He joined the United Kingdom Government after his graduation and quickly rose to the position of an Economic Adviser. He left the Government in 1971 to join the World Bank in Washington D.C. U.S.A. He worked there till 1980 and rose to the position of a Senior Economist (1980). At the World Bank, he traveled extensively across the globe and gained exposure and firsthand experience on some of the major Political, Economic and Social Development problems across the globe. In some of his economic and political analyses in the World Bank , he confronted some of these Economic , Political , Religious and Philosophical issues in some countries in Asia, Middle East , Africa including such countries as Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran , Tunisia and Libya where he worked. Therefore he was not surprised with the on-going crises and wars in these countries because of his concerns over their lack of Christian pillars of modern civilization, democracy, and governance. His experience and exposure had inspired his analyses in these four books.
Back in Nigeria in 1980, he became one of the countrys pioneers in Indigenous Banking and the Establishment of the First African Commodity Exchange. During his twenty years in Nigeria (1980-2000), he embarked on the audacious mission of bringing his global exposure and experience to contribute to the development of Nigerias Finance and Private sectors to lead its National Development. His Book on MISSION 2000 highlights his audacious dream for Nigerias Private sector to lead the Countrys emergence in the global world of the new century. The Book also reflected the views he promoted while working as a Consultant for the Nigeria Government, The World Bank , African Development Bank and The U.S.A.I.D. His pioneering projects in Nigerias Banking and Trade sectors exposed him to the weakness of Nigerias Politics and Governance. So he decided to take a shot at Nigerian Politics.

FOREWORD

Vitalis Nwaneri and I met for the first time in 1968 at the Graduate School of the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, where he was taking his graduate courses in Economics. We have been close friends since then.

Vita, as we all call him, has a passion for several fields of study. I was not surprised therefore when, at the end of his graduate studies, he was quickly appointed by the British Government as one of the few African born Economists in Her Majesty’s Government Service He quickly rose to the position of an Economic Adviser and then left for the World Bank. There, he rose to the position of a Senior Economist by 1980. He returned to Nigeria in 1980 to undertake pioneering work in the Banking and Foreign Trade Sectors.

I discovered later that underlying all his passions was his deep faith in the Catholic Church. I am not surprised therefore that he had the audacity to venture into the topic of this book. He had shown similar audacities in taking up challenging and pioneering ventures in Nigerian Banking and later the Establishment of the First African Commodity and Futures Exchange in Nigeria.

This book is, without any doubt, one of his greatest ventures and a clear demonstration of his audacity and Faith. In the book, he takes up a topic that would challenge many experts in Religious and Global Affairs. In a world bewildered by what he calls "The Crises of Realism, Secularism and Relativism in Politics, Morality and Human affairs, Vita offers what looks like a very simple explanation, We Are At War With Satan, Man’s Only Enemy. With that explanation, Vita undertakes fascinating journeys across the globe, tackles very complicated issues and reaches profound Conclusions and Recommendations.

As a Professor of Economics and a Community leader in Nigeria, I welcome Vita’s proposals as a new way to confront local and national conflicts especially in my own country Nigeria where corruption and bad governance had been the principal weapons used by the agents of the enemy, Satan against the people to cause conflicts from the family to the national levels. Therefore, I have little hesitation in recommending the book not only to religious and political leaders but also individuals at all levels across the world especially in Africa. To my fellow Economists, I recommend the book as having a most interesting view of global trends towards a breakdown of the global economy as a result of the conflicts of terrorism and other crises in international governance. Vita attributes these conflicts to the gradual erosion of the political and economic pillars of governance established under the principles of Christ’s teaching. He shows that Satan is behind these erosions and conflicts. He then calls for a coordinated defense and counter strategies by the secular and religious authorities to minimize these attacks by the enemy and avoid a breakdown in the global political and economic structures. PREFACE

This book reminds the world that, in the midst of its current conflicts, crises and wars, from the family to the global levels, we should find time to reflect on these wars and conflicts and ask some basic questions.

Who is behind these conflicts? Who are the leaders of the two sides in the war? What are their goals, strategies, weapons and who are their soldiers and managers? What are the historical and philosophical bases for the wars. What options do we have and what rewards do we expect from fighting on either side of the wars?

This Book reflects on some of these questions and provides some answers. It starts by reaffirming that our mission in life is to know, love and serve God, love and help our neighbor. However, God’s enemy, Satan, has a goal to obstruct our life mission through its attacks, crises, conflicts, corruption, lies and deceptions. As a result of these, WE ARE AT WAR WITH SATAN, MAN’S ONLY ENEMY…

It wages its wars, wearing a mask to disguise its ugly face. Thus it deceives us into blaming our fellow brothers and sisters as the source of our crises. It urges us to hate and attack our neighbors who we are commanded by God to love. We are therefore in a Spiritual war, fighting to do Good and avoid Bad actions in our lives.

