About this ebook

Scientists have come to a pessimistic conclusion: By 2020, depression will become the most serious health problem in the world - towering over cancer or AIDS. Fifty percent of the human population will be affected by it. That is why today's priority for researchers and physicians is the quest for effective methods of counteracting depression.

According to the author of this book, depression (similar to any other disease) is rapidly spreading due to the increased levels of fear in the mind of modern man and through lack of education in the areas of mental health. People should be taught methods of fighting the advances of this disease. The knowledge of human ecology is essential in acquiring these methods.

This book is about the EMOTIONAL NATURE OF MAN (homo emoticus). It was written for those who want to be rulers of their own raging emotions and make them subordinate to the mind. Inside all of us exists memory of stresses and fears, the so-called Book of Life, where our records of causes, underlying failures, conflicts, troubles and illnesses are maintained. The ability to operate this intuitive information is the key to the solution of mental and physical problems of humans.

The present edition was prepared by key practicing psychologists from the Human Ecology Educational Center based on individual sessions, practical advice and consultations, as well as seminars, master-classes and lectures offered by Mihail Lezhepekov in his Schools. There, he introduces people to reading information about the causes of illness and altering the logic of errors and mistakes.

The mysterious and little studied spiritual and emotional world which governs our subconscious and intuition will be generous in offering us those secrets which, until recently, were believed to be the privilege of only a very few. The author believes that this knowledge should become an integral part of everyone’s lifestyle if we want to achieve health and happiness.

    Good luck!

    Reference

It is hard to miss the focus of the book’s author, Mihail Lezhepekov, on the underlying cause of many of life’s problems. Indeed, it is frequently our insurmountable dependence on our negative emotions, which ultimately has a negative impact on our health.

I found it very exciting that I could learn a way to relieve myself of emotions and diseases by applying the practical methods for mental realization of fearful emotions presented in this book.

Moreover, I am convinced that the studies of the emotional nature of human diseases will be of interest to the American reader.

    CHAPTER ONE

    THE BEGINNING

Would you like to experience true exuberance towards life? Then, please read this book with care and attention, from its first page to the last. I am certain that when you have finished, you will regard yourself differently. You will forgive yourself for many things and you will no longer indulge in that wasteful exercise, which we all have known too well—judging ourselves for the way we are.

What are we like? We are too fragile for this cruel material world. Reality is too harsh for us to see the way it truly is. Illusions, fantasies, and dreams are much more endearing to us. They promise us an escape.

What is it we seek? Above all we seek joy—a non-stop, overwhelming kind of joy, and the sky is the limit. We want to stun our minds with anything that would allow us to forget our weaknesses, jealousy, greed, imperfections, and, in this oblivion, to touch mysteries open to God alone.

And here lies the cause for the limited popularity of a HEALTHY lifestyle. While all we humans want is to relax, this only adds more

responsibilities to our life; by responsibilities I do not mean diets, physical exercise, workouts in fitness clubs and gyms, or the attempt to quit smoking and drinking.

I refer to the fact that to the majority of the population the word HEALTHY became synonymous with words like MUNDANE, BORING, and TIRESOME. The word HEALTH makes a person scowl as if having bitten into a sour lemon. Such a reaction to the word health is based upon negative thoughts: What if suddenly we were to lose the pleasures of life? As a rule, everything that we most crave is usually something that is enjoyable, tasty, readily available, and, above all, pleasurable for us.

I am not trying to appeal to readers to join the ranks of teetotalers. Rather, as people generally tend not to overburden themselves and consider this to be the healthiest of lifestyles, it is time to stretch out on the couch and begin an intriguing trip into the realm known as human being.

I predict that all of your possible skepticism for the discoveries related in this book will not be much to your liking, mostly as a result of the widespread misconception that we know ourselves only too well. Trust me, this is far from being true. When Socrates reportedly said, All I know is that I know nothing, he spoke of knowing himself.

Along the pages of this book, a Skeptic will oppose me, the Author. The Skeptic is someone who doubts everything from the beginning, without really believing in anything. The Russian director Stanislavsky comes to mind when I think of this doubting Thomas: He was known to criticize his actors by saying, I don’t believe you!

    THIS DARN HEALTH

Skeptic: I gather we will keep talking about this dull subject health?

Author: The subject of health may seem dull and boring to you because any interest in life comes from two sources—gain and emotions. As though under some spell, human beings keep striving towards either material gain or an opportunity to bask themselves

in emotions ranging from the least pleasant (fear) to the most amazing (infatuation). When we hear someone speak of health, we subconsciously decide immediately that we will be restricted, or, in other words, will be forced to be more attentive and careful with ourselves.

Why do passions rage and rule within us? They overpower us because we use them to embellish our strenuous lives. Yet, the major intrigue lies in our chemical dependence on emotions.

Skeptic: I didn’t know that all of us were born addicts! Are we, really?

