About this ebook

Humans ask this question frequently, what is love?! A lot of us believe that we know the true meaning of the word, while in reality; it is a word that has a lot of definitions according to each persons point of view.

Some think that love can be told by words, others think its something felt by actions. But the problem isnt in the meaning of the word. The real question is how far could you go for someone you love?

To what extent would you endure and bear the pain subjected by the one you love? When is it time to let go?! Is it possible?

"Ironic isnt it, we ignore the ones who adore us, adore the ones that ignore us, love the ones who hurt us, and hurt the ones that love us?!"~ Jordan Neil

Yet, sometimes that hurt makes us blind to see the truth. Or maybe what you think is the truth, is actually the camouflage of the truth. Sometimes the truth isnt on the surface. You have to see what lies beyond thatYou have to look for the truth behind truth.

    Chapter 1

    Paradise

Paradise: It is a place in which existence is positive, a place where only peace and happiness can be found.

Throughout my small life time, I found it easy to summarize human beings into four simple statements. We fear rejection, want attention, crave affection and dream of perfection.

Therefore by finding that special someone who would share the rest of your life, you will have achieved true happiness.

Yet, the problem lies within the cycle of life itself.

Nothing is perfect and without loss. It’s close to impossible to find pure love. If you pass rejection, you might not find the deserved attention. Even if we assume true love is found, it won’t be without sacrifice.

But, what we can do is try to reach close to perfection with our loved ones. The key to that is trust. It’s the small seed which if respected and honored, can grow to become a beautiful flower, because love is giving someone the power to destroy you but trusting them not to.

Durham, England, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This picturesque city located on the River Wear in northern England holds a number of local attractions including Raby Castle, and an excellent selection of museums and landscapes… Here is where our story begins.

Eric Alexander is a young man at the age of twenty-two. He is an engineer at a big designing and constructing company called Craft it.

His story all began on a Thursday evening when he was at the club playing tennis as usual, and stopped for a minute when his cell phone rang, he walked towards his bag opened it, got a towel and his ringing cell phone.

When he looked at the mobile screen, he found that it was Amy calling. As always a cheerful smile would make its way every time he saw her name on his phone, and without waiting a minute he answered it while drying the sweat off his face.

Amy, I was just about to call you. He said in a happy tone. He remembered that he was supposed to pass by her but before he could add the word ‘Sorry’.

She replied, Oh really! . . . Where are you Eric?! I’ve been waiting for you forever. Eric pressed on his teeth as he started thinking of a way to get himself out of this kind of mess. He knew that if he told her that he was still at the club, he wouldn’t get enough of her scolding. But from thin air a brilliant idea hit him. He took his breath and collected himself before answering back.

I am so sorry, darling. It’s just that on my way, I stopped by a gift shop to bring you a little something, He said in a friendly tone while closing his eyes and wishing that she would buy it, and to his surprise she did, he found that her cold way of talking changed to a cheerful one.

"Awwww . . . I didn’t know. Well take your time then, I’ll be waiting." Eric ended the call with her and sighed as he put back the towel in his bag.

Well that was close. He said to himself.

He always thought that girls were easily fooled and it was there nature and desire to always want, so bringing a gift was certainly the right decision even if it meant spending a little on something like a teddy bear or whatever, but he needed to act fast as he was already late.

He took his bag and ran quickly to the lockers to take a shower and change. In just five minutes he was ready and rushing out of the club towards his car. He was thinking of what to bring Amy on his way to her. He had to pick something quickly. There was a gift shop just at the corner of her house.

He parked his car in front of the shop and went inside. The owner of the shop greeted him with a laugh. Hey there Eric, passing by to buy another gift for Amy I see. Eric smiled to the man as he crossed by a basket full of teddy bears and he thought to himself that it would be nice to buy her one holding a heart, but the owner soon called out to him showing him a silver box. Eric walked towards the owner and opened the box to find inside of it, a small silver music box.

Eric examined it carefully, and as soon as he opened it, a soft melody started playing. It was nice, he was just about to pay for it when his brown eyes fell on something shiny. He shifted closer to a—mirror shape—box that was placed on the left shelf to find a pair of necklaces, one having a—heart shape—lock in the middle, and the other, having a key lock.

It was perfect, he wouldn’t have asked for something more.

He turned to the owner, I think I’ll take these necklaces instead, Eric stated calmly.

The owner chuckled, Your one tough customer, I was saving those for the valentine, He said, Would have brought me more money.

Too bad for you, my valentine is every day, Eric replied teasingly.

    The owner laughed, Very well.