The Book also affirms that the pillars of modern civilization, development, peace and stability, from the personal to global levels, were established on Christ’s principles provided to us from His teaching. People and Nations that reject the principles of His teaching are destined to face political, economic and social crises in this world and risk His promise of eternal life in hell after His Judgment if they do not repent.

The Book surveys the experience of Communist countries that had faced political, social and religious suppression because they are instigated by Satan to reject these pillars. The Muslim countries are currently witnessing unprecedented political and social revolutions because of their lack of these pillars in governance and the demand by their people for the pillars to be introduced in their governance. Most developing countries who Satan instigates to corrupt Christ’s pillars had slow progress in their economic, social and political developments. The book is therefore a warning to those secular leaders who want to drive God out of the public square. It is also a call on the followers of Christ to unite and embrace the Pope’s call for a New Evangelization to confront the enemy. They should not listen to the enemy’s divisive attacks being launched through its lies and deceptions paraded through the global media. Its desperate attacks on Christ’s followers had got to the point of using those who claim to be His followers to promote a denial of Christ’s fundamental principles and pillars. A recent example is the denial by its agents of the existence of hell fire as paraded in the front Cover page of TIME Magazine of April 25, 2011 titled, What if there’s No Hell?.

This Book therefore calls on all people to carry their crosses and follow Jesus, the Leader of the Good Army and avoid Satan, the Leader of the Bad Army in our war.

Our Good Soldiers are the Good Theological Virtues that God gives us—faith, love, humility, true freedom, forgiveness, obedience, good works and support to our neighbors. These are also Christ’s pillars that form the foundation of modern civilization and governance.

The Bad Soldiers are Satan’s vices and sins,—greed, over ambition for worldly materialism, power, religious and political persecution, bodily enjoyments through sexual vices that lead to abortion, divorce, child abuse and other criminalities and evils.

The rewards to those fighting on God’s side are the Blessings of God here on earth and His gift of Eternal life in Heaven. The enemy’s rewards are the Conflicts it brings to us in this world and hell fire in the life hereafter.

As we shall argue in this book, the War Grounds start from our Hearts and Minds. There, our good conscience and virtues fight the enemy’s soldiers in a first phase as Temptations. Depending on which side wins, the battle emerges to the surface as Good or Bad Actions that bring good or bad Challenges before us.

Satan’s Target in the war is man and all his institutions, from his family to the church and governments, their agencies and international institutions. Through its corruption of God’s divine love (Agape), the enemy promotes its love of the flesh,(Eros) that leads to sins of adultery, abortions, prostitution, sex trafficking and all sorts of crimes across the globe. Its corruption of Freedom, independence and materialism brings discrimination, greed, inequality and abuse of human rights within the secular governance

The Enemy’s Tactics and Strategies are the same that it used with Adam and Eve.

It starts by saying that God is a liar. Then with its lies, deceptions, corruptions and distractions, it lures us to follow its worldly offers of enjoyment, wealth, power, influence and other attractions, only to throw us into misery at the end.

The book gives numerous examples in politics, entertainment, sports and business sectors how Satan promises us heaven on earth and beyond but delivers hell in the end.

It tells us that there is no hell where its followers shall be condemned. Such a deception is evident in a recent TIME Magazine Cover Page Review (cited above), of one Pastor Rob Bell’s recent controversial best seller book, Love Wins. According to the Review, it is A Book about Heaven, Hell and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived. As the Book’s sub-title puts it, every person who ever lived on earth could have a place in heaven. According to the TIME Review, if we adopt Bell’s view, we erase the distinction between the Church and the World. Then you don’t need the church, you don’t need Christ and you don’t need the cross. This is the tragedy of Pastor Bell’s book.

We will show in this book that this type of view promotes the mission of Satan who is using individual persons like Pastor Bell to achieve its mission. As The TIME magazine stated, ‘The book had ignited a new holy war in Christian circles and beyond. This is the war we are highlighting in this book. As we shall argue, the major goal of the enemy is to cause division within Christ’s army under His Church. Over the centuries it had used people like Pastor Bell to promote division within the Church Is it any surprise then that Christ prayed to His Father that His followers may remain One" He then proceeded to set up that One Church and promised that His enemy, Satan shall not prevail over it. As the world history had confirmed His promise had prevailed despite Satan’ continuous attacks and wars. His Church will continue to prevail despite the likes of Pastor Bell.

This Book also highlights the Costs and Benefits for either side in this war. At the final judgment, we shall face heaven or hell, no other option. As Christ warned, What would it benefit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul in hell.

We lose our soul by misusing God’s great gift of Freewill to us to choose to follow him or the enemy. As we shall argue, God allows sufferings, crosses and wars because He does not want to be a dictator over our use of His Freewill gift. As He did with Adam and Eve, He allows the enemy to tempt us but promised to reward or punish us as He did for Adam and Eve. Pastor Bell needs to be reminded of this fact of life.

The Church is Our Manager in the Warfront.

The War Management is undertaken by the Church that Christ established on the Rock of Peter. For over two thousand years, His Church had provided key military management services such as recruitment, nourishment, treatment, instructions, war codes and guidance. It had also established Christ’s principles as the pillars of modern civilization for two Thousand years.

