About this ebook
In this amazing story, Jeremy Reynalds, who founded and runs New Mexicos largest emergency homeless shelter and was once homeless himself, shares how he rose from the despair of homelessness to the pinnacle of academia, earning a doctorate in intercultural education at Biola University in La Mirada, California.
In addition, the book contains stories of a number of people who have fallen on hard times and have gotten back on their feet again with the help of the Lord at Joy Junction.
Jeremys story has challenged me to pay more attention to the homeless among us. I pray that his life will likewise encourage you.

Reviews for A Sheltered Life
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5First, I want to say that I find it difficult to review a memoir or personal story of this nature. I want to be clear that I'm reviewing this book's content, not the author's own life and/or choices.A Sheltered Life shines a light on a topic that desperately needs attention, which is our homeless population. Jeremy Reynalds shares stories of real people, no different than you and I, who have wound up on the streets. Often this is due to circumstances beyond their control, such as lost jobs and lack of family support. The popular misconception is that our homeless are lazy, drug addicts, criminals, and/or crazy. Reynalds does an excellent job of debunking this myth.I was surprised by the volume of religious content throughout this book, which hadn't been clear in the description. While I understand Christianity and faith are a large part of Reynalds' life, I think that aspect often overshadows the story of our homeless. At times, it felt a little preachy and that could easily put off readers with different beliefs. I have immense respect for the work Jeremy Reynalds does. His passion shines through in his writing. We need more people like him in our world. Our homeless have been invisible for far too long.
