From the Playground to the Stars: A Dream Away
()
About this ebook
Who inspired me in their accomplishments and dedication to
Their works and to society, most of all, I see the treasures of God
Manifested in our everyday lives, overwhelming us with blessings
And gifts he ordained before the foundation of the world. Unfortunately
The graveyard is filled with buried treasures of which the enemy stole.
What- ever gifts God blessed us with, even if they take us to the stars
Remember, he is the source and is worthy to be praised. For all good
Things come from above, therefore they all started with love. The gift
He gave to the world was gifted wrapped in flesh and sent with the name
Of Jesus Christ, the only true bridge between God and man. So when our
Roads meet him at the cross, we cant help but to acknowledge he paid
Our cost. Otherwise, all we work for is in vain, for without him were
Totally lost. whether its sports, medicine, education or some other area
Of life he blesses us with fruits for us to bless one another. remember
The blood In our veins and the air in our lungs, is a blessing from God
And the Cross Jesus hung..

From the Playground to the Stars - Willie G. Demings
WHAT LOVE IS TO ME?
14566.jpgMy name is Alisa, from God’s holy tree
And this is what, love is to me
Love is waking up, with joy inside
Knowing my parents, are at my side.
Love is being happy, and having fun
Like walking outside, enjoying the sun
It’s living in peace, with my fellow man
And doing the very best, that I truly can.
Love is helping people, who are in need
Without food or money, and suffering indeed
Being kind and helpful, even to your enemy
There-by, introducing him, to a new reality.
I thank the Lord, for the gift of life
And I pray one day, I be a good wife
Just like my mom, is to my dad
She keeps him smiling, and feeling glad.
My name is Krista, from God’s holy tree
And this is what, love is to me
Love is being surrounded, by people we love
Who reflects the light, of our Father above.
Love is a listening ear, and love is a smile
Love has caused relationships, to be reconciled
Love is forgiveness, we need more today
Remember, tomorrow, is not promised anyway.
Love is living in harmony, with one another
And recognizing everyone, as sisters and brothers
And giving the love, I see in my mother
Of which I have, for Jamarcus, my brother.
Yes, my name is Jamarcus, from God’s holy tree
And this is what, love is to me
It’s all the little things, those below and above
And sharing it with others, in the name of love.
It’s caring for the sick, and the elderly too
Not only providing time, but seeing them through
Cherishing every single day, like it’s the last
Trying not to repeat, the mistakes of the past.
Putting self on hold, on behalf of others
A foundation laid, by my Father and Mother
And observing the beauty, of all that we see
Allowing us to be, all that we can be.
My name is willie, from God’s holy tree
And this is what, love is to me
It’s God’s precious word, and my beautiful wife
It’s the breath I received, that gave me life.
It’s my lovely children, that God gave to me
Of which I treasure, and loves so dearly
It’s the goodness and mercy, I received and taste
It’s knowledge of the truth, and the gift of grace.
We thank God, for all that he’s done
And especially for the offering, of his dear Son
Jesus came and died, for all our sins
And there on the cross, God welcomed us in.
Into his kingdom, He prepared for us
And in this kingdom, we believe and trust
Because He’s the source, for all we are
Made in His image, we’re his precious stars.
I’m the Mother and wife, my name is Mary
And on my part, I agree sincerely
For all I have, God faithfully gave to me
And He also adopted us, into His family.
Yes, God unlocked heaven, and gave us the key
For us to abide, throughout all eternity
So knowing and trusting him, is truly a must
And that’s what love, really is to us.

(WE ARE FAMILY)
A WALK TO REMEMBER
(BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS)
14623.jpgWhen the world proudly crown, what it call good
Where is love and unity, where is brotherhood
Is this the precious light, that shines from sea to sea
Where some are in bondage, and others given liberty.
Many blacks entered life, on the battlefield
On plantations in slavery, where their fate seemed sealed
Fighting against the odds, and the system for change
Hoping the Deep South thinking, wouldn’t remain the same.
Remember, the walk to freedom, seeking the truth
In many cases led, to the slave hunter’s noose
At the very least, tied to a tree
Then beaten and tortured, for trying to get free.
As for conquering darkness, there are so many people
That fought for equality, I call light keepers
Observing and enlightening people, every single day
Even after their journey ends, God still made a way.
For instance Harriet Tubman, carried more than her load
Because she help start, the Underground Railroad
She faithfully kept moving out, and stayed to her plan
To free as many slaves, as she possibly can.
