    Introduction

     *Meia Prayers Answered*

Mom, will you please come here for a minute? I want you to give me your opinion on the outfit I’m wearing said Meia calling out to her Mother from her bedroom. Okay sweetie, I’ll be right there said Helen as she rushed to prepare for her evening out with her husband to celebrate their anniversary. Don, Meia’s all excited Kev is coming to take her out to dinner and then to a movie, while we’re out said Helen dancing around the room. Don! Do you hear me? Yes baby I hear you, I was engrossed in, trying to figure out which tie looks the best said Don holding several ties trying to find the right color."

Uncle Kevin is here! Said Meia as she answered the door, we’re gone. Not quite so fast young lady said Kev we have time, I want to see Don and Helen. What’s up Kev I need help, which tie looks the best asked Don holding them against his suit? I’m good Don that suit is sharp and the burgundy and blue tie blends with your shirt and shoes said Kev. Thanks Kev that was my first choice said Don smiling as he turned to see Helen as she entered the room. Helen as always you’re beautiful, the two of you will turn heads tonight, close your mouth said Kevin teasing Don who stood speechless. I will have my eyes on her all night teased Don yet he was quite serious. Helen was breathtaking in her lovely white satin dress. Smiling as she modeled her beautiful dress that Don had picked out for her to wear, Helen tipped toed too straighten Don’s tie. Meia stood admiringly by watching the love between her parents. Mom you will be the prettiest woman at the dinner club tonight and Daddy you the most handsome said Meia kissing them goodnight. If it is okay with the two of you Meia can spend the night with me said Kev. Please asked Meia for she hoped her uncle would suggest just that. Of course she can said Don go pack a bag. I already have Dad said Meia laughing for that was already her plan."

Okay I have my bag let’s go said Meia grabbing Kevin’s hand, You two have a ball, said Kev. Thanks Kev, said Helen hold on we’ll all go out together we are ready. It’s a beautiful night said Don as they all reached their cars. Be safe see you two, later said Meia waving goodbye as she opened the car door. Meia stopped, looking at her parents as an awkward feeling came over her. Helen looked at Meia waving goodbye once again. Come on baby she is only going over to Kev’s said Don smiling at Helen as he too turned back looking out the window as Kevin pulled out into the street."

Helen are you feeling okay, you have been so quiet asked Don. I’m sorry sweetie I was just thinking of Meia, I am fine, I love you my handsome husband said Helen touching his leg. Don! Watch out that car is screamed Helen as the car ran the light. Helen! Helen screamed Don as he fought to stay conscious, somebody please help my wife. Meia, Meia was the last words Helen softly whispered.

     *Meia’s Prayers Answered*

A misty glow from the beautiful sundown, gives a magical shadow over the evening. I wonder if my Mom and Dad see the beauty of the night, setting into place. I wonder if they see my tears, feel my fears. My heavenly father, please take care of them and father please give me the strength to smile through my broken heart. I do not know why they had to leave me, I do not understand, I do believe they are with you and I trust you, for you gave me life. I pray for acceptance, of my new life with my family, knowing my parents are with you makes my pain easier to bear, I love you, your child Meia.

Meia closed her eyes as she shared a moment with God. After her prayers, she turned to look at her Uncle Kevin who was deep in thought. They were about an hour away from Atlanta; Kevin fought back tears his heart filled with mixed emotions. How will I ever walk away thought Kev as he struggled to keep his hurt from showing in his eyes, for Meia is my heart.

I am taking her to live with her Aunt and Uncle respecting the will of her parents. I know it is for the best; they have children and adore Meia as she does them. Trying his best to convince himself that it is what Helen and Don asked which ultimately, is the best for Meia.

With her eyes still closed Meia was deep in thought, I adore my Auntie Di and my Uncle Tony, she smiled as she thought of spending time with Fee and the boys, yet her heart ached at the thought of not seeing her Uncle Kev for weeks or months at a time. Smiling Meia thought of the good times at home in Raleigh, North Carolina with her parents. Uncle Kev only lived two blocks away, he was always over for dinner and taking her to movies, shopping and events in the park. The two of us always shared a special bond, we sit for hours discussing school, my career goals, and sharing poems for we both have a gift for writing. I do not know how I will say goodbye to my Uncle when it is time for him to go back home. With tears in her eyes Meia began to pray silently to God, help me Lord to be strong, the thought of being without my Uncle Kev is too much to bear. I have lost my parents please I cannot lose him too.

Meia thought of her conversation with Felicia the evening before they left, together they prayed for a divine intervention. I am asking and believing in you for a miracle. I ask this in your son Jesus name, thank you, Amen.

Kevin was in prayer asking God for strength to leave Meia when the time comes. The road back to Carolina will be the longest I have ever traveled. I want the best life has to offer for her. When my sister and brother-in law died, it was devastating to her life, yet she’s been strong., so here I am taking her to a new beginning, a new place, new friends in a fast pace City like Atlanta. I know that Di and Tony love her and will take good care of her, that gives me some comfort but my heart hurts so deeply. If only things were different for me, Helen, made me promise that if anything ever happened to her and Don that if I wasn’t married, I was to take Meia to live with Di and Tony. I am thirty-four years old a successful businessperson yet I have not found that special person in my life. I love Meia more than life but she does need a lady a special lady in her life and I know that Dianna will feel that void thought Kevin his heart hurting so deeply wondering how he’ll survive leaving Meia.

Meia are you asleep? Asked Kevin, no just resting my eyes, answered Meia. Would you like to stop for a burger and stretch our legs? "That sounds great we have been riding for a few hours a bite and bathroom break is well needed laughed Meia! We will be arriving in an hour or so, this will be a good time for me to have a talk with Meia, while we are alone.

Meia and Kevin enjoyed a bite to eat and talked about different things they passed on their trip, both avoiding any serious discussion, for the diner was full of people and Kevin decided to wait until they were back in the car. I have been fighting tears back all day and I think its best to wait, for both of our sakes, thought Kevin.

Before we get back on the road Meia, there’s something I want to say said Kevin Yes Uncle Kev said Meia turning to face him. I want you to know young lady that I know this is hard for you, believe me it is for me too, you have been through so much in the last few months, now you have to adjust to a new life with your Aunt and family. I want you to know that I love you; I don’t want you to pretend with any of us, that everything is okay, feel what you feel and please share with whom, you feel most comfortable with, what you’re feeling. Do not hide your emotions, realize that we know you hurt and we hurt too. Please give yourself time to adjust, never feel you are bothering anyone or that we are to busy to listen. Promise me that you’ll never doubt how much I love you.

I promise Uncle Kev, I’ve never been good at hiding my feelings and I know how much all of my family loves me, especially you said Meia smiling through her tears. Meia wanted to say more but