Eric thanked the owner, made him wrap it up and left the shop walking just a few blocks till he reached Amy’s house.

He stood in front of her door and rang the doorbell. Not long after that Amy opened the door with her usual shining smile, and gave him a hug and a kiss as she saw the gift.

"I wonder what my prince charming brought me this time," She said in a silly way as she unwrapped the gift and lifted up the two necklaces in front of her.

Her eyes showed how much she was pleased with the gift and immediately wore the—lock in the shape of a heart—necklace around her neck and placed the other one around Eric’s neck.

Then, she held his hand tightly as she leaned with her head on his shoulder whispering in his ear. So where are we off to?!

Eric ran his fingers through her hair as he smiled to her and spoke in a soft tone. How about we go rock-climbing today? She seemed to like the idea as she nodded with her head, closing the door and started to walk beside him slowly towards his car.

Nothing made Eric much happier than having to spend time with Amy. They drove together quietly for a while in the beautiful streets of Durham. This city which lies in England and is located in the center of the United Kingdom is known to be the most beautiful city ever. No one could judge that, because with its open green fields, lakes, outstanding landmarks and beautiful weather it makes this city a paradise on earth.

Anyway, while Eric was enjoying the weather and the view, Amy was busy examining her necklace until they reached the hill site which was found in the middle of a forest.

He parked the car and they both continued their way walking towards the hill.

Another moment of silence spread between them where this time Amy was watching carefully a rabbit who had two babies and was trying to protect her young ones from a hungry fox. The struggle lasted for a long while, but in the end the fox after failing several times to snatch one of the two young rabbits as it’s mother was protecting them from the furious animal, it decided to aim at hunting down the mother itself where the fox succeeded, and fled away leaving the two baby rabbits alone.

After Amy saw that dramatic scene, she looked at Eric who was observing the forest from around him and seemed by now to be enjoying the calm weather with a serious—yet-worried look and asked him.

Would you put your life on the line for me? Her voice seemed to be faint as if she was awaiting something terrible to happen.

Eric looked to her at first in a surprised way from the unexpected question, but he then knew that it’s just a simple question, Moreover; it was common for a lot of girls to ask these kinds of silly questions.

Since, it’s rare to find a girl who would give you all her trust from first sight, that’s something you should work hard to achieve from her.

But unfortunately, even if you grasp a girl’s full trust, by the slightest mistake you could have all that hardly attained trust gone to waste. However, he answered in a confident way. Of course I would.

While in reality he didn’t even give the question a thought that if something like that really happened would he really die for her?!!..He wasn’t actually sure that maybe at then he would be willing to give his life in order for his loved one to live on… but his answer sure made the serious and worried look on Amy’s face turn to a normal safe one. It appeared that Amy had faith in Eric that he even wasn’t yet sure of.

But Eric’s face quickly turned pale, and he became speechless as she told him, I would gladly give away my life for you.

Tears started to run down his face as he felt miserable that he wasn’t sure of doing such a thing while she would happily do it.

Did he really treasure his life that much or is it fear of death that made him unsure?!

Whatever it was, it was already a thing of the past because from that moment he made a vow with himself that he would never ever let anyone or anything harm her.

He quickly wiped his tears before she could even notice them and held her closely to him. There is no need to worry about something like that, since as long as you wear that ring we shall always be together.

What Eric had just said could seem to be plain nonsense and an example of stupidity. For a raw metal engagement ring could actually do such a thing. It was sure an over react of his emotions, but it definitely made Amy relaxed and that was a nice fact about most girls.

They are easily emotionally affected both in a good and bad way. You can tell the girl you love just one special word and observe all her anger and pain get washed away, and for most guys that is what mattered most.

He wanted now to change the topic since the idea had made the atmosphere from around them turn disturbing and tensed, so he started to look around him to find anything that might open a new discussion, but they had already reached the check point of the hill.

In this check point people are given the required equipment for climbing as well as a short tutorial for beginners on how to climb.

But Amy and Eric didn’t need lecture on how to climb since they have been doing it for the past year. They just took their backpacks, changed their clothes and started the journey of climbing the hill. It wasn’t a very high hill, just a 400 meter height. But reaching the top was the real deal. The view from the top was unbelievable, just taking a look from the top was worth the climb.

It took them about an hour to reach the top since Amy had a rough time this time over crossing a slippery rock edge of the hill.

The top of the hill wasn’t an empty space as many could think. Unfortunately, the beautiful view was taken advantage of by one of the wealthy business men who opened a café on the top.

There wasn’t anything wrong with having a café. It actually served drinks for the people who made it on top and offered them a nice seat to watch the view from above,
