    Kingpin Wifeys Season 2 - K Elliott

    Chapter 1

Theresa TeTe Myers was forty-five years old but looked thirty-three. She was a physically fit woman even though she hated exercise, and she had the kind of genetics that allowed her to eat as much food as she wanted without ever reaching one hundred and forty pounds. She had a sculpted face with a button nose that she hated. Her hair was shoulder length and full of body. She was five foot six inches tall and she typically dressed conservatively. Her favorite designers were Tory Burch and Chanel. She was classy, elegant and sophisticated, but TeTe had not always been able to buy designer things.

TeTe came from very humble beginnings. She grew up in a trailer park in South Carolina with her grandmother and her twin sister. When the girls were eight years old, their mother was convicted of accessory to armed robbery and murder and given a life sentence.

With no one to take care of them, they had to go live with their grandma, whom they called Big Ma. Big Ma had birthed TeTe’s mother, Lecia, at thirteen and Lecia birthed TeTe and Tessa at fourteen. As a result, her grandma was only twenty-seven years older than TeTe.

Big Ma was functionally illiterate and they were dirt poor. They couldn’t even afford to buy coats in the winter. Everything that they received had come from the Salvation Army, thrift stores and yard sales.

All that started to change when the girls met a drug dealer named Slick, a tall skinny man with permed hair who always wore flashy designer suits. The irony of the situation was that Slick’s brother was a preacher and they dressed exactly the same way. The girls were frequently picked up on the way to high school by Slick, and even though he was almost as old as Big Ma at the time, she didn’t have a problem with him seeking out TeTe. They were poor and Slick helped them out.

He bought TeTe and Tessa clothes, jewelry and cars. Almost overnight, they had gone from being the lowlifes of town to being the town celebrities. All the girls wanted to be like them because they wore the best clothes, and all the men wanted them. Their hair looked the best because, while everybody else got their hair styled in town, Slick would take them to Charlotte and sometimes Atlanta.

But all the money and clothes that Slick had given TeTe didn’t compare to the lessons that he’d taught her about how to make money. Slick was not only a dope dealer, he was also a pimp, and even though he made money selling cocaine, he loved being a pimp. He would always say, Pussy has been selling since the beginning of time and it’s going to sell to the end of time.

That thought always stuck with TeTe. TeTe had been one of Slick’s women from the time she was sixteen until she was twenty-four. She was one of the four women that he called his wives and they were off-limits to everyone except him. The wives all knew that even though he could fuck around freely, they couldn’t be caught with another man. Slick took care of them and they all had to do what he said or get cutoff financially.

Life was great until Slick got busted with four kilos of cocaine and charged with possession and white slavery. He received twenty years in prison. A year after Slick was gone, TeTe and Tessa were flat broke. TeTe sold their cars and moved to Atlanta. Tessa decided that she was going to go to school and become a nurse, but TeTe had bigger plans.

She would take what she learned from Slick and start an escort service. Over time, she became one of the most successful madams in the last twenty years. Her clients were rappers, music producers, politicians and businessmen. She even arranged international trips. One of her biggest clients was a Chinese businessman that was infatuated with Black and Hispanic women. She would send women to stay with him in Shanghai for a month at a time. Each time he called TeTe, she would charge him over two hundred grand—she loved those international calls. Being a madam had enabled her to live an amazing life of luxury cars, expensive jewelry and exotic vacations.

And today TeTe was celebrating her daughter Butterfly’s eighth birthday.

    *****

Eight kids were invited to the birthday party. Four of them were Butterfly’s cousins and the other four were random kids TeTe had invited. Butterfly didn’t have any friends because she was a spoiled, pretentious brat. No kids ever wanted to be around Butterfly thanks to her mother. Ever since she could talk, her mother had told her that she was special, and named her Butterfly.

The eight kids sang Happy Birthday to Butterfly as she sat at the head of the table. TeTe had declared her a princess for a day, so she wore a pink fairy princess costume with a tiara on her head. A three tiered, pink and white Chanel cake sat on the table about an arm’s length away and some of the parents whispered among themselves that the cake was way too extravagant for a child. Luckily, TeTe didn’t hear their grumblings because she would have definitely cursed them the fuck out in front of their kids.

Butterfly was her only child and TeTe dubbed her a miracle child since her doctor had told her she wouldn’t be able to have children because of her uterine fibroids. And he’d been right until TeTe reached thirty-six years of age. A gangster named Tyrod impregnated her with Butterfly. Shortly after, Tyrod had been convicted on drug conspiracy and weapons charges and sentenced to fifteen years.

The doctor warned her that there might be complications and possible birth defects, but TeTe wanted a child and accepted the risks. TeTe’s beautiful butterfly was born a healthy, eight pounds and one ounce baby girl.

TeTe had lived without a man for five years and primarily focused on her work until about a year ago when she met Eli, a man who was twelve years her junior. He made her feel alive again. She’d never thought she would like younger men, but Eli made her feel like she was in high school again and she figured why not have a younger man. She had money and a child, so there was nothing else she really needed from a man except companionship. Since it was okay for successful men to have a younger woman, she figured why not her? And that’s where Eli came in. Eli only had three jobs—being her boy-toy, fucking her and making her happy. In return, she paid all his bills and let him drive around in her luxury cars.

When the kids finished singing Happy Birthday, Butterfly successfully blew out the eight candles. TeTe told Eli to cut the cake and then told Butterfly and the kids to form a single line. The party guests all lined up with pink paper plates in hand waiting to get a piece of the delicious-looking Chanel cake.

Eli ran to the other side of the table with a knife in his hand, about to slice the birthday cake, when Butterfly stood up on the chair.

I don’t wanna cut my cake yet, she said, standing on her chair.

After all, she was the princess and she had the ridiculous tiara to prove it. She had a right to stand on the chair. This was her day—or so she thought.

TeTe approached her daughter and whispered, If you don’t sit your ass down. I’mma whoop your little ass right here in front of everybody.

Butterfly sat down in the chair with her bottom lip protruding.

TeTe said, Why don’t you want to eat your cake right now? All of your friends are standing in line for cake.

Those ain’t my friends, she pouted.

TeTe scanned around the room, observing the face of the parents and began to feel a little embarrassed.

Then Butterfly said, I want to open my gifts first.

Eli, we’re going to open the gifts first, and then we can eat the damned cake, TeTe said, becoming angry.

The kids were still in line and TeTe instructed them to have a seat.

After they sat down, Eli brought the gifts to the table. Butterfly ripped into her gifts and discovered she had gotten some dolls, a bicycle and gift cards to Justice, her favorite store. She seemed unimpressed with it all because she didn’t offer so much as a hint of a smile. When she ripped into the last gift that Eli had brought her, a Samsung tablet, all the kids at the table were impressed.

    Wow, one kid said.

Another said, Man, that tablet is awesome. I want one for my birthday.

Butterfly stared at the tablet for about three seconds before slamming it hard on the floor,
