Clues: Metaphysical Lessons from Biblical Characters for Modern Man
()
About this ebook
This book offers an original insight into a metaphysical interpretation of clues that biblical figures have left for modern man. Rev. Glenn Moore finds a unique and often humorous viewpoint as he looks at biblical figures such as Gideon, Daniel, and Legion and makes them so human and so like us.
Rev. Glenn Moore
Seminary trained, Rev. Glenn Moore became an ordained minister for a traditional faith at an early age. After serving as minister, he changed careers and became a successful builder. In his search for a spiritual path that felt right for him, he found Unity and other “new thought” churches. During his intense studies he began speaking in various churches. He has also been asked to speak in secular venues, bringing encouragement and enlightenment spiked with a down-to-earth humor. During this time he served as spiritual leader for five new thought churches. Glenn is currently co-minister along with his wife, Rev. Pat Moore, at Harmony Fellowship of Fort Worth, Texas. PREFACE
A LTHOUGH I HAVE been in ministerial work and have been delivering Sunday messages for many decades, I have not put into book form any of my ideas. I have frequently been encouraged to do so.
Because I was seminary trained for a traditional belief I have a passion for the Biblical word. After leaving traditional religion and starting a search for something more meaningful to me, I still retained my passion for the Bible. My understanding has deepened and widened and I see so much more each time I read Scripture. I now approach this information with a metaphysical understanding.
This series of messages is about the clues that Biblical characters have left that can uplift modern mankind in the daily life of today, with all the little peccadillos and idiosyncrasies that we experience.
I want to thank my wife who takes my spoken word and transforms it into an easy read.
HE GOT WHAT HE ASKED FOR
T HE FIRST TIME I heard the story of the Prodigal Son was a long time ago. I feel like the story of this young man is about an old friend. This guy was sort of tromped on and was made worse than he was. I look at him now with a more philosophical point of view and with a very loving, forgiving attitude and with a great deal of interest.
Luke 15:11-23 (NIV) ¹¹ Jesus continued: There was a man who had two sons. ¹² The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. ¹³
Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. ¹⁴ After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. ¹⁵ So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. ¹⁶ He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. ¹⁷ When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! ¹⁸ I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. ¹⁹ I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ ²⁰ So he got up and went to his father.
But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. ²¹ The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ ²²
But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. ²³ Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.
This young man was on the pathway of life. Everything you glean from literature, from the Bible, or where ever you find it in life, you can see little things that affect you and that make you think about where you are at a certain point in your own life. When you think of the entire scope of your life as it is right now on this particular day, have you ever looked back and thought, "How did
