A Crown of His Loving Kindness

Like a simmering stream in the hot, barren, and dry desert, flowing from the oasis, giving life to the cool Palm trees, so providing a refreshing haven, for nomads & their flocks: Or like starlight and moonlight under the big canopy of dark nights ! So it is with the Supernatural and the Miracles of God, making their presence felt, from the inception of Man, since Adam and Eve, in the Splendor of the Garden of Eden !

The relationship between God the Mankind, continued despite Adam's Fall; God still yearned for us, spanning rainbows over the Sky
saying, I Love you, culminating in His sending Jesus Christ, His Son
to a cruel death on the Cross, redeeming us from the penalty of
our sins 2000 years' ago!

Now, we are made right with God, reconnected and having fellowship
with Him, and with one another! At times He intervened in Nations
and individuals alike, stoking the fires of Spiritual Renewals, as the Light
is low, and the Fire of Love and Zeal is waning!

It is not surprising therefore, when God, moves Supernaturally and in the Miraculous in our lives, when we call upon Him in earnest, as in a
crisis! He says,I will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews13:5b) ! And, as if to dispel any lingering doubt or fear, again God says:

GO! therefore into All the World.....and LO! I Am
With you always, even unto the Ends of The Earth!
(Matthew 28 : 20)

Born in the slums of Brunei water village, son of a taylor, raised in the country farm of Kuala Belait, started school at late age, stole money for gambling, addicted to cinema movies, a “ham” & abject failure in Chinese school, no academic degrees to boast about—by a touch of Grace God SAVED by soul, I saw a vision in a heavenly lightning, a “Call” to preach the Love of God, I had earlier traversed East & West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia, pastored in the Bethel Church, Brunei for while, assisted pastor Honhke at Gabba, Brisbane & later pastored for 7 years in Gabba” Four Square Church”, ministered a few times in “Canaan Church” in Vancouver, Canada, shared on Christian Radio Programs in Cebu, Philippines to potential 65 million listeners, a Cebu youth pastor claimed “Bernard, you are the fi rst Chinese missionary to preach in our Church” @ “International Gospel Centre”, I sponsored the 70 “disaster—affected” destitute orphans in Leyte, Mindanao Island, I helped run an Evangelistic crusade in the mountain-church of Tipolohon, Mindanao, & a Revival broke out, the little church was packed with curious city folks! A lady pastor earlier remarked: “We have been praying for anEvangelist for 15 years, would you be our Evangelist”? I was moved to sponsor hundreds of children in “Feed The Hungry” programs. On refl ection, I have been ministering in Philippines for 10 years or so in my itinerary there. As for Supernatural Interventions, I witnessed for the fi rst time, in a near fatal car accident, how God transported my car from a one-way Gateway Freeway to Logan, to another one-way Freeway, going the opposite way to Brisbane, Qld. being hundreds of metres apart, landed my car safely without any damage,dents or dins! Thank You God! Lastly, God allowed me the privilege, to lead my own stroke-strickened father to pray & confess his need of God’s Salvation in Jesus, after years’ of antagonism against God, & having devils banished from terrifying him at his sick bed. All Glory to God for His abundant Grace & Mercy for his eventual Salvation! Amen.

DEDICATIONS

I like to dedicate my second book namely, A Crown Of His Loving-Kindness a sequel to the first book, an analytic overview could be most helpful, for some of the most phenomenal episodes that I ever experienced in my life as a Christian, Pastor, Missionary, in acknowledgment of the Wondrous Grace of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

And then, I like to pass on an enduring legacy of Faith, Love, and the unfailing Loving-Kindness and Tender Mercies of God to me, to my father and to my brothers and sisters, half brothers and sisters, on my mother’s, and my father’s side of the family! It is my prayer that this book will Inspire and will impart such a lasting insight into the attributes of God’s Goodness, Faithfulness And Mercy, according to the Great Precious Promises of God!

Lastly, I like to share with my acquaintances, friends, and Community at large the Privilege and Joy of knowing God’s Redemptive benefits:His Forgiveness, Salvation, Protection, Divine Deliverance, as we call on Him in Earnest, putting our trust in His Covenant Promises as established in His Death & Resurrection! We’ ll find that God is Faithful and True in what HE has said in His Word! One such powerful promise JESUS made to us ALL is:

LO! I Am with you always,

even unto the End

Of The World!"

Prologue

My second book, A Crown Of His Loving-Kindness, is in a sense, an extension of my first book, viz A Touch Of His Grace, if you like, a sequel to the previous publication! The subject of this book,His Loving-Kindness best translated in English, derived from the Hebrew word Hesed carries the concept of Love and Kindness, found in the Old Testament Scriptures, namely, Psalms Ch 103: 4b, where the writer enumerates some of God’s choicest ‘benefits’ (blessings) to the potential readers to anticipate, and appropriate the redemptive covenant, to be made possible by the ‘Redeemer’ Jesus Christ, by Our faith in His death on the Cross for our Sins followed by His Physical resurrection, thus making us ‘Right’ with God again, as foretold by Isaiah the Prophet, (Isaiah 53: 4-6; Psalms103: 4) and affirmed by Apostle Paul: Christ died, was buried, and arose, like the Bible said (1Cor15: 3f)

There were some perceived skepticism as to the integrity and veracity of certain genre of narratives pertaining to the Supernatural in my first book!They were out of this world ! And they were! I know they were the interventions of the Grace and Mercy of God! There was not a scintilla of doubt to me – they were not a product of myth or fancy! In fact, many people in America I heard through some Christian TV Channels, as far back as two, three days’ ago, that this phenomena are on rise, like the good old days started in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2 and onwards – could it be a fulfillment of the Prophet Joel where he prophesied, in the latter days I will pour out my Spirit upon ALL Flesh; they shall see Visions and dream Dreams(Joel 2:1f)?

