Chapter 1: Choosing the Perfect Name for Your Baby
If you are already feeling some anxiety when it comes to choosing the perfect name for your child, don’t worry this is perfectly natural. After all, you need to pick something that is going to be with your child for their entire life which is, to put it mildly, a lot of pressure. Furthermore, you will likely hear input, wanted or not, from virtually everyone who finds out you are having a baby which means all the noise can start to build up and make it easy for everything to feel overwhelming. Keep the following in mind to ensure you pick the best name possible.
Consider the sound of the name: While it can be easy to like a name on paper, it is equally important to ensure that you say the name allowed plenty of times before you make your decision; after all, you are going to be hearing it quite often which means that choosing the right sounds is key. It is important to choose a name that sounds pleasant to the ear, as those that are harsh often have negative connotations attached. Likewise, make sure to say it in conjunction with your last name which is how your child will be using it much of the time. Catching something early that sounds odd, rhymey, or like a pun can certainly save your child grief later in life and is certainly worth considering as well. While you might like the sound of a rhyming or pun name now, rest assured that the joke will wear off long before other people get tired of it.
Additionally, you will want to consider your feelings on if you like a longer first name when compared to the last name, vice versa, or two names of equal length. Furthermore, some people believe that having the first name end with a vowel while the last name also starts with a vowel