THE FIVE JOURNEYS

To illustrate the above concerns, the Author takes the reader on five journeys across the globe—Historical, Ideological, Geographical, Philosophical and Scriptural or Spiritual journeys to survey the war perspectives on each journey. The Historical journey surveys the war since its declaration in the Garden of Eden when God cursed Adam, Eve and the serpent. It traces it through the Old and New Testaments to the present. The Geographical journey takes across the globe. It surveys the warfronts of bad governance in Africa, the Crises of Relativism, Intelligent Design, Freedom and Enjoyment in the advanced countries of America and Europe where the enemy seeks to drive God out of the public square, and replace Him with it. We move on to survey the on-going Culture of Death arising from the wars on religious terrorism by fundamentalists in the Islamic countries, Communism in China, North Korea and Cuba, drug and human trafficking in Latin America and Africa and abortions in the USA and Europe.

OUR PROTECTION

As Pope Benedict XVI stated in his 2011 Easter homily, our consolation is that Christ has risen and is with us as we carry our crosses and follow Him. He walks with us as He did with the disciples on their way to Emmaus. We should recognize His presence in our midst (Emmanuel) at the sharing of the Bread and wine in the Eucharist. Only the Cross of Christ will frighten and drive Satan and its agents away from us as we saw when Christ drove it into the herd of pigs.

We cannot fight the spirit with human weapons. As St Paul advised, we must fight it with spiritual power of God. As a popular Nigerian Igbo song says, Count your Blessings one by one and see the wonders God has done for you. Also count your conflicts one by one and see the tragedies Satan is causing in our lives.

So We Pray and Follow Jesus

Prayer is another main weapon in our warfront. We shall therefore suggest in this book our warfront prayers. Christ prayed to His Father on the Cross to Forgive His killers for they knew not what they did. Yes, we must pray also to Our Father, Forgive Us our Trespasses for we know not what we do. So, let us carry our crosses and follow Jesus. He is The Way, the Life and the Truth.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION—PART 1

A. The World Is Rapidly Drifting Through Spiritual Crises and Wars

In the midst of current global crises of Realism, Relativism, Secularism and growing Culture of death, we should find some quiet time to meditate and reflect on these global developments. Every day, we are bombarded with news on these crises. We see the evils of terrorism committed on the basis of religiously inspired bombings by terrorists in the Muslim countries of the Middle East, Asia and Africa. These countries are also witnessing unprecedented revolutions by their people demanding for democratic principles of freedom, justice, equality and good governance from their rulers. These principles are the foundation pillars of modern civilization In this book, we meditate and then reflect on these Crises and ask some basic questions.

B. Three Basic Questions

1) Who Established the Democratic Principles and Pillars of our Modern Civilization?

Any honest study and analysis of history would show that the Principles which form the foundation of our modern Civilization were taught by Jesus Christ and established as the Pillars of Modern Civilization through the work of His Church. Before His coming, the world system of governance lacked these principles. All across Europe and the new world of America, we see how Christ’s Church established the structures of Education and Christianity through which good governance was taught, promoted and spread to the rest of the world.

These pillars had been established by His Church from the family to the Global levels of life. Through His teaching and experience, Christ showed the individual person how to love, forgive, help, be just and righteous to all including his enemy. The teachings were then spread through education by His Church from the individual to family, community, nation and global levels. Through His Church the structures were built and firmly established as the pillars of modern civilization.

2) Who is behind the corruption of these Pillars?

In this book we shall argue that Satan is responsible for all our crises through its corruption of these pillars. It is true that Man follows his freewill to obey Satan’s temptations. However, Satan goes around in a mask to attack us and most of us are unaware of its presence or simply deny its responsibility for our wars and crises. We therefore argue in this book that we should strenghthen the pillars by loving, forgiving and helping our brothers and sisters including the terrorists. Those who are used by Satan to corrupt the pillars should be rescued and forgiven because they know not what they are doing. They may not know that the enemy is behind their terrorist actions Rather, we should focus on how to rescue them by fighting back at Satan to reduce the level of its crises. This is the mission and war discussed in this book.

3). Why wait till the Crises hit before seeking Help from God?.

These days, we wait until the Earthquake hits, Tsunami flows or 9/11 Bombing Strikes before we begin to pray for deliverance from God. Most of us are even instigated by Satan to deny that God exists and can help us. So they wait or refuse to be realistic until the devil strikes before they become realistic and seek God’s help. We should keep close to God through daily prayer and obedience of His commandments. We shou;ld see and keep Him close by us and see His hand all around us rather than deny Him due to the Enemy’s temptations.

