About this ebook

Over the centuries the religious calendar has pursued its unchanging annual
repeating orbit and successive generations of mankind have obediently
participated in its ceremonies from their cradles to their graves. In turn, they all
came to know that Faith must be built on a foundation of Truthand yet, hypocritically, in
turn no one addressed the fallacies and enigmas which abound in the bedrock. Th is written
piece is the presentation of the truth and to God be all the glory for I live only to serve.

Author

Yaw Obeng

From my birth in an inconsequential African village to my elusive pursuit of Utopian life in Europe, I have appreciated how superfi cial life has been on a personal level despite what the ignorant may defi ne as signifi cant achievements. Constant battles against a hostile environment made me seek sanctuary in my own solitude and I became a philosopher comforted in my isolation by the works of Francis Cabrel, Pierre Bachlet, Alexandre Dumas, Th eophile Gauthier, Simon and Garfunkel, Verdi, Luigi Boccherini, Mozart, Maria Willis Love and Abba. Th ese all served to maintain my sanity and clarity of thinking. In the face of much chaos my faith has remained passionate and I live only to serve. To God be all the glory.

    Dedication

We all share the very same portals into and then out of this ethereal maze which we call life, yet through it our individual life paths can be so incredibly contrasting. This has been the case since antiquity, and it will no doubt continue to be so for aeons to come. Do not contest the fact that some offspring dutifully aim for the stars and yet illogically gain absolutely nothing and then even more bizarrely others will wholeheartedly aim for nothing and yet obtain as astral future.

Life is indeed incredible and, alas, unfair. This written work is a gift to all those who have at some stage critically reviewed their curriculum vitae only to uncomfortably receive their first vital enlightenment—that they have wasted much of their Life. At a more mature age, they then humbly, emotionally, and solemnly resolve to rectify the flaws and rebuild the bridges but then receive their second vital enlightenment—that for certain, at some time in the future, life is going to waste them.

Come the day when we can all equally be permitted to live long and prosper. Amen.

    Introduction

This written work is dedicated to the moon, the stars, and the sun. All three of whom have not only been impressively—and uncritically—ever-silent and ever-patient, but also ever-present companions during my entire lifespan, and consequently, they and they alone are the witnesses (willing or otherwise) who can announce an authority to give testimony for everything that I have been through and therefore produce the defence of my own claim of having patiently and non-hypocritically earned the relevant qualifications from the university of life to now assert the right to broadcast my own lectures for students interested in this unavoidable life course of Truth.

Yet this written work is not my private property, and I warmly welcome one and all—regardless of denomination, faith, age, race, gender, physical or mental health, role, contentment, and degree of wealth—to share my experiences, thoughts, and prayer for the Truth.

Over many years of constant planning and sacrifices, I have been forced regularly to confront the stark reality that, alas, I am preordained to wallow through life as a very ordinary person despite always being passionately consumed with an unquenchable lifelong thirst for something loftier; regardless of my consequent disappointments and frustrations, my judgement has never been clouded by bias, for there has always been a singular personal lesson—namely, my coming to realise that Truth is like money, for once lost, first, you may never find it again, and second, you will always be poorer without it. I have appreciated that Truth is flawless and that any interpretations of it are simply lies—pure and simple. There must be no tolerances or acceptances of interpretations but rather only a quest for the original Truth itself. So it is then that unless one is present at the beginning of an event, then the individual must respectfully appreciate that all ideas about that event’s history should be accepted as simply fabulous conjectures because no mortal author could lay claim to the power of divine certainty since this could only be possible by possession of sacred wisdom—a gift that is the sole preserve of the immortal ones.

In my life, through recurrent ambitions and persistent failures, I have been greatly enlightened, and now my remaining desire is to share this enlightenment in a singular quest for Truth itself.

You are all invited to be bold and read on and feel at ease with my words, for I have no personal motives, and I my intentions are without any malice. Blessed be the Father and the Son forever, and blessed forever, too, be the unaffiliated seekers of the sacred Truth.

