ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND THIS BOOK
1. The Background for my Response
As stated in one of the chapters of the Books dealing with my Confessions, after hearing the Pope’s Call on the Laity to rise up and contribute to the success of the New Evangelization, I wondered if I could respond to his Call as a Member of The Knights of Columbus and the EWTN family, with extensive Professional exposure across the secular governance of the world. I reflected and prayed on this Call for two weeks. Then I decided to respond to the Pope’s Call.
2. Applying My Professional Perspective
Although I have no experience in theology, I believed that I could apply my Secular Professional perspective to contribute to the Pope’s Call. As a Professional Economist, I had been exposed to Secular Governance for over twenty years through my working experience in secular governance in both advanced and developing countries. After graduating in Economics, Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, in U.K., I gained the practical experience in secular governance through my service as a Former Economic Adviser at the U.K. Government, Senior Economist at the World Bank and Senior Consultant to the Nigerian Government and some International Agencies like the African Development Bank and the USAID. I gained my experience in the secular private and corporate sector as a Founding Chairman and Chief Executive of a Nigerian Investment Bank and a pioneer of the First African Commodity Trading Exchange Limited in Nigeria.
3. Submission of a Report
It is customary in our professional practice to submit a Report on an Assignment to the Authorities who gave the Assignment to us. The purpose of such a Report should be to inform the Authorities who gave the assignment about the Strategies used in handling their assignment. The Report would enable them to fully understand the mission, its strategies and analyses and other aspects of the Analyses.
This is therefore the justification for this Booklet which presents our Analyses, Strategies and Recommendations on the task of responding to the Pope’s Call on the Laity. This Report is being presented to the Authorities of the Church especially His Eminence, The Archbishop of Washington whose passionate Appeal to the Laity in the Diocese inspired me to undertake the mission of writing these Books. I am also sharing it through this publication with other members of the Laity across the world for their study and improvement of the Strategies and Recommendations for undertaking this important mission in the history of the Church.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
In his first Encyclical, Pope Francis had repeated the Call of Pope Emeritus to the Laity in the Catholic Church to rise up and contribute to the New Evangelization Mission of The Church. The Church had welcomed his call as re-emphasizing the role of the Laity in the New Evangelization. Through these Ten Books, I am responding to the Pope’s Call as conveyed to us by our Archbishop of Washington, His Eminence, Cardinal Donald Wuerl.
The world had joined the Church in welcoming the Call by Pope Francis especially his emphasis on the need to address the challenges in Global Secular Political and Corporate Governance. All across the world, we see both public and private business officials disregarding or marginalizing sinful actions and advancing policies that promote cheating, fraud, jealousy, fake products and high prices for consumers. These actions are worsening the level of poverty across the world especially in the poor countries.
We had reviewed all these sinful actions extensively in these Books. We attributed them to Satan’s temptations that make us misuse God’s Good Gift of Freewill to commit sins. As a result of these temptations, WE ARE AT WAR with Satan. The war had been going on since the time of Adam and Eve.
We described as Satan’s weapons in the front line the on-going vices of unfair Political and Corporate ambitions, greed, fraud, cheating, political oppressions, persecution, discrimination and Religious terrorist and other criminal actions. These are the weapons the enemy and its human agents use in their war against God’s people.
We concluded by reminding the secular world of today to turn away from this spiritual enemy and learn to love their neighbors as they love themselves as God commanded. We must return to Christ’s teaching pillars of Faith, Love, Good service and help to neighbors, obedience honesty and humility in governance. These Pillars had been promoted by the Church and sustained global civilization and Good Governance for two thousand years since the teaching of Christ. By returning to these Pillars, we can restore Faith and Peace in our world.
All through the second week of December 2013, the world celebrated the historic life of Nelson Mandela of South Africa. However, the world needs to be reminded of the roots of that celebration. His political life was a model for politicians to follow the teaching Pillars of Christ in their political careers… Mandela showed true respect for the following Pillars of Christ’s teaching—
— Equality of all people (black and white) who are created in God’s image,
— Humility in service to those we rule rather than selfish ambition to rule for his life time,
— Love and Forgiveness to all, hence he forgave those who persecuted