This is the main Crisis facing us, the Crisis of Realism, doing nothing, refusing to pray, preferring to enjoy until it is too late. Most people these days refuse or have no time to come to God. They spend most of their time on worldly enjoyments and entertainments. Some in public places or positions even push God aside in the name of Separation of Religion from secularity, until the Tsunami strikes and we rush to look for where we put our prayer books. This is thye Crisis of Secularism we are facing in politics and the public square. This Book calls on all believers to join the New Evangelization recently launched by Pope Benedict XVI and put all hands on deck to drive out Satan, the only enemy in our lives. It is the one who is behind what the Vatican calls the Growing Crisis of De-Christianization across the globe. This book is therefore our humble contribution to the New Evangelization. We therefore review below the crises and wars we are facing in different regions across the globe.

C. Crises in Advanced Countries

The advanced countries of the U.S.A and Europe are being torn apart by the following crises in their lives, societies and governance;

a)   The Crisis of Realism and Materialism

The crisis of Realism is shown through the growing trends in peoples’ interpretation of the concepts of freedom, independence, love and their denial of various principles that Christ taught and made the pillars of modern civilization. There is increasing culture of denial that Christianity built the structures of modern science, education and civilization. Through education and teaching on Faith in One God, the Church built these structures all around us. Some people now attribute these pillars of modern civilization established by Christ’s teaching to the Renaissance and other civil and philosophical sources. In his EWTN program, Fr. Thomas Dubey stated that the most remarkable of the crises of Realism is the Crisis of Materialistic Science. It breeds the increasing denial of Creation and Intelligent Design of human and non-human beings and their environments by God. He noted that despite the abundance of evidence of creation and intelligent design all around us, most people, including public and corporate officials and government leaders in the political, legal and other institutions are victims of these crises and denials. He surveyed these crises in his program on Religion, Morality and Certitude. He showed the amazing intelligence in the design of all human and non-human beings as well as all aspects of our natural environments. He looked at the cells of human bodies, the functioning of human parts and body parts of animals, insects, birds, plants, flowers and millions of other things of nature to show the amazing work and intelligence behind them. He concluded by stating that the denial of the intelligence behind their existence and functions is beyond human comprehension. We shall examine all these crises of Realism in this book starting in the Introductory chapter with a summary of the Biblical origin of Creation and its intelligent design by God. We hope to show that only Satan can twist the minds of most of the learned people who are its victims in these denials.

b)   Growing Crisis of Relativism

This is the crisis that is turning Truths upside down. Satan is behind the increasing denials of our traditional and religious concepts of Truth and Morality. The crisis is driven by the fanatic and selfish misinterpretation of Truth and Morality in pursuit of selfish freedom, independence, human rights and unhindered liberalism. Just as scientists are instigated by Satan to promote the denial of intelligent design of nature to enhance their professional esteem, an increasing number of people are now instigated by Satan to parade this fanatic, selfish denial of Truth and Reason to enhance their selfish interests. We shall show in the Introductory chapter on Biblical Journey how Satan corrupts the traditional unity between Reason and Faith to remove their harmony and promote Relativism in man’s concepts of Truth. It then makes its agents in the society to promote its corrupted concepts of freedom, independence and morality in order to gain self control of their sinful lives. Such traditional Truths of the humanity of children in the wombs are being denied to promote selfish and sinful quests for abortion. The sanctity of marriage and unity of the family as commanded in God’s Covenant are similarly corrupted for selfish interests. They call their movements Free Choice, which clearly explains their quest for freedom to twist and corrupt traditional concepts of Truths in order to promote selfish desires for abortion. We shall survey this crisis below to show that only Satan can instigate such denials.

c)   Growing Crisis of Secularism

As with the crises of Realism and Relativism, Satan is also behind the increasing crisis of Secularism in most countries across the globe. Satan’s agents in the public square are instigated to cause crises in secular governance. Their goal is to drive God out of the public square and replace His principles and pillars of governance with Satan’s corrupted ones. Towards this goal, Satan is gradually twisting the minds of officials in top legislative, judicial and executive government institutions to make them seek personal or group political power, wealth, influence and other aspects of material selfishness. They know that Christ’s pillars are obstructions to their selfish quests for power and wealth. So they fight to remove these pillars through their use of the separation of religion from the secular state. This is evident in the growing corruption of the principles of the separation of religion from politics. Satan urges political leaders to interpret this separation to mean driving God out of politics and the public square generally.

d)   The Crisis of Individualism

Satan is extending secularism from the public to the personal levels through the growing crisis of individualism. This denies Faith in God and His commandments in preference for the worship of a variety of gods of selfishness—sex, wealth, power, enjoyment, criminal acts of murder, drug trafficking etc. As a result, there is a growing rate of denial of sinful actions, power of prayer, repentance to God and even the love and presence of God in our family and community squares. Satan uses man’s good inventions like television, radio, movies and the internet to drive God out of our homes. Youths are being lost to drugs, criminalities and sexuality. There was a recent report in the USA that a mother left her baby to drown in the bath tub because she was busy watching the television and internet. When questioned in the court, she told the police that the child wanted to be left alone and was a very independent baby. The mother was thirty four years old and the baby was only a year old. She was also a single mother. Thus family unity and responsibility are being destroyed in large and increasing numbers because of single family homes and Satan’s corruption of the concepts of freedom and independence.

