From the notebook of a sportswriter who can’t seem — no matter how hard he tries — to keep time from slipping away:

• Extending Kevin Colbert another year helped. He’s such a gentleman from another time, yet timeless.

• I’ve been plowing through my archives of the aughts, and have come upon so many precious nuggets from those championship seasons. Here’s one I found from my morning camp blog dated August 1, 2008:
