About this ebook

Traditionally, leather is an anniversary gift. One couple is about to take that in a very non–traditional way...

Rory and Lily have been married for five years, and they have special plans to celebrate their anniversary: a little game involving a collar and a leash and some silky underwear...for Rory. A little light bondage can be just for fun – but beyond the play, there is love, bone deep and bright as the stars.

Sky High, Bone Deep - N.M. Harris

    Chapter 1

‘Drinks tonight at the Pony?’ asked Senior Sergeant Belaton in the change room. ‘They’ve got karaoke.’ He grinned like that was an enormous treat.

Inspector Rory Stewart shook his head as he hauled his gym bag out of the locker. ‘Another night, Tony. I’ve got plans this evening.’

‘Oh, that’s right. Anniversary with the missus, isn’t it?’

    ‘Yep. Five years.’

‘Guess you’d be in the doghouse if you bailed on her, eh?’

Rory grinned like that was an inside joke, albeit one the senior sergeant didn’t get. ‘Guess I would,’ he said, ‘but do you seriously think I’d rather look at your ugly mug than go home to Lily?’

‘You could close your eyes and listen to me sing. I’m like Pál Szécsi, I am.’

‘And who’s he to his mum?’

‘Cretin. He’s a Hungarian pop legend. I grew up on his music.’

‘And look at the man you are today.’

‘Says the man who quotes Britpop lyrics and pretends it’s culture. Well, go off and enjoy your big ol’ evening with the ball and chain. See if I care.’

Rory grinned. ‘It’s just a quiet night in, a spot of dinner, a drop of champagne. Lily’s mum has Gloria until tomorrow, so we can have a lie in as well.’

    ‘Living it large, I see.’

‘You’ve no idea. Good night, Tony.’

    ‘Night.’

With a spring in his step, Rory slung his bag over his shoulder and left the station, ready to celebrate a milestone with his soulmate.

‘Big plans for the night, Lily?’

Lily Stewart looked up from her forensic pathology report on that poor woman found dead in her home. An aneurism rather than a blow to the head, which had actually been a post-mortem injury, incurred as the woman collapsed. It was sad, but less horrible than foul play. At least the family would have that much comfort.

‘What makes you say that?’ Lily sounded puzzled.