Author: Yes. However, it is good that all of us are not born murderers, although geneticists have already identified a gene responsible for being inclined to such crimes. In August 2004, an international research team issued a report on the discovery of a single gene of aggressiveness, which explains why boys demonstrating bad behavior turn into rapists and other criminals. This gene, or rather its weaker version, was present in 85% of young people who demonstrated aggressiveness in childhood, and who, having grown up, turned to crime. By the way, the science of genetics makes our true human nature very visible and very explicable. Geneticists have also identified the gene of depression, the gene of socializing, and so on. I know for certain that any bad gene is dormant for as

long as the addictive habit of accumulating emotions of fear has not kicked in.

Meanwhile, people remain completely oblivious toward their emotional nature because they stay true to their habit of splashing their devalued emotions around. And, as a rule, it is health which is placed on the sacrificial altar of such a lifestyle, when a person experiences the maximum of emotions: some choose extreme sports in order to get high on adrenaline, some drink and party, ignoring the severe hangovers which follow. For example, a night-centered lifestyle is viewed as bohemian; a regular human organism driven by envy towards the elite may respond as follows: it may train itself to stay awake until four o’clock in the morning, under any pretense, subconsciously affiliating itself with high society, reasoning that only those who belong to the elite can afford not to begin their work day early in the morning.

Skeptic: I, too, go to bed at 3 in the morning, yet I don’t believe that this is all a result of secret intrigues by my subconscious. Or is it?

Author: That is why humans typically call poor sleep insomnia, i.e. categorizing it as a medical condition, without truly understanding the real motives behind it. The afore-mentioned is an example only one of secret desires which result in insomnia. There is, of course, no common sense in such behavior; nonetheless, I would like to demonstrate through this book why so many people lack common sense. In the example above, health is sacrificed for the sake of an illusive bohemian lifestyle.

Let us consider the way people treat food, one of the main sources of sustaining our lives. In America and Europe, obesity is a national drama. The production of gene-modified food products, intended to solve the problem of hunger, became its main cause. Who in America, or Europe, is threatened today by hunger? Recent news reflected another aspect of the consumption of such products: having died, humans, or rather their bodies, do not decompose for several years, thus disrupting the organic cycles of nature. Such methods of food production are, of course, profitable and convenient for farmers: the food does not spoil, can be easily transported over long distances, and is easier to grow. But let us be honest: this method is practiced not out of concern for people’s health, but because it is GAINFUL.

The statement When you have your health you have everything remains but a nice phrase. Today, the statistics of the morbidity rate defies it. The trend toward a continuous increase in numbers of sick people is, in fact, evidence of the sad fact that we usually think about our health following a wake-up call.

Skeptic: How can we think of our health when we must work to earn our living? First, I get rich, then I’ll start getting massages and going to the gym!

Author: Unfortunately, we have been raised in this materialistic world. A simple test: if you wear expensive gloves, and have to pick up something messy, you will take these gloves off, because you don’t want to ruin them. Do you think of your hands? When we say, I only wish I had good health, everything else will follow, we are simply trying to convince ourselves of this fact, while in actuality we think, I wish I had money, then I could buy my health, too. That is the truth of it.

Now back to the statement, I’ll get rich, and then I’ll take care of myself. Our health has nothing to do with any amount of money. We can start taking care of ourselves right away, regardless of the amount of money we have. The care of our physical health is directly related to our spiritual health. When my soul is unwell, I do not want to be thinking of my physical well-being. Let us first begin with our

emotional health. I will teach you how to get rid of the emotions that lead to sickness. When you realize the importance of this, it won’t be hard for you to allocate half an hour of your day to get rid of excessive emotional weight, which you have accumulated over the course of your life; so much, in fact, that it has become hard for you to breathe. Shortness of breath may not be the problem of our physical bodies alone.

OUR SOUL SUFFERS OF "SHORTNESS OF

BREATH" AS A RESULT OF FEELINGS OF HURT,

JEALOUSY, ENVY, FEAR, ANGER, AND HATRED

The first thought upon awakening should be how do I feel today? Do I hurt anywhere? Am I anxious or scared? rather than how much money have I got in my pocket? And this would only become possible when money stops being a dominating value.

Of course, I do not kid myself hoping that health would take priority over money. In today’s world this seems impossible. To achieve such priorities the entire system of values would need to be changed, followed by changes in upbringing (which will be reflected in a separate book based on results of the practical application of this theory). Under such conditions, the care for health will become a natural concern for a human being; similarly life without money is unimaginable today, while in the future one will not be able to live in sickness.

SIMILAR TO TODAY’S SHAME OF POVERTY,

IT WILL BE SHAMEFULL TO BE SICK

Skeptic: Do you want to bring our established world system to collapse?

