G M Sherwin was born and raised in a small village in West Yorkshire and still lives in the north of England with his wife, 3 children and 2 cats, Milo and Bumble. He has spent much of his working life in management for various industries, mainly in the manufacturing and distribution sectors. He wasn’t greatly academic while younger, with the exception of enjoying English, but it was while at school that he penned his first short story which gave him a taste for writing. And it was a love of the Albert Einstein quote, ‘there comes a point in your life when you have to stop reading other people books and write your own’ which spurred him on to write his first book Immortalis. In the future, he hopes to go on to write many more books and that he will be able to entertain a large following of readers with them. When he isn’t working G M Sherwin enjoys spending time with his young family. And if he gets any time to himself he likes to relax with a good book and a glass of red wine. Chapter one
‘D id I not punish you enough the last time?’
Xavier could not move away from the one who had condemned him to this misery. Fear in his one good eye betrayed him to Laura.
Beautiful as she appeared, there was more to her than her looks. He remembered what lay beneath the shell of that human form. What she did to his grandfather and the others.
He looked at Clavell for some sign he could do something, anything not to face her again. He could not go through that again.
‘Oh my poor Xavier, trapped inside that thing you’ve become. Oh, I know, my love that you fear me. You know what I can do, but fear not, I do not plan to keep you like this for an eternity. So, you see you can rest easy now while I deal with these people, but do enjoy the show, won’t you?’ Laura smiled as she moved effortlessly backwards to Clavell’s side.
Three from the crowd rushed to the woman who had stopped tonight’s event. The look she threw them stopped them dead in their tracks.
Laura raised a hand and extended her fingers in their direction. A quick flick of her wrists and the three of them we relieved of their own skin. A sickening sound resounded throughout the room as the skinless men stood for a few seconds more not quite sure of what had just happened before the fell dead to the ground.
The rest of the crowd tried to run for the exit, but none could move an inch, fixed to the spot by invisible hands.
Where there was a once baying crowd stood dozens of scared humans now on the other end of a sacrifice they never saw coming.
Laura content with the situation she had created turned her full attention to Lord Clavell. Her face only inches away from his. Beads of sweat ran down his temples as he faced the one who had despatched his cousin months ago. The demon.
‘Now, where was I? Oh yes – you, Lord Clavell. I’m here for you.’
Clavell sneered back at Laura as he plunged the blade deep into Christine’s chest. There was no time for a scream or protest from her. Christine’s eyes quickly lost focus as the