    The Singular

    Conundrum of Time

I look into my children’s eyes, and they stare fondly back at me. It is a blissful moment, and nobody feels ill at ease regardless of the duration of the mutually loving gaze. They are naive by virtue of their age and happy to be interacting with one of their parents, and yet with my years, I am full of wisdom. Again and again, the same theme recurs, and at the height of my thoughts, I feel blessed with a superior wisdom—for as we stare fixedly at each other, I gradually concede that during this singular moment of gazing addictively at my precious offspring, I am awestruck in the wonderment that in reality I am indeed observing my past, for clearly the offspring is a natural representation of me during the dawn of my life. Yet there was still much more in that the reverse analogy held true, that is to say, as they in turn observed me, they would be formulating the notion that I represented their future since one day in time they would become somewhat like me. Thus at that singular moment in time, I was gazing at my past and they, my past, were gazing at me, a representation of their future. Yet there is still more, for lo and behold, I often would invert the scenario—for clearly my children are my descendants, and by this virtue, they were my future, for when the time came that I ceased to exist, they would continue to represent me, and by the same token, I was also a representation of their past, for I was their primogenitor. So it is that when inside any family unit, parallel dimensions of time exist simultaneously within which the older generation is as much a representation of the past as it is of the future for the younger generation, whilst at the same time the converse holds true with the younger generation at any particular time being definable as the future and the past of the older generation.

Let this conundrum serve to prove that the author of this literary work is not a fly-by-night. Amen.

    THE LORD GOD DOES EXIST

    Dearest Qoheleth,

Blessed be God forever, and may I be forgiven for any criticism made out of ignorance despite my failure to see the logic in certain apparent inequalities regarding the right of everyone to automatically be accorded meaningfully long life within his kingdom.

What is incontestable is the presence of distinct signs of his incontestable existence despite remaining ever invisible to our mortal eyes. The evidences that the Lord God does exist are as clearly apparent as they are awesome, and the wonder of it all is that one does not need any special gift in order to gain this awareness.

I speak with as much insight as would any ordinary mortal, without any claims of a personal audience with the Messiah and without professing any personal witness to unnatural events in the guise of miracles involving any spontaneously burning bushes, staffs changing into snakes, oceans being parted, hungry lions refusing to devour me, whales swallowing me, angels wrestling with me, or a piece of wool remaining bone dry when the ground it was resting on was soaking wet, and I have not heard or seen any heavenly host in person. I have never asked for or been spontaneously granted any miracles to witness. Consequently, I would categorically define my thoughts as being irrefutably original and not the consequence of any deliberate external influences. In addition, the aim of my own testimony is not to influence in any bad way but rather the converse—for I want to use written language to offer enlightenment to individuals so that they will then have no need to waste a lifetime acquiring it for themselves. This time, saving strategy will serve them well by making them aware of the glory of God and finding redemption in living according to his ways.

To appreciate the existence of God, all that one needs to do is simply gaze up and take in the immensity of the night sky and go on to also appreciate the awesome number of stars within the visible field of vision—but this is just the tip of the iceberg for there must then be an accompanying realisation that this awesome number of visible twinklers is enormously dwarfed by the quantity of those who are so far away that their light rays have yet to reach planet earth. It is overwhelming how from our planet, each twinkling star is no larger than a pinhead whereas in reality, they are magnificently gargantuan brilliantly scorching monsters of the cosmos and in reality are hundreds of times the size of our planet and also thousands of times heavier.

From space, life forms on the planets are not visible and so any conflicts on the planet surface is neither seen nor heard—it remains undetected and of total irrelevance. Man has no influence on these celestial bodies and is himself dwarfed by them into utter irrelevance in terms of size and power. The power and nobility at this level is way beyond that of man and so much so that he is of no worth in terms of the rules of the cosmos, where the stars move as they themselves are programmed to rather than due to any influence from a comparatively irrelevant life form—namely mankind—and as a consequence, there is no concept of good or evil in space because the activity of man on the surface of planet earth does not send any ripples into space.