Author: How can it be established if it is based on chaos? How can mankind, under the impact of emotions, create anything permanent and harmonious, while HEALTH, the major foundation of our life, is not at the basis of it? The entire power of our mind is ruled by emotions without commonsense because in their essence emotions are subconscious. This is why it is so important to begin to work on correcting one’s own spiritual and emotional ego. First of all, it should be healed. Only then shall we be able to arrange our world such that there will be no hungry or poor, or it won’t be run by a few multi-billionaires who could change the direction of our lives at a whim, in an unprecedented manner. Today we all are hostages of somebody’s interests. Today, those who have money define these interests.

THE WORLD IS MOVING TOWARD CHAOS

Based upon the UN demographic standards, the population is considered old if a share of people older than 65 exceeds 7%. Today, such share in the US makes up 12%, and, according to the International Longevity Center, USA, by 2030 it will reach 21% with the number of adults over 65 doubling, to exceed 70 million. In comparison, this share for Russia is 13%. Spain and Sweden are ahead of Russia (their share is 17%). Remarkably, the life expectancy for men is usually lower than for women. For example, in the US this figure is 74 for men and 79 for women. The difference is quite significant.

There are several reasons behind this. First of all, as was established in Great Britain, the male hormone testosterone blocks the immune system in men. At the same time, as men grow older,

the efficiency of the male immune system decreases at a much faster rate than a woman’s. According to the statistics, due to deficiencies of this defense mechanism, men die as a result of infections twice as often as women. Experiments and observations of neutered and non-neutered male animals prove that on average the former live about 15 years longer than the latter.

Secondly, a man’s life is subject to more risks when interacting with the outside world. The man is a conqueror and therefore stress is a standard operational medium for him. Also, this is one of reasons why he cannot properly assess the degree of risk. Furthermore, men do not want to admit their fears even to themselves, as this is considered a sign of weakness. However, the suppression of fear results in an increase of the adrenaline levels in the blood, which is why men more frequently die from a heart attack than women do (the heart is the first victim to the fight hormone).

Let’s look at heart attacks. Psychologists conducted a number of surveys of patients with a history of a myocardial infarction. They were shocked by the results. Female patients were asking questions on how to live now, how to modify diet, how to avoid a relapse of the illness, whereas, male patients were interested in one question only: how their history of heart attack would affect their sexual life. This inclination of the male mind could be explained by the impact of testosterone. However, my research has established a more deeply rooted cause for this male concern. Hazards resulting from senseless and ungrounded sexual emotion have a more far-reaching range of damage than the hormone on its own.

Skeptic: No, a real man cannot be scared of early death! We have loved, do love and will continue to love women, if that’s the way nature made us.

    Author: Listen to this joke:

A doctor explains to an elderly patient:

You’re losing your hearing. To slow down the process you have to stop drinking, smoking and sleeping with women!

The older man thought and asked, Is this all needed only to make my hearing a bit better?

Also, I think that skirt-chasers cannot be stopped by scientific facts, neither is this the purpose of my book. But practical experience proves that the stronger half of mankind (aside from its genetic peculiarity mentioned earlier) generally has a very weak inclination towards a healthy lifestyle. This is why men demonstrate such a deeply rooted internal resistance to anything that might limit their hazardous habits.

There is another factor which equally affects longevity in both men and women. Following is the universal law of Nature, which is observed by the entire Universe:

    • There is an increasing degree of CHAOS at all structural levels of the body. This results in a general decrease in the body’s immune resistance. Longevity specialists believe that the general and fundamental cause for increased chaos in the world is defined by the second law of thermodynamics, which points at the inevitability of growth of entropy (measure of chaos and disorderliness of the system) as a result of voluntary processes in all closed systems, including the Universe.

Skeptic: In other words, do physicists want to tell us that our world is inevitably moving towards total disorder and chaos? Is all of this happening regardless of the aspirations of humans?

Author: Yes, generally speaking. Studies of the human soul have shown me the connection between laws of the material and the spiritual worlds. Since 1989 I have observed tirelessly that, indeed, emotions are the main source of poor health. As this process continues to remain subconscious, the ability of emotion to involuntarily accumulate in the psychic tissue leads to an uncontrolled increase in emotional energy; its power is such that it inevitably brings about an explosion, in this case, an illness, because a human being is a closed system. The mechanism of this is similar to that of an earthquake: the accumulation of thermal energy within the Earth’s closed system leads to explosion and destruction. The entire world operates in similar analogies. That is why, by studying ourselves, we may find solutions to problems related to our environment.

Skeptic: If scientists fail to predict such disasters as a tsunami in South East Asia, then why should we, mere mortals, ask such a question of ourselves? Nature will not become more compassionate towards us!

Author: I cannot agree with this point of view. In a tsunami an entire native tribe survived by having prepared rafts in advance, based upon deciphered messages from Nature. The entire island where they had lived was gone, but the people survived. Now, let us look at the actions of the civilized people. When they saw that the sea retracted for 500 m off the shore and opened up the bottom of the sea, everyone—children and adults, rushed to gather wondrous seashells. Those who were videotaping this miracle of Nature, being above sea level, they did
