About this ebook
Do I believe everything I read or hear about the supernatural? Absolutely not! I cannot give an account for others and what they say theyve seen, but only for myself. As I share my stories, telling the truth is imperative for me, and I have written them, from my heart, in honesty and sincerity. For those who are skeptical, I understand, but the Lord clearly tells us about the many spiritual gifts that He gives His children! (1 Corinthians 12) Our world today seems to believe that it is all knowledgeable, since we have such immense technology, but the truth is that we arent open to the supernatural realms that are all around us! We are to have childlike faith! No spiritual gift should ever be placed upon a back shelf to gather times dust. This is why I finally decided to come forward and share The Gift Once Silent.
When Becky Smith writes, her words of inspiration and encouragement come from a heart set on God. Her upbringing in the finest of Christian homes, by Spirit-filled parents, coupled with a personal spirit that is extremely sensitive to her Lord and her surroundings, qualifies Becky to bring inspiration to others, beyond her circle of influence, through the written word. Simply put, Becky Smith is a gifted writer that will touch many lives in a positive way. I am confident that when you read her words, you will think so, too.

The Gift Once Silent - Rebecca Mooney Smith
Chapter 1
The Early Warning
The orange sunset was about to close the day as I played on the grassy bank of our yard in the small town of Kellyton, Alabama. I clearly remember how the trees had created a dark silhouette against the neon sky. I was only five, but that day will forever remain a vivid memory for me.
An older woman from the area had dropped by the pastorium to visit with my parents, and she asked them to pray with her. Since my daddy was the pastor of the Baptist church, my parents readily invited her into our home.
When the woman got ready to leave, she walked over to me in a quick and rigid gait. I did not recognize her and did not recall having seen her before. Her face was hard and gaunt, and she stared at me intensely. Her dark eyes were piercing and cold and I remember how frightened she made me feel. I was a quiet and sensitive child, so I did not understand what I’d done wrong.
When she reached me, she spoke these chilling words in an almost foreboding manner: You better enjoy these happy days, child. You best savor them while you can, cause one day they’ll be gone.
The woman’s spirit was bitter, almost as if she was envious of my childhood bliss. Why did she feel she had to say that to me? Why had she scolded me? Her words played over and over in my innocent mind.
From that minute on I savored every day and even the smallest things, such as a cold raindrop, a glowing lightning bug, or a soft snowfall, but I could not understand the reason for her harsh and strange warning, especially to a child. How could I have even comprehended the word savor?
Mine was a close and loving Christian home, and my family’s lives were centered around the Lord and our church, school, and community. I experienced a secure and delightful childhood, and my life was grounded in Bible teachings. Above all, I sensed God, my family, and others loved me. My godly parents truly lived on a daily basis what they preached and taught. I never heard them argue or speak unkindly to one another or to others, nor had I ever heard them use any slang let alone curse words. They taught my brothers James Paul, Ben and me to be kind and never to be critical of others. What Christian examples they were to everyone they met!
When I was a child, my world seemed so colorful and so perfect, and I knew I was secure. It’s hard to explain, but I felt unique, yet I just assumed that other children heard God speak to them and that they too could sense the difference between good and evil. At that time I did not realize I had the spiritual gift of discerning spirits, as I was far too young to understand 1 Corinthians 12:10 KJV. A few years later I learned my daddy was blessed with this spiritual gift as well.
Little did I know what supernatural occurrences I would witness in the years to come. This was only the beginning of what the Lord had in store for me.
Chapter 2
The Page of Gold
My first supernatural experience occurred in roughly 1962, though I cannot recall the exact date. My father’s church in Kellyton, Alabama, had been experiencing a revival, and the Lord had been moving mightily. Each morning I would wake up to find my parents praying on their knees or stretched out on the living room floor. It was so touching to see them pray until heaven came down and their prayers were answered. What power the Holy Spirit would pour out on them!
Early one morning I heard soft singing coming from the bathroom. The door was slightly open, so I tapped on it, and my mama invited me in. She was sitting in a chair in front of a small gas heater, so I perched on the edge of the tub. She’d been reading in the book of Psalms and singing praises, and I joined in. The Holy Spirit’s presence was upon us, and right before our eyes an entire page of scripture began to glow a brilliant gold. I have no way to explain what we saw except for it having been glory radiating from God’s Word! We witnessed a taste of heaven, and it was absolutely miraculous!
