About this ebook

Jesus declared that healing is the children's bread. It is the divine right of every believer to walk in divine healing, divine health and divine life. However, as long as there are questions in your mind as to whether or not it is God's will to heal, your faith will be hampered from receiving what Jesus legally purchased for you.
Sickness is the offspring of its parents, satan and sin. It came into the earth on the wings of Adam's sin and afflicted all of humanity. Jesus came into the earth as savior, redeemer and healer. The Scripture says, "Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit's power and went about doing good, healing all those who were oppressed of the devil." The devil is the oppressor and Jesus is the healer. Never forget this!
Since Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, He is still anointed to heal. The ministry of Jesus, today, is still a miraculous, healing ministry as it was when he first walked the streets of Jerusalem and the shores of Galilee.
This book will answer the important healing questions and reveal God's thoughts towards your wellness. This book will eliminate doubts, banish fear and boost your faith to receive your inheritance. As you meditate upon the truths of these chapters, you will discover...
Did healing pass away with the apostles?
Is God glorified through sickness?

    About the Author

    Introduction

When it comes to healing, people who have been believers and even Spirit-filled for a long time have all kinds of preconceived ideas and sacred cows that need to be kicked over and eradicated. As long as there are questions in your mind concerning healing, you will be double-minded. The consequence of double-mindedness, according to James, the Lord’s brother, is, Let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord (James 1:7). Double-mindedness is the badge of doubt, and doubt is the thief of God’s blessings. Never forget:

-Sin separates you from the Person of God.

-Fear separates you from the power of God.

-Doubt and unbelief separate you from the promises of God.

With this book, it is my intention to break your doubts and fears when it comes to healing. I want to drive into your mind and spirit the fact that God is not the author of sickness. As John Alexander Dowie, the great healing evangelist, said many years ago, Sickness is the foul offspring of its father, satan, and mother, sin. But just as sickness came in on the wings of the first Adam’s sin, Jesus, the last Adam, is your Healer. He is as committed to your healing as He is to your salvation. Jesus said healing is the children’s bread, and He also said, Give us this day our daily bread, meaning healing is our daily bread, and you have the right to be healed.

In this book, I will answer, scripturally, the most common questions people have about healing and dismantle false theological and traditional beliefs that have so ingrained themselves in people’s thinking and consequently robbed them of their right to be healed. This will help you to eliminate doubt, unbelief, and fear in regards to healing once and for all. Expect your faith to be sharpened to receive your healing. Whether you are young or old, you can experience healing now. It belongs to you.

    Chapter 1

    The Flagellum of Disease

In the New Testament, you will find several Greek words for sickness, and they all have important meanings. But first I want to draw your attention to one specifically, from the Gospel of Mark:

For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. Mark 3:10

And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague… And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Mark 5:29, 34

I want to draw your attention to the word plague. Many times we miss what the Bible is saying because we read it with a Western mind-set and think we know what a word means, and therefore, we do not dig deeper to uncover the revelation hidden in that word. You see, the New Testament was not originally written in English or French, but in Greek, and the Greek language is a very rich language that can convey so many different things that the English language simply cannot. One word we think we know is plague. According to the English dictionary, a plague is a contagious disease that spreads rapidly and kills many people. However, that is not what the New Testament writer was trying to convey.

    The Whip of Disease

The word plague is the Greek word mastix, which means a whip; literally the Roman flagellum for criminals; scourging. According to ancient archives, Rome had many cruel and vicious forms of punishment for criminals. One of those forms was the Roman scourge. The Romans would whip and scourge a condemned criminal before he was put to death. The Roman scourge, also known as the flagrum or flagellum, was a short whip made of two or three leather thongs, usually from an oxhide. The leather thongs were knotted, with a number of small pieces of metal, usually zinc and iron, attached at various intervals. The leather also would be knotted with sharp scraps of bones from a ram’s head, or heavy indented pieces of bronze, and at times the Roman flagellum, known as scorpion, would have metal fishing hooks at the end to tear the flesh quickly through deep lacerations. The criminal was made to stoop or laid flat and tied to a post to receive quick, deep lashes from the shoulders to the waist. This violent scourging would quickly and viciously tear the skin, exposing the ribs, muscles, and internal organs.

It is worth noting that sickness is associated with a whip or scourge. Therefore, as with the Roman scourge, the trajectory of sickness is to tie you down, bind you, flog you, tear you down, or tear out your flesh until death sets in. The word excoriate comes from the word scourge but literally from the Latin Excoriat, meaning skinned. The verb excoriate is a compound of ex, meaning out or from, and corium, meaning skin, hide. So, in essence, the whipping was to flay the flesh to bring to the point of death. The question that must be answered is, Who is tying us down with sickness to flog us—God or satan? If it is God, then we should bite our lips and take it. But if it is satan, we have every right to resist, refuse, and reject the disease. Do we have to be at the whipping post and be at the mercy of the flagellum of diseases? No sir! A thousand times no! Jesus Christ, the Lover of our soul and the perfect Substitute, paid the ultimate price for our sins and our sicknesses. He bore the flagellum of diseases and sins literally for us. Paul said he was made a curse for us" to redeem us (Galatians 3:13). Isaiah and others prophesied it hundreds of years before Jesus came on the scene.

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. Isaiah 50:6

But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man. Isaiah 52:14, NLT

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6

The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows. Psalm 129:3

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. Matthew 20:17-19

And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. Mark 15:15

    Pharaoh—A Type of satan

As you can see from those verses, Jesus was scourged. He gave his back and received the vicious stripes on our behalf at the whipping post. He was striped, and Peter said, By [His] stripes ye were healed. Therefore, today, since Jesus has already born the stripes and the flagellum of diseases, there is no reason for you to once again be flogged by sickness and disease. If sickness is attacking your body, you must understand it is not God taking you to the whipping post, but rather satan. We can see that clearly in the Old Testament, which gave us pictures, types, and shadows of the new covenant.
