Lindsey Gray

Lindsey Gray spends her days and most of her nights creating characters, over thinking everything, and trying to remember all the things on her massive to-do list. One thing that is always at the top of her list is writing something she hopes others will enjoy. Her journey into authordom began when her first novel was published in 2010. Through trials, tribulations, and learning how to work well with others in the author sandbox, she has found a joy she never thought she would know. Her many lists also include mothering her two children, devoting time to her handsome hubby, formatting novels for other authors, and hosting her weekly radio show, Gray Matters, on TMV Cafe Internet Radio.

Thank you to my older sister, Renea, for letting me tag along on her school trip to New York City. That trip gave me my first look at the Big Apple, an experience I will never forget.

Daniel Digby is cursed by his good looks. After years of sexual harassment, he’s convinced wearing a wedding ring is the answer to fending off unwanted attention.

CiCi Newport is cursed by her family’s money. When men look her way, all they see are dollar signs. After two years, her no dating rule is still in place.

After a chance meeting, they’re entwined for the holidays. What starts as attraction might just be the holiday cure they’re looking for.

Men suck. CiCi Newport blew a lock of her brunette hair away from her face before gulping the rest of her champagne.

    Not all men, I hope.

She glanced over in the direction from which the male voice had come. It was taking her a few seconds to focus in her inebriated state. After CiCi blinked a few times over her pale green eyes, she was able to see the person before her.

Large feet were encased in knee high, black, leather boots with shiny silver buckles. Red velvet trousers were neatly tucked into the top of each boot. A matching red velvet coat with intricate silver buttons and white fur trim fit snug around his round belly. A real beard of snowwhite wisps fell to the middle of his chest. The same white hair flowed from his head and curled above his shoulders. His small smile, which was accompanied by his rosy cheeks and twinkling blue eyes, made her believe she was staring at the genuine article.

Santa? she questioned with a slight slur.

For the purpose of this conversation, let’s say that is true. He pulled out a chair and took a seat. All the partygoers from the annual Christmas Gala held in her late father’s honor had taken their leave. Only CiCi and Santa were remaining. What seems to be troubling you, dear?

She placed her empty champagne flute on the table with a sniffle and launched into the story of her last few days.

I know I have no right to complain. I have friends and family I love. I have enough money to live more than comfortably for the rest of my life. Tonight was supposed to be the beginning of my happily ever after. A tear ran down her cheek.

Santa pulled a handkerchief from his coat pocket and offered it to her.

Thanks. She wiped the soft cloth beneath her eyes.

Looks as though someone gave you something to complain about.

She nodded before she began. I met Jensen at this gala two years ago. We’ve been inseparable since. There were hints for months that he was going to propose tonight. Three days ago, I found out he cleaned out my personal safe. He stole my mother’s jewelry, emergency cash, and some mementos from my father. It’s all gone. I found out this morning he’s been arrested. Turns out he’s been seeing another woman for over a year, and they’ve been planning this for months. And to top it off, I had to explain his absence all night and hear how much he was missed. I smiled and nodded like a fool.

    Hence the ‘men suck’ comment.

Yeah. CiCi turned her head to find an