Not once, not twice, but many, many times
Knowing her very own life, was on the line.
Yes, many slaves were secretly, lead to freedom
With a network of people, waiting to receive them.
One of which, was Mr. William Still
Who maintained the network, with heart and skill
This anti-slavery activist, was quite a man
Operating the network, that was truly well planned.
With the light of God, burning inside his heart
He followed the guiding light, from the very start
Out-witting the slave hunters, and their bloodhounds too
Seeking slaves a better life, than what they were going through.
I salute Thomas Jefferson, and his mind-full attendance
To think and ink, the Declaration of Independence
Stating all men are created equal, with un-alienable rights
With government securing them, both day and night.
From George Washington Carver, to Eli Whitney
From Fredrick Douglas, to Mr. Homer Plessy
They all brought light, into some dark places
Opening many issues, in which mankind faces.
I salute President Lincoln, for his historical stand
Declaring slavery unconstitutional, freeing every man
This movement did cause, a lot of blood shed
Between the North and South, many ended up dead.
Rosa Parks made a stand, not giving up her seat
Her refusal to get up, caused a whole lot of heat
Leading to Boycotting, and a lot of fuss
As blacks refused, to ride the City bus.
Then came a man, with vision and a dream
Whose known to many, as Rev. Martin Luther King
He fought injustice, racism, and discrimination too
To provide a better life, for me and for you.
I salute the Kennedys, both Robert and John
For they answered the call, when the telephone rung
To provide the general welfare, and do the right thing
To insure Lady Liberty, let freedom ring.
I salute Medger Evers, and the NAACP
For battling segregation, and setting captives free
From slavery and bondage, of which affected humanity
For the Jews and Gentiles, and Blacks especially.
I salute Malcolm X, for his struggle for blacks
He influenced Afro Americans, to resist oppressor’s attacks
For violence and exploitations, brought on the race riots
Causing the Civil Rights Movement,
for blacks wouldn’t keep quiet.
I remember Thurgood Marshall, of the 96th Supreme Court
Who really took to law, and made himself a fort
To stand and fight, the issues of the land
That affected the lives, of every single man.
From Elijah Muhammad, carrying a powerful mantle
Sending messages afar, awakening the Black Panthers
Mr. Ralph Abernathy, and W.E.B Du Bois
To Rev. Jesse Jackson, and others only God knows.
From the sun rising up, to the sun going down
The blacks has plowed, and toiled the ground
And this has happen, for many, many years
Soaking the earth’s soil, with blood, sweat and tears.
From the giant railroad, and the deadly chain gang
To the cotton fields, were bloodstains and pain
Then President Roosevelt, saw slavery wasn’t done
And he proceeded to issue, Circular 3591.
So now away with peonage, and the Jim Crow Law
Even as sharecroppers, sometimes many were at awe
Facing all the in-justice, throughout this whole land
Being strategically executed, against every black man.
The slave owners now heard, the law of the land
And began to feel, its sting first hand
For the Constitution was singing, a brand new song
Shouting slavery un-Constitutional, from the top of its lungs.
Freedom empowered blacks, and gave them hope
Whatever was ahead of them, they felt they could cope
Then the right to vote, birthed a new empire
Replacing ropes with growth, and fires with desire.
With no longer a price tag, upon their heads
The shackles and chains, they couldn’t wait to shed
There was no more running, and no more whippings
No longer a commodity, therefore, no more shipping.
Then, the wizard of Tuskegee, Booker T. Washington himself
Created a curriculum, where blacks challenged themselves
Suggesting them studying skills, using their hands and minds
Thus, maximize their job performance, each and every time.
As blacks started advancing, so did each state
Which diminished some problems, and some of the hate
Industrial growth and inventions, open opportunity’s door
And history only knew, what the future had in store.
Many doors opened, through entertainment and sports
And other life changing rulings, from the Supreme Courts
As the walls of limitation, came tumbling down
The once chained black man, was no longer bound.
Even in the military, blacks proved to be fighters
Some excelled in government, and some became writers
Even in the medical field, though not accepted totally
Blacks contributed immensely, including some discoveries.
Knowing, knowledge is power, and reading is essential
Ben Carson excelled, to maximize his potential
In-spite of poverty and prejudice, and other scourging
He master-mined the brain, and became a Neurosurgeon.
People like Nelson Mandela, aligning with many others
Fought for peace and equality, causing a violent struggle
Though, physically locked down, his voice became his feeder
And he served the people,
