Singing calms your baby

A University of Montreal study has found that infants remain calm twice as long when listening to a song than when listening to speech. The Canadian study, published in the journal Infancy, looked at 30 healthy infants between six and nine months old, finding they were soothed and distracted by music, suggesting that even small babies have the mental capacity to be drawn in.
