Well, as long as you know what you're getting before you get into this (I did not), it's not that bad. It's published by Harlequin which basically sums up the story. There is some supernatural in it, and some detective stuff, (sort of)... but essentially it's a romance novel: man and woman meet, fall in love within 3 days, lots of sex, lots of "how can we make this work with my magic powers/job/history/interference from ghosts...", a little bit of story. For a fantasy/scifi or a detective story it's worth 2.5 stars, for a Harlequin it's probably closer to a 4.

Second in the Raintree series and actually better than Linda Howard's introduction. Jones makes much lighter work of the mythology and simply gets us to accept that this man has special powers and its genetic, his family has special powers and now can we get on with the romance... I liked him and liked the heroine (how can anyone resist someone called Moonbeam) Didn't find the magic baby too annoying. It was fun but not a keeper.

I enjoyed the second of this series more than the first. This is the story of Gideon Raintree, a detective determined to stay single, both in his private and police life. He's partnered with Hope Malory who challenges him both in work and in his determination to stay single. As they investigate some deaths linked to the Raintree clan he's torn between telling her what he knows and how much she would believe. It's a fun series of books, I liked Gideon and his determination to do the best he can for the ghosts he sees, including the spirit that keeps appearing, telling him that she's his daughter. I intend to look up more books by Linda Winstead Jones on the strength of this one. She handles the balance of romance, paranormal and thriller well.
