Portals of Peace: A Path to Inner Peace and a Healed World
()
About this ebook
This step-by-step guide to inner and outer peace introduces the concept of essentialization, which is the process of embodying ones essence while becoming a bright light in the world. The five stages of essentialization help us shed the layers covering our essence, leading to a completely unique and powerful presence.
Portals of Peace demonstrates that the pursuit of inner peace is no longer a lofty ideal, but a way to bring about real change in the world. As we open from the inside and allow our light to fully shine, a new era of peace will blanket the world.

Introduction
Several years ago, while I was occupied with other projects, I received a vision. It was an image of Earth from space. Portals of light were opening up on its surface, one after another, sending shafts of light streaming out into the cosmos. As patches of our globe lit up, the process accelerated. This became the vision for Portals of Peace. As we open up from the inside and allow our light to fully shine, a new era of peace blankets the world. The time for this vision is now, as the group of individuals willing to enlist in the army of light grows bigger every day.
The original seeds for this book, and my life’s work in general, were planted at the age of twenty-seven when I had a spiritual awakening that changed my life. I had just moved from Phoenix where I grew up, to downtown Chicago where everything was fresh and unfamiliar. I was open to whatever life had to offer, and it turns out life had a great deal to offer. Shortly after arriving in the big city perched on the edge of a huge expanse of sparkling water, I stumbled upon A Course in Miracles through a newspaper review of Marianne Williamson’s book, A Return to Love (a wonderful introduction to The Course). I immediately recognized this new way of looking at the world as truth and proceeded to cry for three days. The tears of relief were only the beginning of my personal transformation, but something had fundamentally shifted in my core, and I was awake for the first time in my life. The experience was profound and deep – on a cellular level. Prior to the awakening, I was living in the dark, trying to find my way without any direction. I was tormented with inner struggles that left me completely void of inner peace. This eye-opening
time restored my sanity and changed the course of my life.
I’m not alone in this experience. Right now, many of us are waking up to the true nature of life. Some of us awaken spontaneously upon recognizing the truth or after going through a life-changing event, while others open to truth gradually, like a blossoming flower.
My life’s work has centered upon teaching the timeless principles that lead to inner peace. Not until several years ago however, did I realize that inner peace has a profound and literal connection to world peace. While I’m aware of the wide-spread rhetoric surrounding the idea that inner peace leads to world peace, I’m not aware of many step-by-step guides on how to get there. Portals of Peace, while not the only path, reveals a direct and concrete approach to inner peace and ultimately world peace. Inner peace does not equal happiness. I believe most of us consider ourselves to be happy. Inner peace results from a complete integration of self, which involves partially undoing of the effects of socialization. In other words, becoming more of who we are and less of who we think we should
be in order to fit in.
This book is geared toward the committed aspirant, seeker, self-help enthusiast, and activist – as only those who are entirely dedicated to doing their part in making this world a better place will be inspired to follow the path outlined in the pages that follow.
It is my belief that the world is ready to take a quantum leap toward becoming a more love-based community, and that those of us willing to feel the burn
of transformation will usher in this unprecedented era.
I am grateful for each reader who walks this sometimes difficult, but ultimately inspiring journey, as each step taken widens the path to peace.
Chapter I
Peace
I’ve never talked to a person who wasn’t for world peace. Sometimes the cry for peace gets louder and sometimes it fades to a hum for a while. But even when the issue isn’t on the forefront, peace is a deeply held value shared by all of humanity. The activists of the ’60s not only cried out for peace, they marched, they spoke, and they got arrested. They did everything in their power to transform a world that they knew was out of balance, and yet here we are again, with a new wave of people crying out, marching and shouting for peace. We sense the futility of conflict and war, and those of us who are awake will always stand up and try to make things right.
Why then, when passionate, intelligent people do everything in their power to cultivate peace, doesn’t it work? Why is it that the landscape of violence changes, but the violence itself never goes away?
Right now there is a diverse group of people on the planet dedicated to ushering in a more peaceful era. If you have picked up this book, you are among them. They range in age – many are the same visionary baby boomer men and women who called for peace in the sixties. Others, in their 20s, 30s and 40s are going to music festivals and voting for change. The tenor of the group is unmistakable – each of these peace seeking individuals is passionate, full of life and committed to doing whatever is necessary to birth a more peaceful world.
What you are about to read is a radical approach to world peace. It is radical because it calls for you to impeccably represent on the inside that which you are seeking on the outside. A portal of peace is one who uses his or her warrior spirit to unite rather than divide. Here’s the catch – it is your presence that unites, not your beliefs, words or actions.
There is a reason that conflict prevails, despite the fact that almost all people desire peace in their homes, schools and in the world. The reason is that conflict in the world is a direct reflection of conflict within oneself that is projected outward. It is important to note that projection of conflict operates on two
