    Introduction

Calin has fantasized about the vampiric fey, Ever, since they danced a year ago. When they meet again he waste no time in claiming and capturing her.  Once the sun rises, Ever can’t leave the earthly realm and is bound by fey lore to Calin. Though he has saved her from the sun, things get pretty hot in his arms. But she made a vow to her sisters to not leave them for a mortal man. She fights her feelings for Calin and seeks help from goddess Morrigan.

The goddess wants the tall, muscular mortal for herself. So she frees Ever to return underhill. It isn’t until Ever’s back with her sisters that she realizes her heart is still held captive by Calin. When Calin spurns Morrigan’s attentions, the goddess’s lust turns to vengeance. With the odds against him will Calin escape the goddess’ clutches, get Ever back from underhill and figure out a way to be with the woman he loves.

    One

Aithbhreac laced her fingers together and shook her hands. I am so excited. Her green eyes beamed. Blood. Dancing. She freed her hands and spread her arms. Who could ask for more?

No one, so let’s be off. When Ever stepped into the well, the water shifted to mist. Transported from underhill, the realm of the gods and the fey, to the modern Scottish Highlands, she materialized through a stone cairn.

She glanced at the navy-blue sky with a white dot gleaming upon it. The earth’s moon, she said as she headed for the road.

Though she heard the slight sound of her sisters’ footsteps as they trailed behind her, she didn’t turn around or acknowledge them. The sight ahead captured her full attention.

She gulped hard, recognizing the tall, muscular man strutting down the road. She’d danced with him about a year ago. A hot shiver hit her as she gazed at his chiseled, sun-tanned face and shiny black hair.

Without tearing her gaze from him, she came to a stop. It’s one of Ian’s brothers. She could hear the breathiness in her voice.

You mean Sorcha’s husband? That Ian?

She turned to Fuamnach who had asked the question. Ever hadn’t realized she’d spoken out loud.

Of course. What other Ian do we know?

We can’t drink his blood. Tearlag set one hand on her hip. He’s Sorcha’s brother by marriage. Since she’s our sister, I think that makes us related to him.

Hush. Ever rubbed her forehead. We’re not related to any humans.

He walked with an easy, confident stride, then fixed his piercing gaze on them. He must have heard their chatter.

When his eyes met hers, Ever’s breath grew shallow from his attention, but her body shook with guilt at the raw fear in his expression.

"Baobhan sith." He stepped backward, away from them, as if they were a ferocious wolf pack. Indeed, they could draw their deadly claws at any moment, as they had when they’d attacked him and his brothers a year ago.

Is your name Calin? Ever moved closer to him, gesturing to her four sisters to stay back. Do you remember me?

His jaw dropped. You! We danced…before your sister clawed Angus. His crinkled brow softened to a smooth forehead and the glassy look of fear in his eyes shifted to a dreamy, heavy-lidded look of desire.

I recall the dance. Though glad he no longer seemed afraid of her, she didn’t know what to make of the sudden change. Had one dance made such an impression on him after all this time? We mean you no harm. Your brother married our sister, so you are safe from us.

His gaze remained intense and his lips parted slightly. Well then. He opened his arms to her. Dance with me once more.

We can’t feed on him. Mordag curled her fingers gently around Ever’s arm. You know that.

Ever nodded. I danced with him a year ago and I didn’t drink his blood then. She couldn’t deny she hungered for him, but it wasn’t his blood she desired. I want to again. He had an unusual effect on her. Her breath grew faint and her pulse raced. Sensations of heat and energy surged through her as they had a year ago when they danced. Why? Was it because he was human?

As her name Eimhear sounded just like the English word ever, she was ever curious. Two of her sisters had found something with these human men that fey men didn’t have. Certainly this magnetic attraction to Calin proved to be stronger than she’d experienced with any fey man.

No, we were interrupted, then we all piled on top of Ian to try to save Sorcha, and this one got away. Fuamnach folded her arms across her chest.

Calan ignored her sisters and gazed only at Ever. We’ve waited a year. His eyes held a sensuous gleam. Let’s finish our dance.

Yes. The word flew from her lips before she could think. She longed to wrap her arms around his warm, muscular flesh just to dance with him, without trying to drain his blood.

I just came from the pub, it’s closed now. So we’ll have to dance here, in the middle of the field at night. He pulled her into his firm embrace.

"I often dance outside at night, such is the life of a baobhan sith." She locked her hands around his neck.

His vivid blue gaze met hers as he parted his lips and sang, I feel wonderful tonight. Step by step, they glided across the grass. You like Eric Clapton? He serenaded her as they
