About this ebook
A poetry chapbook that describes nature, the fear of drowning, friendship, love and loss in a world that is at times dark but beautiful. My writings here are somewhat influenced by the classic style of Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost; but the words, the moods and settings are entirely my own.
Carol Meiyin
The author is a high school teacher teaching English to 13 and 14 year old boys and girls in the southern state of Johor, Malaysia which is very near to the island country of Singapore. During her free time, she reads and writes poetry. She is a self confessed coffee addict, a part-time book reviewer, and a semi-professional piano player. Writing poetry though, is part of how she breathes in life and expresses her moods.

Dear reader,
Hi! I’m Carol Meiyin.
Just in case you are confused with the name on this book cover, just know that I had to put my full name there for both my parents’ sake. Without them, I’m a total nobody. God bless them.
These are my collection of poems that I have written ever since I was 19. The first poem I wrote was The Old Oak Tree. I remember those as one of my most inspiring times because I went on to write The World Is A Dark And Lovely Place, which inspired the title of this poetry book, and I continued it with The Rainbow’s End and Rain, both of which got published in The Star newspaper in the year 2008. (Yes, I’m that ancient!) The rest is history.