Back to my subject under discussion, I would not have been able to create such divine acts of undeserved blessings, in a million years! It wasn’t magic, or some deceptive spins! Not only some of my friends found it hard to come to grips with; even I myself was astounded, and stunned by such mercies, defying ALL understanding!

For these reasons, I feel I ought to respond, however feeble it may be, at trying to analyze, and explain, to the best of my knowledge, these Miraculous Events, where I was a Witness and Party to, at the time of such happenings! Where possible, Bible Scriptures will be brought to bear on these events, and the Principles of Physics and basic Laws of Nature where applicable. It is open for deliberations and one is welcome to be NOT only an observer, BUT also able to make one’s own deduction !?

AMEN!

Chapter 1

PLEDGE TO MY FATHER

When my father passed away about one month later, shortly after he prayed and confessed Jesus Christ, thanking Him for forgiving his Sins—and having been in the Brunei Royal Hospital for treatment for some time! When he went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, I had absolutely no doubt he was in Heaven! Why? The facts below were testimony to his Salvation :-

• By His ‘confession of Faith in Jesus’,

• By the ‘peace’ and radiance on his face,

• By the sweet smile he manifested,

• by the absence of resentment against Jesus’ Good News,

• By his request for more prayer for him, because he felt so good after 1st prayer,

• By the fact his Fears of the devils were gone,

• By the fact that the devils never returned again,

• By the fact that he became chirpy and smiling big, big smiles…..

When I first received this thunderbolt from Ivan, my half brother, while I was working in the afternoon shift with the Queensland Railways as a Train Examiner, I was devastated, as father was recovering so well when I last was with him in the Brunei Hospital! It undoubtedly drives home the fact that life on Earth is so fragile! The Psalmist was well aware of this when he said, Our years… are is a ‘watch’ in the night, as a ‘flood’…as a ‘sleep’… as the ‘grass’… for All our DAYS are passed away… and we spend All our YEARS as a tale that is told … Psalms 90: 4-9)!

Nevertheless, being the good God that He is, His advice through the wisest King (Solomon) should be a gentle reminder, Remember thy Creator, in the days of thy youth while the evil days come not: Fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of Man(Ecclesiastes12:1-13)!We know the irony, the10 Commandments meant to be kept, actually magnify our shortcomings, try hard as we may! Only Jesus can fulfill the Law completely! That’s why St. John said,The Law was given by Moses, but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1: 17) And now St. Paul chips in,By Grace are ye Saved through Faith, not of works, it is the Gift of God(Eph2:8)! We, as fallen creatures, like my father, gratefully accept Jesus’ Love and Forgiveness from Sins thereby experience wonderful Salvation as my father did! If God can Save my father after a life time of hatred of Jesus, He can Save anyone of us, because He died on the Cross to atone for our Sins! We may say from the heart,Jesus, thank you for dying for my Sins, and watch for God’s ‘Peace’ and ‘Joy’ over our lives following that prayer!

After receiving a call from Ivan my half brother, I swung into action! I got 2 weeks’ leave from Work, Air Ticket from Quantas! Soon I got my Visa in Singapore!

I hopped onto the evening Flight to Brunei with a nice box of beautiful flowers which I lay beside the Grave site of my father— looking up into the night sky, I said a Prayer, "Oh God, I thank you that my father is not in the grave here, his Spirit is with you now, since his ‘timely’ confession of you as Savior, and accepted your Pardon, he was changed and transformed in his encounter with you that night, his hatred of you was gone, he began to love you, his face was shining, ‘Peace’ came into his heart, and his fears were all gone! Thank you Jesus for your Mercy! Amen.

I remembered my pledge to my father! I said,father, I will tell my brothers and sisters, all my relatives, my friends and others to follow your footsteps– to believe like you believe, and pray like you pray so that we’ll all go to Heaven! What I was not made aware at the time was, it would be a tough call, an immense task, as my relatives are spread out far and wide. Some live in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia many in Canada, and in Brunei! While I was wrestling with that challenge in my mind, suddenly, I heard God say to me in a crisp voice beside me, (like a gentle whisper) in these words, Write it in a book! I looked around, but there was nobody except myself! I knew then it was God ‘s voice! I had heard that same voice before!

Earlier father was sick in bed with a stroke, I heard a voice behind me very distinctly, while seated in a chair, utterly amazed by the seeming coincidence, hordes of devils came to terrify my bed–ridden father, and on both occasions, they fled away in Jesus’ Name! Strangely, Redemption / Salvation topic was definitely non productive, due to the way my father had been carrying on for many decades! His God–defying–Jesus-denying-Name–swearing tantrums, lampooning and lambasting God were never an envious sight! That’s precisely why I didn’t think conducive to talk about! Even though I saw Jesus rout the devil twice that night, and the Air charged with unpredictable drama! Then out of the blue, I heard a distinct voice beside me whispering, It’ s time for your father to get Saved I was stunned! The voice was so clear, that I didn’t even ask,What? I didn’t ask Who is it? because I knew it was God’s voice! I felt it came from inside me – yet it seemed it was behind and beside me, at the same time! It
