About this ebook
The Jason William Hunt Foundation had had tremendous impact on many people especially young people in transition who want to expand their horizons. This happens in an outdoor setting lead by instructors like Jason. It happens every summer at the Wilderness School.
Johns only son, Jason, will forever be twenty-four years old. My son John is twenty-five. Our sons like many young men seek adventure. Parents care deeply about their children and the fear of losing a child dwells in all of us. How does a parent cope with the tragic loss of their beloved child?
Walking with Jason is a quest to trace Jasons brief life as a young man. John becomes the youthful adventurer and visits Jasons world. John seemingly falls through the looking glass and discovers a mysterious and wonderful world inhabited by troubled adolescents, craggy Thru-hikers, idealistic outdoor leaders and others who visit natures realm. Ultimately Johns odyssey is a very personal journey of self-discovery and gives us a compass bearing on how to deal with the sudden loss of a child. I will forever be connected to Jason, Danielle, Amy, Rosemarie and John. Thank you for generous hearts and concern for youth.

John F. Hunt
As executive director of the Jason William Hunt Foundation, John has spent the last ten years providing scholarships and opportunities for kids at-risk to attend therapeutic wilderness developmental programs. Working with families and outdoor experiential programs across the country, John and his family continue the work Jason was doing prior to his untimely and sudden death. In this book, John meets and works with very dedicated and skilled wilderness educators who spend days on end in varying environmental conditions—mud, rain, cold, heat, high humidity—guiding and guarding our youth as they find and develop their inner strengths and skills. In the process, children who have low self-esteem, have been scarred by abuse, or have been abandoned by caregivers learn to believe in themselves and form a vision of a life beyond their home streets. A native of Connecticut, John now resides in southwest Ohio. Jason’s foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. To learn more about the foundation or to make a donation, please visit www.jwhf.org.