e)   Crisis of the Culture of Death

As a result of the above crises, there is a growing culture of death through the following:

i)   Increasing rate of abortion—

There is a rising rate of abortion through which thousands of unborn kids are killed daily in pursuit of Satan’s corrupted freedom, enjoyment, and independence. As we noted above, this crisis of abortion illustrates most vividly the power of Satan to blind us from the Truth, Reason and Reality. Throughout his existence, man had believed that life on earth starts from the conception in the womb. Indeed this is true of all lives. Humans and animals were created and commanded by God to increase and multiply and fill the earth. All through his history, man had shared this mission of procreation with all animals. The great people of history had their emergence recorded from their mother and father who conceived and gave birth to them. John the Baptist was said to have jumped and welcomed Jesus while still in his mother’s womb.

Suddenly, this great tradition and faith had been turned upside down by those who claim that life no longer begins from the womb. Some of these people still pray to Jesus who is the fruit of Mary’s womb. In this book we attribute this crisis to the enemy. It is clearly instigated by Satan, who has power to twist our minds if we yield to its temptations. It does the same in other crises in the culture of death.

ii)   Crimes of Trafficking, kidnapping, murder etc

There is also the crisis arising from increasing rates of crimes of murder, assassinations and kidnapping in Africa and Latin America committed in selfish quest for wealth, power and enjoyment. Crimes from addictions to drugs, sex and human trafficking and pornography are also on the increase in both developing and advanced countries of Europe and America.

In countries like Nigeria human kidnapping for money had exploded and become the frontline issue in the country’s politics because people are increasingly afraid to visit the rural areas for fear of being kidnapped by gangs who demand millions of Naira before their release. In Latin America, drug trafficking had frustrated administrators.

e)   Crisis of Traditional Marriage versus Same Sex Relationships

As we noted above, another crisis of Realism in the advanced countries arises from the conflicts between the traditional and religious concepts of marriage versus the growing interest in same sex marriage. As in the case of abortion, the traditional and religious concepts of marriage are now being corrupted through Satan’s attacks on the unity between man and woman. In our view this attack illustrates clearly the power of Satan to twist our minds and hearts to attack us. Only a few years ago, any one told of a marriage between man and man or woman and woman would be shocked at the idea. It goes against the traditional and religious concepts of marriage across the world and across history.

Marriage in God’s Covenant with Adam

As we noted in our third General Introductory chapter, marriage is at the root of God’s Covenant with Adam. As such marriage is a holy action and not just a man’s enjoyable action. As Scott Hahn noted in his EWTN program on the Bible only Satan can corrupt such a holy act into a sinful sexual enjoyment action. Marriage is holy because God commanded Adam and Eve to go forth, increase and multiply, rule and subdue the earth and guard it. This is the first Covenant given to Adam and Eve. Marriage and procreation was part of this Covenant as can be seen in the first command to increase and multiply. The command did not apply to man and man because Eve’s body was clearly different from Adam’s. Only Satan was able to utilize this body difference to attack man’s covenant with God through same sex marriage.

Now even the U.S. Government had issued a notice that its government would no longer defend the traditional concepts of marriage. Already many States in U. S. are legalizing Same Sex marriages. The President’s decision would open the door and speed up the spread of this crisis. In a recent EWTN homily, Fr. Joseph Mary noted the following reaction of Arch-Bishop Dolan, the President of the U.S. Conference of Bishops (USCB) on the President’s decision. He said that the decision goes against the common sense of every human being because it defies the nature of man and woman created by God with different parts of the body designed to attract each other to fulfill the function of procreation of children as intended by God. Secondly, the claim of discrimination by same sex movements defies common sense because recognizing the differences in the bodies of man and woman cannot be discriminatory. As we had maintained all through this book, although God gave equal rights for man and woman He gave them different bodies to perform different functions. Only the devil is responsible for twisting the mind to ignore these differences and functions. Yes, only Satan can cause all these crises. It is capable of twisting the mind such that it calls day light darkness and night day. This issue of same sex, homosexuality, pornography, etc. proves the power of the enemy over us. Some officials in the U.S. Government cannot see the damage done to the family and children as a result of growing crisis of same sex marriage. What type of families will the USA have when most people become families of man and man or woman and woman? What a world would that be? It must be so sickening to children to watch men kissing their fellow men in public during their victory celebrations. How can men participate in functions meant for men only and discuss their sexual issues? Even Satan itself would be abhorred, if it were capable of seeing evil actions. But it is not.

f)   Crisis of Apostasy and Worship of One God

A major crisis reviewed in Volume 3 on Biblical references is that of growing Apostasy and falling Faith and Worship of God at personal, family, community and national levels. We argued in the third General Introduction that God’s Covenants with Man as described in the Bible underline man’s Worship of Him at all levels of his life. Sadly, today His covenant with man is being eroded by falling level of worship and growing rate of Apostasy across the globe. People are lured by the enemy to worship its gods of enjoyment, power, wealth, sex and business. Most people have little or no time to attend services or pray in their homes because all their time is consumed by Television, Radio, the Internet at home and business and politics outside the home. The world therefore puts more focus on worldly than spiritual pursuits.

