ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I want to extend a special thanks to the following people who materially contributed to the start of this book in some form or fashion:
Pastor Joe of Bible Baptist Church in Malta (where I had the privilege to serve once a week, each week for almost a year), my overseas home church. His whole life is a shining example of what a real, living Biblical hero should be like.
Ian of Bible Baptist Church in Malta, whose own life struggles and triumphs over them, along with our emails back and forth (once we had left the God-fearing country and original lands of the Bible
island of Malta) inspired me to start writing such a book in the first place.
Pastor Mark of Church in the Gardens (my home church in South Florida), whose sermons have always been exactly what I needed to hear, when I needed to hear it. It was the King David series of Sunday sermons that got me thinking about my favorite Bible heroes from the start. The sermon outline of the 3 Miraculous Prayers of King Hezekiah
I wrote down and shared with him became the original core and basis of this book. You remain an inspiration Pastor Mark!
Keith, my dear friend in the Potteries
of Stoke on Trent, Great Britain. He has always been my biggest fan and most ardent supporter of my writing, since the days of We Three Kings: Two Journeys of the Magi. Thank you for all the years of encouragement to write and publish another book!
My parents who have always encouraged me in my writing endeavors all of my life. Thank you for the support over the years!
Thank you from my heart to all of you. I could not have even begun the monumental project without each person!
PART I
Standing in the Shadow
of Greatness
CHAPTER 1
Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
Have you ever been desperate for help?
In these days in which we live, that is almost a redundant question. Maybe the real question we should all be asking is, Have you ever found yourself at the point where you had nowhere else to turn?
Frankly put, have you ever found yourself desperate for God’s help?
King Hezekiah was a man desperate for God’s help in ways that we can all relate to today. Oh, you may not be a king with palaces, men at arms, subjects, a walled city, and enormously powerful, overwhelming enemies. Still, you probably have people to take care of who depend on you for guidance and protection. You likely face incredible opposition in your own daily life’s struggles. In today’s world, you may easily find yourself unemployed, seriously ill, alone against great adversity, or with all kinds of other troubles that seem way too big for you to handle on your own.
At the very least, you suffer (as do we all sometimes) from the grief, pain, and maybe even fear of the devastation that foreign born terrorist enemies can and do wreak in the midst of our cities, nations, and world. This book about the good Jewish King Hezekiah who lived, ruled, struggled, prayed, and saw incredible miracles 2,700 years ago is especially for you…
But What Is So Important About King Hezekiah?
In the skeptical age that we live in
