About this ebook

An adult short story romance. Megan Cartwright was an uptight Insurance Adjuster for a large Insurance company. Joe Payne was the maintenance man in her building. When they get stuck in an elevator late one night, it was like night meeting day. Two opposites, very attracted to one another but skeptical that they could make a relationship work between them. Will she put her snooty-patooty ways away and let her hair down long enough for Joe to show her how to really relax and enjoy herself?

Hi friendsI'd like to ask a favor, not just for me but for all writers. PLease when we offer a free book, it would be wonderful if you'd take the time to rate the book. This doesn't take much time out of your day and authors really apreciate your time to do this. I know not everyone wants to sit down and write a review, but rating the book will help as well. And a big thanks to all who do this. You never know how much an author appreciates you taking the time to do this.I finally finished The Car Stalker. Hope you'll check it out. This is the second book in the stalker series. Like I said mystery is much different from romance all though there are elements in romance in my stalker books too. Today I finished an another book in my series of Vets coming home, Better Every Day. This book takes the angle of when family interrupts your plans. When a one-night stand is much more. I love this story as it hits home. So two new books out now and more coming.I'm taking the time to write while confined at home. But lack of seeing people outside, and living alone all the time is not new to me. I've got lots of stories to tell so be on the lookout for my newest releases. You might check out my Searchin g for You Indian romance on Amazon too. There are several new free books for you enjoyment, since your stuck at home. Home you enjoy them.As for a bio, suffice it to say, I'm a Texan tried and true. I have grown children and grandchildren and already some great-grandchildren. I've done multi jobs in my lifetime giving me a variety of experiences to write and talk about. I've done many different kinds of work from Texas Instruments, to City of Garland, to working for the Wylie Independent School District. I've worked for a hat factory, filing insurance claims, secretarial work, to waitress work. My writing reflects my varied background. Another note I've had a in home day care for twenty years too. So when I write about something I have a general knowledge of it too, which is a real bonus for me. Just like my public work, my writing varies too from contemporary to historical, I write romance, thrillers, children's. A lot of people might say gee, that's a lot of different jobs, and it is, but, I've learned from them all, and I use that experience in my writing.I want to thank all the readers over a length of time that have tried some of my books. Chapter One

It was a busy morning in the Turner Towers, and Megan Cartwright wanted to try to get home early tonight. She'd worked hard all last night so that tonight she could get home early for the weekend. Her feet were killing her since she'd been filling for the past hour on her feet, on the bare polished wooden floors. As an Insurance Adjuster, in the catastrophe claims, and it kept her busy, she made a comfortable income, but she really hated her job.

She slipped out of her heels and ran her feet over the soft carpet under her desk as she finally sat down once more. It felt so good, why couldn't she work barefoot? She grabbed her head and closed her eyes. Anxious to get home, she grabbed her purse. Not that there was anything going on at home.

She sighed a bit too heavily, then glanced around to see if anyone was looking. There was only one other girl still in the office.

What was at home, she asked herself? Why was she so anxious to be there? Because it was home, and she often longed to be there, then here.

It wasn't that she hated her job. Only on some days. She missed the lack of stress and the peace that filled her when she was home. She'd never considered herself a homebody until recently. But it was fact, her job was definitely getting to her.

Divorced early in life, Megan had lived the last five years alone with her cat, Tabby. She supposed she was in a real rut when the only thing she had to look forward to was her cat, Tabby. Tabby was a beautiful Gray British Shorthair.

She didn't want to think about her loneliness right now. No, right now, all she wanted was to just get home and relax, kick off her high heels and not think about work for two whole days. Friday's were always rough in the office, it seemed everything had to be done on that day. And then her boss, always expected her to take a load of work home with her too. Today, she wanted to get out of the office before he even suggested it.

Wishful thinking, she shrugged when her boss buzzed her. Her boss called her in his office. She wasn't anxious to see him. She knew what he wanted. But today she planned on asserting some of her own self esteem.

Funny ten years ago, she couldn't wait to be called into his office and take a load of work home with her to impress him on Monday mornings. That was ten years ago. How naïve she had been back then. There had been some promotions but not as many as she had hoped for.

So now, her eagerness had dissipated.

Megan, glad I caught you. Her boss smiled, not really looking at her, but that smug glance said he had a mountain of work for her to do this weekend. Short-handed in the office, she knew what he was about to ask of her.

She stiffened her spine just a tad.

She studied him a minute. How would she describe him to her few friends? Short, fat, bald, with a roving eye for all the new and young office clerks that came and went so easily. His constant flirting irritated Megan. As far as she was concerned he was too old, too fat, and too bald to be a playboy, but the problem was, he didn’t' know it.

Megan had put up with it long ago, but she never liked the man, as he'd quit hitting on her now that a younger bunch of girls littered the office. She silently wondered why men that worked in offices were either terribly shy or like her boss, thinking he was an Adonis to women. It nearly made her smile.

Was there something wrong with her? She didn't like her job or her boss. When had she come to that decision she wasn't sure, but today, it's how she felt.

Oh? She knew that tone. He wanted her to take some work home, and that was not what she wanted to worry with. It was the weekend and she looked forward to nothing more than having a few home-cooked meals and laying with her cat, watching a bit of television and catching up on some needed sleep.

"Can you go over these accounts over the weekend and make sure that the contracts are right and signed
