About this ebook

‘Aren’t you human?’ Jack asked rhetorically, lost in a haze.

‘No longer,’ She sneered. ‘You, my friend have created a predator even more vile and malicious than yourself. I, a super predator have pushed you humans out of the royalty of the food chain. I am at the top and humans, I’ve discovered are a pretty good damn snack!’

Carla Pearce

I'm an independent erotica author who lives with her incredibly supportive husband and our baby, Nina, the dog. My fascination with human sexuality and everything erotic and sensual goes beyond writing. Having studied arts taught me to think creatively and concentrate on what's truly important in life - love and passion. Oh, and periodically some raw, carnal sex, of course, just to keep the fire burning.

It was supposed to be a quiet day at the lab. Supposed to, or so Jack had thought.

Jack had woken up covered in a cold sweat some three hours before his first morning alarm was due to go off. He couldn’t shake off an irritating feeling that something wasn’t quite right . His heart seemingly beating at a thousand beats per minute, he sprung out of bed already stressed. Jack’s intense obsession with numeric series of threes had pushed him to neurotically group items in trinities. Nevertheless, he hated mornings and usually had trouble waking up even after three consecutive reminders. Jack walked anxiously from one end of the bed to another, still sweating profusely.

Everything is all right. Everything is all right. Jack, get your shit together.

He mumbled under his breath, trying to calm himself but he struggled to get his thoughts together. He grabbed his cell phone.

    No new messages.

The phone was clear. Everything seemed normal yet he had to fight with himself to maintain his composure. The worst thing was that he couldn’t even pinpoint why.

The moon shone through the opened window, inundating the entire space with a sparkling gray – softly bluish light. The tiny dust motes reflecting moonlight on the desk appeared to move around freely in the air, peacefully roaming around and not giving a dime about Jack’s internal paranoid trip. A sudden breeze entered the room, covering him in goosebumps. He grabbed a black jacket with a company logo. SymianPharma on the back in bold brocaded neon orange letters . Zipping up the felt freebie and coughing, he turned on the desktop lamp, scrambling for his sleeping pills. His inexplicable rush of anxiety wasn’t going anywhere. He finally located a small white bottle and took half of his daily dose of the contents.

Sitting down on the side of the bed, Jack stared through the open window for ten minutes while he waited for the pills to kick in. He then grabbed a napkin from the nearby nightstand and wiped off the numerous sweat drops running down his forehead. His heartbeat slowly returned to
