T o the Reverend of Sherfield-on-Loddon I would like to thank him for his efforts in trying to rid my flat of the spirits.
The two spiritualists (Guardian Angels) you know who you are, for all your help, support and guidance. I will always be grateful.
My two sons, Jamie and Jake.
To those who believed in me and never doubted my situation.
To Rob, thank you for being my sounding board on all those long journeys around England to watch Liverpool FC.
Last, but by no means least, to my girlfriend Pam for showing me what it’s truly like to be loved by a woman.
God Bless you all.
Introduction
F rom a young age, I have had many experiences with the paranormal; some very frightening others not so scary. However, nothing I had experienced was to prepare me for what I would live through for three and a half years. I have delved into my memory bank, which is still very vivid, to put down into words my own true story.
This book and my experience should be a stern warning to anybody who considers the Ouija board to be just a harmless game.
The fact you have picked up this book shows you have an interest in ghosts. Whether you choose to believe what you are about to read is up to you.
All I ask of the reader is to have an open mind and let the facts speak for themselves.
Chapter 1
Fresh Start
I t was just another working day, cool and dry, perfect window cleaning weather. I placed the ladder up against the upstairs window and trudged wearily up the runs; mid-morning but it felt like the end of the day. I was tired, not physically, but mentally.
The relationship between my wife and I was in tatters. I desperately needed a place to live and get away from the home that had turned into a living nightmare. The atmosphere in the house was hostile and tense and had been for a good twelve months; she wanted me out and I needed to leave for my own sanity although I was determined not to end up living in a bed-sit or a YMCA. I was holding out for a place that suited me, much to my wife’s frustration.
I stood at the foot of the ladder taking a brief respite, placing the cigarette in my mouth. I was contemplating what my future held, and trying to handle the emotional pain that seemed to haunt my every waking moment. ‘Alright Andy!’ a friendly voice interrupted my train of thought. It was Roger, a local handyman/builder, someone who knew a lot of people in the area, and a man who was about to change my life forever.
If anyone knew of vacant flats in the area, Roger would. He informed me that the Estate Agents in the village owned two flats and one was empty. I could feel the excitement stirring inside me. I couldn’t believe my luck. I finished the house I was working on and rushed round to talk to the landlord in person.
The Estate Agent looked at me warily as I sat down in his office. They dealt with expensive properties, handling professional middle class clients and here I was a shaven headed, tattooed window cleaner sitting in this nice respectable office. There was no chance of me buying a £400,000 property!
He looked at me with surprise when I explained that I was interested in the empty flat. He obviously sensed I was genuine and agreed to give me a viewing there and then. That was it; the ball was in motion and I could finally make a new life for myself.
As he showed me around the property I could sense the disbelief in his voice. He didn’t honestly expect anyone to rent the flat and I could see why. It had been empty for several months and was badly in need of a refurbishment. There were damp patches in every room; it was drafty; the window sills and skirting boards needed replacing and plaster was flaking off the kitchen walls but it had potential. I could see myself living there; with four large rooms, a hallway and a cloakroom, a walled garden, two parking spaces it had all I needed. The property was old with low ceilings, and an open fireplace. My mind was made up—this flat would do for me.
A firm handshake sealed the agreement and I was due to move in on March 3rd 2004.
Chapter 2
Ouija Board
I walked away leaving everything behind. I had just the clothes I was wearing, two bin liners and one dog for company—we were both surplus to requirements! Not much to show for fifteen years of marriage and a lot of blood, sweat and tears. However, despite all of my varied emotions, as much as anything, I felt relief, as though a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
After a brief stay with my parents I moved into my new home. The early weeks in the flat where spent sitting and sleeping on the floor; I had nothing and had to start again rebuilding a home for myself. With
