A little about me. Born in 1965,I grew up in Garrett County Maryland, on a farm, outside of the small town of Friendsville. I was Raised by my Grandparents who had 14 kids of their own and was the youngest in the house. Having 7 uncles in the house, all sports fans ,i became addicted to football very early in life. My first recollection of watching football was in the early 70's so how could i be anything but...a Steeler fan!

    A little look back

    The history of the Pittsburgh Steelers dates clear back to 1933 when they were known as the Pittsburgh Pirates. They used this name until 1940 when owner, Art Roonie, changed the name to the Steelers to represent the Steel town heritage of Pittsburgh. During the 1943 season, The name of the team was Changed again. Our Nation was at war. The Steelers could not come up with enough players to field a team. Neither could the Philadelphia Eagles so the two teams combined and were known as the Steagles. Again in 1944 the Steelers combined with another team. The Chicago Cardinals and were referred to unofficially as Car-Pitts or The Carpets

    Now let me tell ya a little something about the Steelers back in those days. They sucked. I mean seriously. They had very few winning seasons and rarely made a post season appearance. They went through head coaches like I go through sox. They just couldn’t seam to bring anything together until that fatefull day. The day a legend walked into Pittsburgh. January 27,1969. On this day, Chuck Noll was named head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    Some major changes took place following the hiring of Chuck Noll. Along with the 1970 season came the AFL-NFL merger, The Steelers moved from the NFL Century division to the AFC Central, and they moved from Forbes Field to the brand new, Three Rivers Stadium. After selecting Mean Joe Greene as his first ever draft pick in 1969, he chose another man in 1970 who would soon become legendary in his own right. That man was Terry Bradshaw and to this
