door open, and whoever it is, is now inside with her.