E. Crisis of Muslim Radicalization and Persecution of Christians

Last, but by no means the least of the Global Crises surveyed in this book, is the Crisis of Islamic Radicalization across the globe. Many people view this as the most serious of all the global crises facing the world today. In a recent EWTN interview on the World Over Live program, Raymond Aroyo discussed the root of this crisis with Mr. Robert Reilly, the Author of a New Book titled ‘The Closing of the Muslim Mind. According to Mr. Reilly’s authoritative survey of the growth and Theology of Islam, Bin Laden declared the underlying belief in Islamic radicalization that under the Religion of Islam it is mandatory on Muslims to kill non-Muslims. He said Christians are killed on the grounds of Koran’s teaching that it is mandatory to kill infidels, or anyone suspected of being infidels. Accordingly, Muslims who commit suicides through acts of bombing innocent infidels are declared Martyrs and therefore said to be glorified in heaven. Conversion to Islam through killing an unbeliever is said to be mandated in the Koran. We need to compare this belief to that of Christians who cannot force conversion to Christianity even on their own children. According to the teaching of Christ, conversion must be made free and personal decision. Hence at Baptism, one is asked if he believes in Christ. All adults must freely and willingly answer yes to this question before being baptized. After a Yes answer, the convert is washed in holy water and made clean from original sin He is then free to join the army of Christ’s believers. Thus there is no meeting point between Islam and Christianity on this fundamental principle. How then can this crisis of radicalism be solved?

(a) No Solution in sight as these Crises Explode

Raymond Aroyo then posed the fundamental question any none asks, how the crisis arising from this radical belief can be solved since no one can negotiate with them based on Reason. Mr. Reilly replied saying that a solution depends on the use of Reason between the two Religions. However, Mr. Reilly regretted that it would be impossible because the two Religions are directly opposed on the use of Reason. While Christians believe that their God is a God of reason, the Muslims do not share such a belief. To them God is a God of Will and not one of Reason. While the Christian Church believes in Christ as the only Son of God, the Way, Life and Truth and as such the source and summit of reason, Muslims believe that the Koran was dictated directly by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Mohammed. Therefore its contents make no room for Reason because one cannot reason with God. Those contents are said to mandate killing of infidels and one cannot argue or reason over that mandate. There is therefore no meeting of the roads between Christianity and Islam on this issue.

b) Christian Persecution in Islamic Countries

As a result of Islamic Radicalization, Christians in the Muslim nations are being persecuted, discriminated and driven out of their countries in ever increasing numbers. The global world sits and watches these persecutions without much concern or efforts to rescue the situation. While Christians practice their faith by granting full freedom to their Muslim brothers in Christian dominated countries, the Muslims claim to practice their own Faith through persecution, torture and murders of so called infidels. The terrorists claim that these are mandated by their religion and blasphemy laws. Catholics pray at each Mass for their Muslim brothers to be rescued and stop persecuting Christians in their countries. The radical Muslims respond at each of their services on Fridays by calling for more killing of infidels. Only through cooperation between religious and secular authorities as recommended in this book can the situation be resolved and Christians regain their freedom to practice their faith at home and in foreign countries as their Muslim brothers have freedom to practice their faith in Christian ruled nations.

c) On-Going Crisis of Islamic Political Revolutions

One wonders how the Middle Eastern countries can now be saved from the current spreading revolution across the region. The revolution is based largely on the demand of their people for the democratic principles that this book describes as the pillars of Christ’s teaching. It would not be easy to operate full democracy outside Christianity in such environments with Sharia governance which does not fully recognize equality and human rights of women. France has passed a law forbidding the marginalization of Muslim women in France but even some Muslim women are protesting against the law as interference with their religious freedom. In the US there had been numerous reports of Muslim fathers murdering their own daughters for their interests in non-Muslim men. They execute such daughters for bringing shame to the family and for violating Sharia laws. Under such law, Muslim girls are forbidden to interact or marry non-Muslims. France had also been fighting for the rights of Muslim women to dress like other Christian women.

How then can one extend to them democracy with freedom, independence, equality, Faith, Hope and Love of God and neighbor, including love of our enemies?. All of these are the principles that Christ introduced. These principles were first taught in the Middle East region after Europe. The Middle East Christianity was overrun by Islamic army’s. Since then Christianity had been declining to a small minority status, overwhelmed by its opposing Islam. This is the crisis facing the Middle East and the world today. Radical Muslims are therefore clashing head on with the rest of their moderate secular rulers. As the crisis grows, the world Authorities and leaders like the U.S.A had folded their hands watching their Christian brothers slaughtered daily. They feel unconcerned or incapable to protect them because of fear of terrorists or fear of their tampering with their oil imports. In the meantime the opposing concepts of Faith, Freedom, Reason and Will continue to converge towards an explosive crisis.

