    My Most Cherished Gifts

    To Deneen Cooper.

There are no words that can fully express how grateful I am

For your continual love and support.

This is just another stepping-stone for me, so that I can take care of you.

I love you and thank God for you.

    To Norma Mum Pinkston.

You told me long before I could fully understand, that I would be something.

I hope I’ve made you proud!

    I love you.

    To Denna J.

I could probably fill this whole book with reasons I’m so glad I have a friend like you.

You have been such a strong support system in my life.

I appreciate the bond we have built.

Without it, I’m not sure where I would be!

    I love you.

    Lord,

CREATE in me a spirit of humility/gratitude. PURPOSE in me a spirit of courage. RENEW in me a spirit of undying passion for this GIFT you have given me. May it ALL manifest into something BEAUTIFUL.

    Acknowledgements

    Wow.

Who would have thought I would have more to say after the 1st book? I am very grateful for the ability to see the world more clearly and how I fit into the mold of it all. This has indeed been a journey; one of many triumphs and even a few struggles and failures. Through it all I am here to tell the tale and I hope that all who come in contact with this collection of poems will gain something immeasurable from it.

I want to thank every piece of inspiration that aided in the creation of this book. I thank God for allowing me this gift of poetry. Often times people wonder how I come up with the words to convey my innermost thoughts and feelings but I can take NO credit. God gave this to me so I give it to you. I am merely his vessel and all of this is bigger than me.

Thank you to all who have continued to believe in me and have truly supported my passion for poetry. This includes my family, friends, and fellow artists. I love each one of you more than you know.

Special thanks to Tia Hall & Shakia Canada.

Tia, I appreciate all of your hard work. You have continually pushed me creatively and inspired me more than you realize. You are my favorite photographer. I am humbled to have you a part of this process once again. I love you for that! Oh and tell your grandmother THANK YOU as well. She saved the day!

Shakia, I admire your strength and determination in reaching your goals. Watching you strive to achieve your dreams motivates me to do the same. Thank you for your contribution to this project. You are a great sister! I love you.

Also, thank YOU whomever you may be. I appreciate your interest in what I have to say. It will NEVER go unnoticed. Enjoy!

Please bear with me. This was all self edited. Thanks in advance!

    Peace, Love, & God Bless,

    Tisean

    What Is Acid Sugar Cane?

    It’s simple really.

Cane Sugar is pure. It is sweet. It is organic and hand harvested from the Earth.

This is how I view this collection of poems. The art is raw & clarified. I am exposing myself for all to see. The Acid is merely my way of saying life stings a bit… but that’s what builds perseverance. So in essence it flows naturally. Acid Sugar Cane is the story of my life. Acid Sugar Cane is ME.

    Chapter 1:

    Life (As I Know It)

My Love, My Passion, My Obsession

I treat you like a lover that I don’t want ANYONE disrespecting.

I can’t see how anyone could NOT love you, NOT adore you,

and NOT find solace in you.

But I suppose that is just how much you mean to me.

I see the God in your face as you inspire me to express my truest self.

The scent of your progress astounds me.

    I grow when you do.

    In fact
