is
dedicated to the loving memory of my husband, Alan Lieberman,
who passed from this world on July 20, 2016.
Introduction
This is a love story, a love that nourished two souls brought together to heal years of unhappiness and despair. Two souls so meant to be united that their oneness gave rise to unspoken thoughts and dreams made possible by their union. For more than three decades, their flame burned brightly as together they forged a life that sought to accomplish much to bring good to this world. Friends and family alike benefited from their generosity of spirit. They, in turn, drew close around them the ones they held most dear to their hearts. This is the story of the love Alan and I shared for so many blessed years. And now that illness, and finally death, have taken his physical presence from my life, I seek once more to unite our spirits and our souls in preparation for a life renewed beyond the vestiges of death. This desire to connect once again to my beloved Alan is so fierce a drive within me that I know the story that I tell will resonate beyond this space and time.
We live in a most miraculous age, an age in which modern miracles abound, miracles that in medicine and science have become a daily occurrence. These are not miracles that occur overnight, rather they are hard won discoveries fraught with disappointments and setbacks, frustration and disillusionment, but also with a determination and perseverance to push forward until the desired end has been achieved. This resolve is within the consciousness of the scientist and the dreamer, whose heartbeat hears the same voice moving them ever forward to achieve their ultimate mission. But through faith and perseverance, amazing breakthroughs in the humanities and the sciences have been achieved.
The space time continuum once considered so beyond our reach is, through discoveries in particle physics becoming a possibility. Our travel to distant worlds, and other dimensions in this ever expanding universe is not beyond our grasp. To continue to reach for the stars is no longer simply a fairy tale. The seeds of thought once planted are the initiation for it one day being so. Ideas once conceived are no longer science fiction, but science fact.
So much of what initially began in the realm of science fiction has materialized from the vision of the author into scientific reality. It gives me pause to recognize prophetic ideas so ahead of their time in many of the books I have read. These ideas are not lost on me as I begin my travels through space and time to reconnect with the soul I was meant to share my life with yet again.
Preface
Now my Alan is no longer with me. My friends and family assure me that he is with me in spirit. What exactly does that mean? Is he in another dimension, on another plane? I wish I knew. I can only hope that one day, in the future, we will be united in life, not death. So many things fill my mind. I only know that my connection to Alan can never be broken. And so I am searching for any means possible to connect with him again. Using my faith and my ever active imagination, I am embarking on a long and difficult, often heartrending journey to allow my wish to become a reality. This is the hope I hold in my being until the day I can be with him again.
My research into Judaic thought and philosophy has offered me some comfort. My faith does incorporate the concepts of both reincarnation and resurrection as part of our belief. Much of these ideas are embedded in Kabbalistic ideology. There has been much controversy concerning these ideas, many arguments among Judaic philosophers, scholars and mystics. So much of what I have read has confirmed
