A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

I would like to prime your mind with a quote by Oscar Wilde, An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all. This novel you are holding arrived on my door step on a stream of consciousness; the information being abstract and esoteric. There are times in our lives when we must utilize all of our resources in order to accomplish our goals. When writing a book, we depend on words to carry the message. But how can one find adequate words to describe a new concept?

When you pick up a novel you may go into the experience with expectations for the story to evolve a certain way. Twitch certainly does not follow a cookie-cutter pattern. It asks of you to approach circumstances differently than you usually would. I used a fair amount of poetic expression and metaphors to paint a picture of our entanglement with the greater weave of existence. At times some paragraphs may seem random; the thoughts disjointed. Intentionally, I want to challenge the reader to take a step outside their comfort zone into the unknown, and beyond the world of their own logic; to think outside the box and use their intelligence in different, creative ways.

Do you have to understand an abstract painting to enjoy its beauty? I wanted to see how much right-side-up can come from up-side-down. Words can be yielded like a paintbrush. And the visions they create can help us tap deeper into the mysteries of the cosmos.

Behind the veil resides a story. It could be your story. Douglas Brooks once said, I am nothing like you. I am something like you. I am nothing but you. We are all blessed with a body, an intellect and a spiritual connection to something larger than our individual selves.

If you are not familiar with tantric philosophy, the concepts may seem outlandish. My intention was to keep true to the message and simultaneously move you into a story you can relate to, with a loose threat running through the narrative. Just as a road map comes in handy when traveling on unknown territory, I have included a compass for your journey through Twitch. You will find the information at the back of the book. It provides an umbrella outline of the characters and how everything fits together.

This is meant as an interactive book, whereby the ending is the new beginning that leads us into open discussion of Twitch ([e-mail]), where we can co-participate to bring more clarity to our individual search of personal truth.

INTRODUCTION

The concept of this book arrived to me in dream form; a stream of visions from a higher consciousness. Additional bits and pieces of information were channeled through over the course of many years. Throughout this journey I felt that I was a pulsating part of the trilogy—composing musician, instrument and melody, alchemically fused into one.

Contemplating the fruits of my labour, I know it took an equal amount of self-effort and surrender to bring completion to Twitch.

It started with a simple desire to give birth to an idea, and now I dare to dream that the book will be a singing minstrel that journeys into the hearts and minds of many people, creating a poetic rapture of remembrance of their own divine spark.

The story unfolds as a light-hearted song that encourages the inner child to come out and playfully sing, dance and laugh at the follies of life.

Twitch can be used as a manual, to serve as a compass for lifting the veil of illusion and duality—a tool so we can get in touch with our vulnerabilities and imperfections, and bask in the revelation that, nonetheless, we are the celebration of the Omnipotent.

As you read on, it is my hope that you will identify yourself with all three characters and realize that you are nothing but ONE.

PART I

Black on white. Ink spills onto the page. In characters that dance to the drums of ancient beats. There are no blank pages. Only knowledge that awaits a conduit through which its truth can emerge; undiluted and pure. Straight from the source of the universal that.

You see these pages are clearly spoken for.

Ease yourself into the scriptures. You may experience contraction blisters before you can cultivate a connection to the expansion of unlimited possibilities within the vessel of your own being. Just like a new pair of shoes that need to be broken in.

Where shall I start this tale of love and discovery? A story where the primal, lustful flesh merges with the adolescent mind to collaborate in the forging of a new self.

Let me start where every good party eventually ends up: in the kitchen. So here I am. Forty something and hunched over the dirty dishes. Keeping my focus on looking sexy even while engrossed in this mundane task. Lately, for some peculiar reason this desire to look attractive seems overly important.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not that shallow. I have depth that is not taught pressing a school bench. I know to be substantial, you have to think substantial. So I think sexy, in a real substantial way, in the hopes that I can turn back the hands of time.

The other day, a close friend shared an epiphany as he nimbly climbed the podium and proclaimed, I went from feeling blessed to feeling guided. I thought, What a lucky fellow. Couldn’t we all use a little guidance? Wouldn’t it be so much easier to lay our load of responsibilities into someone else’s lap as we announce: Why are you judging me? I was guided by a higher energy to take these actions.

Some lunar cycles later

My experientially obsessed life is not unlike the melody of your flute whose sound joyfully arises for no other reason but to give birth to a resonance of truth.

I feel no pressure to be anywhere and bask in the sweet solitude of surrender. On top of that pinnacle I reside with my thoughts. Pen drawn, words my ammunition of choice, and
