About this ebook

Torn...The story about love and family. What happens when one has to decide between the two? Choosing one over another may not be the best decision but it's the decision made. One's choice impacts how much they love and who they live their life with.

Tommy is a first generation Middle Eastern Chaldean American who has grown up in two worlds. One is the life he has come to know growing up as a child in America. It's the one he has become accustomed to. The other is the foundation of his culture in which he and his family are deeply rooted. The culture is what make his beliefs, his thought processing and sense of morality. The one thing in the way of making it an easy decision to make is the one person that he would be willing to give it all up for.

He tries to create and maintain love on his own but having his family also be supportive of it is an ongoing battle that he must face on his own. The emotional struggle and turmoil between his heart and his head wears on him. Leaving Tommy only one option; that is to decide.

Wisam Patros

Wisam Patros in Baghdad, Iraq and raised in San Diego, California since he was five years old. He is a Chaldean American who after graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Management started to pursue teaching as a career and began writing. He wanted to portray the cultural backlash that that new young American immigrant face today through his perspective. This is his first book. The first pioneers of the Chaldean people arrived to the United States at the end of the 19th century. They were few in number, but by the mid 20th century, there were many spread all over the country. There are Chaldean communities all over states in the country such as California, Michigan, Arizona. Illinois, Nevada and Washington. A majority of Chaldeans left their country searching for a better life and hoping for a more peaceful and serene atmosphere. They found this atmosphere in the United States because it guarantees life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Although the Chaldeans are proud of their Middle Eastern culture and heritage, they are also grateful to their new country, America.