They engine of these crises is being driven by no one but Satan who alone stands to gain from the crises.

F. The Crises in Developing Nations

The Latin American and some African countries are losing their grips on governance, tradition, identity and culture due to increasing level of political corruption and financial fraud as well as crimes of kidnapping, sea pirating, drug trafficking and assassinations. As a result of these crises, these countries have lost their good traditions and cultures. They are becoming havens for agents of Satan. In addition to their home made crises, they import Satan’s corrupted principles from the advanced countries because they believe that whatever is good for America and Europe is good for them. As a result their traditional good principles of honor, respect and justice are rapidly being replaced by Satan’s corrupted principles of bad governance. All the good principles, institutions and culture left by their former Christian followers during their colonial rules are now being trampled underfoot and Christianity is fighting for its survival.

H. Our Concerns

1. Attacks on the Family and Church

One of the targets of the enemy in all the above battles across the globe is Family and the Church. As we shall show in the Introductory chapter below on Biblical Journeys the family is built on God’s covenant with Adam in which He commanded Adam and Eve to go forth, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. This covenant is unbreakable. Accordingly, G.K. Chesterton said, the family is the only secular state established directly by God and should not be broken. The Catholic Church is the religious State established directly by God through His covenant when Jesus said On this rock I will establish my Church and the power of Satan cannot prevail over it.

These two institutions of the family and the church are major targets of Satan because Faith in God depends on them. It attacks the Church with its weapon of division into different denominations. It attacks the family also with the weapon of division through divorce and now Same Sex marriages. In Africa and Latin America it employs its weapons of corruption and criminality. In the Islamic countries it uses its weapons of division, blasphemy and terrorism to terrorize and divide religious and family institutions.

2. Christ’s warnings on the Crises

Christ warned us to expect these crises from His enemy. These warnings are now being reflected in the current Global Crises. Some of these are highlighted in this book. They include the following two warnings.

a) Those who claim to see are now blind.

After Christ cured the man who was blind from childhood and the Scribes and Pharisees criticized Him for curing on the Sabbath, Jesus rebuked them and warned that those of them who claim to see will remain blind. This statement was also made by Ezekiel, when he warned against those who have eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear.

It is quite evident today across the globe that we are having increasing number of people like the Scribes and Pharisees in front of our leadership from the community, nation to global levels. An underlying factor in the global crises outlined above is the fact that most of the people behind them are like the Scribes and Pharisees who claim to have eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear. They claim to be enlightened leaders in both the government and private sectors of society. It is evident that they can no longer see the crises around us. We are therefore victims of their leadership that is dragging us quickly into the pit of fire. Satan is clearly responsible for these developments.

b) Harden not your Hearts

Another warning that is highlighted in this book, tells us not to harden our hearts like the Jews at Tariba. We shall see in this book what God did to those who, like the Jews harden their hearts against God’s presence and covenant with man. Today, an increasing number of leaders across the globe are hardening their hearts against God through the crises of denial of sinful actions condemned by God. Here again, Satan is responsible for blinding their eyes and using them to achieve its goals against God.

c). Father Forgive them for they know not what they are doing

Christ Himself asked His Father to forgive His killers because they knew not what they were doing. In our view, these words affirm our position that it is Satan, not man that is behind all our crises from His crucifixion to the on-going crises across the globe. We should reflect on these words of Christ on the cross. If the Scribes, Pharisees and those Roman soldiers did not know what they were doing, who then knew? Only Satan knew what it was doing by using the people as its agents to achieve its goal. The Church teaches that we are all crucifiers of Christ through our sins brought on us by Satan. Therefore Christ was praying to His Father to forgive all of us when He spoke these words on the cross. Surely, He was not asking God to forgive Satan because Satan knew what it was doing. In the same way as in Golgotha, it had continued to use man to achieve its goal of persecuting Christians across history and the globe to this day. Only through strengthening Christ’s pillars of love, forgiveness, turning the other cheek, etc. can we therefore effectively confront our only enemy, Satan? Our consolation is that we are assured that as it failed at Golgotha, it would certainly fail in its current crises across the globe

3. Satan’s Control of Global Structures of Development

Another area of growing concern is Satan’s control over many of our communication structures in the society. Today many believers in God are concerned over Satan’s control of many of the structures developed by man for advancing his happiness. We shall note in this book how some of the structures of Television, Radio, the Media and internet, all of which were developed to enhance his life’s challenges are now firmly under Satan’s control. With its control of these structures, it is easy for it to manipulate us to its own goals and promote is corruptions.

