About this ebook
In my life experience of 40 years, I haven’t seen or found any material in specific to do Better Sons and Daughters, there isn’t either any school that teaches us how to make better decisions and how to be obedient to our parents, there isn’t a guide of how to make that adolescence will not make us act in a way that is not correct, since what actually happens is that we don’t know how to handle with our emotions in this particular season of our lives. But our adventure of #HowToBeBetterSonsAndDaughters is not only limited to our adolescence, it goes beyond that, it will accompany us the rest of our lives, even when we are not living with our parents anymore, we will still be children and because of that, we must remain being good children. When we get to accomplish the exciting season of becoming parents, we have the responsibility of guiding new generations, but it won’t be enough only telling them how to behave, our example will be more relevant and it is in this moment were we will reap what we seeded as children when we were home with our parents.
#HowToBeBetterSonsAndDaugthers is a compilation of life experiences as a son and father, lessons learned through advices, readings, messages that impacted my life through movies, people that invested their time and life in mine, Bible teachings, happy moments, sad moments that helped me grow and a relationship with God. Today, I’m taking the risk of sharing with you dear readers, to encourage you to keep moving forward, and not giving up because the change starts only if I want to change, only if you want to change. You’re still on time to change your way to be and your way to think, and in that way we will be able to see how to be Better sons and daughters and we will also be parents of better children.

Dedicated to my Family
Ale, Juanpa, and Lucy - because 23 years ago I decided in my heart that I would pray to God for my wife and children. Because of my love for you, it was there and then in that old chair in the back yard of my old house that this adventure of #HowToBeBetterSonsandDaughters started."
I love you and you are the best that has happened to me in life!
Recommendations
How to be better sons and daughters is not only a book to understand how to be better sons and daughters for our parents, but how to be better sons and daughters for our God, too. I’m thankful to Makko for writing this guide for our sons and daughters and through his advice and stories help them grow the way God showed us at some point in our lives and continues to do now that we are parents.

"Makko Gonzalez is one of the people that mentored me in the earlier stages of my ministry. Through him, I learned several lessons that I continue to use nowadays at work.
This book reminds of the phrase we should tell people what they need to hear and not just what they want to hear.
Adolescents do not wish to read these truths, but believe me, they need to read them. They don’t want to read them because it represents commitment for them, because it confronts them and pushes them to acknowledge their mistakes.
We need a lot of writers to write about what we need to know instead of what we want to know! I recommend parents to ask your sons and daughters to read and listen to Makko…"

"When I was 12 years old, I met Makko Gonzalez at America Latina School. I was in middle school and he was the Lead for the Christian Education department. His sermons in the school service always had something different, his examples and his way of teaching the Bible were understandable and there was always a practical piece of advice.
Little by little that year, Makko became a counselor for me and he turned into a great friend. Now that I have read his book, I go back to living and feeling what I used to live when I heard his advice, it’s that spark that makes me want to be closer to God and change so everything to be around me will be better.
This book has several key tips to help someone become a better son or daughter, not just to your parents but also to God. Sons and daughters as well as parents should not miss the opportunity to read and learn #HowToBeBetterSonsandDaughters".

I’m about to finish reading the book How to be Better Sons and Daughters
and the next thing I want to do is give it to my teenage son and daughter and my college daughter. How to be Better Sons and Daughters
contains pearls of wisdom colloquially expressed and offered by a dad who was a son first and who learned to honor his parents. His experience of life and work with the youth has made him an expert to influence the minds of children and teenagers with this type of direct confrontation.
Jorge Rivas Maldonado
Friend, counselor, Pastor, missionary, but above all passionate educator and father of 3 beautiful children now teenagers who have not only taught him how to be a better father but also helped him to learn to teach them how to be better sons and daughters.
When I heard the idea of a book for sons and daughters, I thought it was a good yet odd idea, since this type of books is rarely written. I have known Makko for a long time and I know his passion for service and for influencing the new generations with simple, direct, illustrated language (just like Makko himself expresses his ideas).
How to be Better Sons and Daughters" is great material for those boys and girls, who might not be looking for guidance, yet need focus to live their daily lives instead with the purpose of improving their current and future life.
I have had the privilege of working with teenagers and the youth for several years, and I’m now sure of the need they have to find role models they can follow. From the perspective of a good example, Makko exposes offers solutions to difficult circumstances for adolescents, but with a good piece of advice that can change and transform Their lives, Their families, Their society, and Their generation. This book is a great tool to be taken into consideration".

Prologue
The School year had started in the great Guatemala City, and in zone 13, close to the International Airport, there is a school whose name transcends the boundaries of our country getting to be known as a school that confronts their students with God and His Truth, and brings them to His Path. Inside a room that back then used to be called Lab Room (since at some point it was used as the Science Lab for the school), there was an uneasy student with great ideas, dreams and aspirations and who could easily be expected to influence and impact his generation and those to come. Even though I was not much older than him, I was one of his teachers and I felt the great responsibility of contributing to the mission of the Christian School in Makko’s life, the writer of the book you hold in your hands today.