Some stars—like our sun—have planets, like our earth, around them to form solar systems, but regardless of presence or absence of planets, these stars themselves are grouped by their billions or trillions into galaxies. The pathways of galaxies, in turn, are influenced by the gravitational pull of some nearby galaxies with which there is an eternal association in regards to their directions of movement in space. It is as if each galaxy was a satellite to its neighbouring galaxy—once again incredibly awesome when one recollects that each galaxy contains billions or trillions of stars. However, the account is not complete for there is still more ordering apparent where tens of these neighbouring galaxies are themselves clustered with other similarly associated galaxies to form so-called local groups, and thousands of these local groups are assembled together to make ‘clusters’ and these in turn congregate to form ‘superclusters’ of galaxies. Superclusters are the largest structure that exists in nature and yet account for about 5 per cent of the visible universe.

It is known that the cosmos is in dynamic movement to the extent that all its components are whizzing in different directions at awesome speeds, yet seemingly always able to find a non-confrontational route, thereby avoiding the other components. Our planet earth is in the galaxy called the Milky Way, where our sun is one of the billions, and miraculously collision courses do not occur—were it to be otherwise, then that would be the end of the life of man.

Consider another miraculous phenomenon within our very own solar system itself, where our planet earth orbits the sun simultaneous to the other planets, each moving independently along its own pathway and eternally managing to avoid colliding into one another.

So it is that as the earth revolves around the sun and at the same time the moon rotates around the earth, the other planets and their satellites display the same pattern of movements whilst in turn the sun charts its course nonstop through the voids of the Milky Way, which then in turn must negotiate a critical path through the local groups, clusters, and superclusters of galaxies. Amazingly, despite there never being a pause in these tremendous movements and their occurring at fabulous speeds, it all continues to take place throughout the passage of time without any suggestion of and impending impact of catastrophic consequence to man or to planet earth—an event which all things considered should be happening at least billions of time a day when one considers the fabulous numbers of celestial bodies in both the visible as well as the invisible parts of the universe.

This is tangible evidence of the existence of God. Amen.

    STRAIGHT LINES, CIRCLES, AND HYPOCRITES

    Dear Qoheleth of blessed memory,

Wherever you may be lying in wait for that great day, please continue to do so in perfect peace. Simply be aware that I have always been and still remain one of your most loyal scholars—if not the most loyal. Many a time have I offered songs of praise to the Almighty not just for your past existence but especially for your foresight in leaving written communications of your philosophies so that the future generations of seeker of the Truth may benefit. There can be no doubt that I will passionately continue to devotedly salute your memory and give humble thanks for your magnificent observations during your lifetime. Contrary to our philosophy of logic, I selfishly crave for your presence in order to gain an even deeper understanding of your experiences, achievements, and any ambitions that eluded you. I appreciate that anything that you failed to do would clearly have been due to that notoriously rude and inconsiderate visitor, Lord Death, the ultimate taker-of-life, whose self-invited personal encounters hypnotize the hapless soul to abandon the physical entrapments and follow him into sacred and long-lasting tranquil repose. My humble conclusions are entirely in agreement with your very own, for incredibly, despite the separation of our respective births by millennia the logic, or lack of it, to life, in my opinion, is the same as was concluded in your account, and at this juncture, please permit me to raise a glass and make a toast to the phrase that immediately comes to mind, ‘Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose’.

I have greatly been inspired by your works—and I must be amongst many because your great work has been included in one of the most sacred reference books of my era called the Bible. In the era long after your own demise, many things have happened, though your general observations of life have remained constant, and most notably the Lord God sent down his only begotten Son to interact with mankind and teach us many things. Qoheleth, the son of God was named Jesus Christ, and amongst the many things he taught us was the Lord’s Prayer. As far as our current historical records show, this prayer had not been in existence during your time, and it is written as follows:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come. Thine will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Qoheleth, I have always heeded your advice and always tried not to do anything that may be displeasing to God, and further still, I have obediently and believingly recited the Lord’s Prayer many times in different ages of my mortal growth and developments and at differing times under differing conditions—good times, bad times, happy times, sad times, times of gratitude, times of expectation, times of gaining, times of losing, times of wonderment, and times of salvation. Grammatically, its words, clauses, and sentences will need no explanation to you, and as I have already confessed, they have served me extremely well over many decades. In retrospect, its most relevant part for me has been the ‘lead us not into temptation’ because in consideration of