4. We are in a Spiritual War with Satan

We are concerned that the world is increasingly forgetting that we are in a spiritual war with the enemy, Satan. Some people even deny the presence of Satan in our midst. They dismiss it as being too religious. This is precisely the goal of the enemy, to hide its ugly face with a mask and go around torturing us in our midst. The world needs to be reminded that Man has been at war with Satan since his creation. Man has been fighting to choose between doing good and evil. The book discusses in its General Introduction this on-going War of Choosing to do Good or Bad things in our Lives. It shows in one of its chapters how this war commences inside our hearts, (or what it describes as Ground Zero) from where it emerges to the surface as actions that bring good or bad challenges, crosses and even human wars on us. This is the war which the Catechism of the Catholic Church referred to as the Story of Dire Combats with the Enemy.

5. Satan is increasingly corrupting Christ’s Pillars of Civilization across the Globe.

This is a major concern expressed in this book. We shall show throughout this book that Christ brought the pillars of civilization and the Church established them in most countries. We are however concerned that today Satan is corrupting and eroding these pillars and structures. It is behind all the above crises of denial of Christ’s teaching and the work of His Church. It is the only one that gains from these crises of denials. It is the one corrupting Christ’s good principles that built the foundation for democracy and civilization through His Church.

It’s also the one creating the on-going division in the Islamic world between moderates and radical followers.

6. These pillars are needed now to check global crises

Our concern is that only Christ’s pillars of virtues can tackle can be effective in tackling current global crises. Human weapons of guns and bullets cannot solve the crises. If the pillars are greatly weakened and corrupted, we shall become more vulnerable to Satan’s attacks. For example, Christ’s pillars of love of neighbor including the enemy, Faith in one God, His father, Forgiveness, Reason based on Faith, freedom and equality for everyone, strong unity in family and the Church (God’s Covenants) and many others virtues are being greatly corrupted and eroded by Satan’s agents. These are the only effective weapons for fighting the enemy. Hence we refer to them in this book as our soldiers. They need to be strengthened in order to enhance the effectiveness of our defense from the enemy’s attacks.

7.) Increasing Denial of Christ’s Pillars

One of the crises of Realism noted several times in this book is the growing denials of the existence of the pillars of Christ despite vivid evidence of the teaching of Christ and work of His Church across the globe.

In most countries the Churches and their magnificent Cathedrals adorn the streets. Their schools and systems of Education, health, science, books and libraries bear testimony to the role the Church of Christ had played throughout their history to bring them the civilization that they enjoy today. Yet their leaders continue to deny these roles of the Catholic Church and other Christians. Even Satan now claims to be the architect of the structures of modern civilization and some people believe it. As a result the role of the churches are being weakened and more members are gradually withdrawing from them. The enemy urges secular Leaders to abolish Christian schools, hospitals and other institutions that had built Christ’s pillars over the years. As a result, the public schools are no longer able to handle the increasing number of school children and students. Also corrupt public management had brought down the quality of education. One only need to view the history of Nigeria since the civil war to know the disaster Satan had caused in some of these countries. Satan made the Muslim led victors in the war to abolish Christian schools in the country immediately after the civil war. Since then, Nigeria’s quality and structures of education had fallen rapidly to its present low level.

8. Satan trains its own leaders in public schools

These days, secular leaders are instigated by Satan to fight to remove the name of God and His only Son Jesus from their public schools, constitution and institutions. The result is that Satan moves in to quickly fill the vacuum created by such removal. Even in most advanced countries that obeyed this Satan’s command, now face problems of falling culture and morality in schools. Most families cannot afford the costs of private schools. As a result many youths today are victims of Satan’s world of drugs, corruption, crime and other sins that bring down the society. This is the result of lack of religious and moral education in public schools. Satan is truly training its own leaders in public schools to prepare them for its battles tomorrow.

9. Increasing lack interest by secular Authorities

While the above crises continue to grow, we are concerned that secular leaders are lured by the enemy to show no interest to focus on them in the name of democracy, freedom and separation of State from religion. The European Union is said to have removed the mention of God and Christ in their constitution and documents. The U.S. leadership is fighting to defend the country’s pride in describing itself as One Nation under God. These are the trends we describe as the crises of realism, secularism and relativism. Only Satan is capable of instigating such crises by twisting the heart and minds of even the most enlightened people in these countries. These crises had prompted the call by Pope Benedict XVI for the New Evangelization to rescue these nations from their crises of de-Christianization. Through this book, the Author hopes to contribute to the Pope’s call for all Christians, lay and ordained members of the Church, to come to the deck quickly before God’s anger is flared against the world as in the cases of Noah’s time and Sodom and Gomorrah. The world needs to be reminded that Satan, not man is behind all these global crises. It goes around in a mask, twisting the minds and hearts of its agents to promote its attacks and conflicts across the globe.

10. Secular Leaders Need to open their eyes and focus on spiritual aspects of our crises.

The World leaders need to be reminded that as a result of the above on-going crises, they need to focus on spiritual aspects as well as human aspects in order to ensure effective solutions to the crises. This book highlights extensively these Spiritual aspects that need to be addressed with spiritual weapons in addition to military weapons of guns, bombs and other human made weapons of war. It argues that most of the on-going wars in the world today, like Religious terrorism, originate from Religious causes and issues. It is therefore
