Author

Lindsey Gray

Lindsey Gray spends her days and most of her nights creating characters, over thinking everything, and trying to remember all the things on her massive to-do list. One thing that is always at the top of her list is writing something she hopes others will enjoy. Her journey into authordom began when her first novel was published in 2010. Through trials, tribulations, and learning how to work well with others in the author sandbox, she has found a joy she never thought she would know. Her many lists also include mothering her two children, devoting time to her handsome hubby, formatting novels for other authors, and hosting her weekly radio show, Gray Matters, on TMV Cafe Internet Radio.

To those who know the true meaning of the season and share the joy with others.

The harsh chill of the New York City winter bit at his cheeks as he entered his uncle’s brownstone-based law office.

Mitch! His aunt, Marsha, greeted him from behind the mahogany desk that adorned the foyer. I didn’t think we’d get a chance to see you before the move. Her tiny frame surrounded his larger one. She was dwarfed his six foot four physique by more than a foot and at least a hundred pounds.

Uncle Ken invited me for dinner. Didn’t he tell you? Mitch sighed as he released her. He had such mixed emotions about the important step he was about to take. Dinner with his aunt and uncle was really the last thing he wanted to do at the moment.

It was the Monday before Thanksgiving, the day before he would move from his own eight-million-dollar brownstone which he once called home. He was not looking forward to saying goodbye, or the upcoming holiday season.

He told me we were going out for dinner. He’s on his way back from court. Nasty divorce. So sad, she’s such a sweet girl. Marsha tutted to herself with a slight shake of her head.

Ever since Mitch’s own nasty divorce was finalized six months before, Uncle Ken had turned into the matchmaker from hell. An endless supply of divorcees showed up in his path, all with Kenneth Turner’s business card burning holes in their pockets.

Not another one. Fucking Christ, the one last week practically mauled me the second she walked up to me! He let out an exasperated breath as he sunk deep into the nearby couch.

Mitchell Alan Turner! I know you are thirty-five years old, but I can still put you over my knee! Marsha’s face reddened with each step toward the couch.

Mitch cowered at the appearance of the tiny fury which rose within his beloved aunt. Sorry.

She composed herself and took the seat beside him, her hand slipped into his. He knows how lonely you are. This move is taking you back to your brother, but so far from who you are here.

He felt that lump lodge in his throat, acid billowed in the depths of his gut. He wasn’t that man anymore. It had been taken from him, stolen by the one he trusted the most. The tattered mess that was left of his existence had to remain in New York City. He couldn’t let it follow him into
