About this ebook

As the first two books of poems published by Chipminka
clearly showed, John has experienced severe mental
problems due to a savage sexual assault and rape.
This volume
shows the therapeutic and cathartic value of the act of
writing in overcoming such problems.
This is a good example of attention to the daily habit of
creativity.
John, in this volume, clearly demonstrates how writing
has transformed a series of major personal problems
into opportunitiesabove all, the opportunity to
transform his most intimate musings into a fascinating
series of poems.

    LIGHT

I wake unto darkness. the previous night’s

process is now in place, in reverse: light

slowly takes charge of its early shift.

Some few fear the light, most take it as it

comes, nothing remarkable, they say. Those

hardy souls who work through the night, also

welcome light as a sentinel, it augurs well

    for the new day ahead.

Just now, the night-creatures have bolted to

their lairs while others shake-off the drowsiness

of sleep and slowly scratch themselves awake.

And as the light envelopes all, so the dew has

cast her spell on a million blades of grass, icycold,

    sweating cold. Nature already working

overtime in total silence, and yet not so, for

close-up the myriad sounds of rising sap are

    there for all to hear.

    LITTLE CHRISTMAS

6th of January: time to fell the

    festive tree which gave such

    pleasure during these two

    weeks.
