Razaq Ivori

Razaq Ivori is a story teller with too many tales to tell. He lives in Lagos-Nigeria where he thrives as a performance poet. Once a student of sociology in Ahmadu Bello University, Ivori believes that the ultimate goal of life is to empty every aboriginal content ferried by the body’s soul before the close of existence. Human Only is a testament to that fact.

    THE SPERM

    SCENE 1 Act one

    The sperm; Birth

Narrator; the search for man is still on and while that project hum-hums… Let us seek for golden words and fellowship.

Destiny was around and as usual playing tricks on the twigs surviving off its existence…

The moon hid behind thick dark clouds forming a shroud that made the proud winds bristle with folklore fever. Gathering our kith, kin and in-laws we headed for the buzz-buzz.

We had laughed for hours but now we acted.

    Conga Drum Beats

Narrator continues; All preys need prayers. Same for the masters of the earth who conspire to sip the blood of their down trodden. We all need prayers.

Layers of them, some to be said generously even for those that bear weaponry against us.

Everyone listen, while I tell a gory story only dead eyes have ever seen. From where I am standing there is soon to be trouble.

Commandeer a vesicle with me into the flesh world… where all live by blood alone. Let us watch murky drama unleash itself on the unsuspecting."

Lord Pain; {a spiritual force not seen but heard prepares the multitude of a sperm sac [sperms] for a journey through the seminal fluid to fertilize an ovary’s egg. The gist of his speech is not easily discernable. Its intention is woven in a mix of religious hocus pocus with an intent to brainwash".

Lord Pain; from my gaze I see same faces. Calm faces and clamed faces. Faces who don’t know that smiles can easily be afforded. Broken faces, because all they know is pain faces. My kind of faces, when the time comes the alarms shall blare out and it would be the [the sperms] time for sacrifice. Mediators there will be no course for worry ever again. Call it the beginnings of a holy everlasting life. No pain

The consecrated flaccid spear long since dead basically rises to destiny. Upholding and down throbbing in the full glory of the gods. When it is time, the iron blood will stretch it to a gangplank and onward you enter.

It shall soon be birth time.

In sleep lies the secret of the gods. An entire world awaits, fear not mediators. Soon, after the brief darkness introduces you to the new powers of light: you are Alive!.

A heart shall beat your chest with health rather than help like you have now, wimps of a bloodsucker world. A heart shall beat your chest and mothers welcome you from the dead.

That is where paradise awaits. Our planet here is lukewarm only for the meek spirited, it is a trial point for this day; the day of bravery of sacrifice of life.

In paradise, a heart beats in bits and pieces seconds together to form a span of existence recorded in days and nights.

Hon Ludwig follicle; [high factor of the protozoa order addressing the sperms] I hereby dub thee sperm fit to be representation of higher beings go fight for a life embodiment and recreate us here again in your own scrotum.

Everything in life must move within the orchestration of a celestial evolution.

I say unto you new born who think they leave us. You have just begun to join us.

Once the alarms go off, lead the way don’t be lead, go! Go willingly and embody life.

    HOOK; Hook and his friend [both sperm heads themselves, aside];

    What do you think?

    GREEN; about what?

HOOK; This sermon and the celestial voyage to Life

Are we supposed to die for something few have hopes of achieving?

    One out of millions!

That’s a terrible survival rating. Do you notice he is not telling what happens to the rest of us who might fail to fertilize the so called holy egg?

We are all dying. All except one of us, one out of a million.

Green; have you checked out the survival ratings? They say we are not even supposed to get too excited least our bodies burn up before the immune forces feast on it… You
