About this ebook
Bassey Effanga Asuquo
My name is Bassey Effanga Asuquo. I hail from Akwa Ikot Effanga in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State, Nigeria. Born into the family of Elder and Mrs. E. O. B. Asuquo, I happen to be the first born of five. I had my primary education in Command Children’s School. Thereafter I advanced to Hope Waddell Training Institution in Calabar, where I concluded my secondary education. I later proceeded to what was then Polytechnic Calabar (now Cross River University of Technology CRUTECH) where I obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Building and Quantity Surveying. Along the way, I attended NIIT and obtained a diploma in Network Engineering Microsoft Technologies, after which I proceeded to Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Imo State, where I obtained a higher national diploma (HND) in Quantity Surveying. My drive for information technologies in the construction industry was initiated in 2005 during my course of studies; I first started the research when I transformed the idea into my course project work in 2007. Ever since then, there have been many improvements in my research work, which have resulted to this manuscript. I have worked with ADS Computers, Design Aid Consortium, and the Ministry of Lands and Housing at different times and have gathered some quality experiences in both Information Technology and Construction areas - to buttress my ideas, inspirations, and aspiration in life.

ABSTRACT
Construction is the bedrock of any industry that needs to establish or expand its function, and this may be shown by houses that accommodate people and other resources and the road network that aids other functions. In developing countries today, there is a rising need to accommodate a huge population of people who are either unemployed or underpaid amidst increasingly depreciating economies.
The traditional methods of executing tasks and keeping records of information in the construction industry are time-consuming at every phase of their execution, which translates into money spent or consumed; hence, construction is a high-cost project.
Twenty-First-Century Technologies for the Construction Industry, which involves the introduction of computer technologies at every phase of the construction process—will maneuver problems of time consumed at every phase, save money, and enhance efficiency and effectiveness, while making the job more interesting and transparent for both professionals of the industry and nonprofessionals.
INTRODUCTION
Twenty-first-century technology, or computer technology, has been shown to be a major solution to the high cost and time wastage in construction projects. The various factors that help with cost control and time control can be identified at the
