    Holmes - Michael John Light

    Prologue One: Dead is Dead

Constable Evans lay on his bed, face pale as a ghost, the electronics about him humming along peacefully, the drip in his arm supplying nutrition to his unconscious body.

She suspected the older man knew what she was doing, but he was the sort that found it hard to speak what was in his heart. But she could feel the gratitude in his curt smiles when she would let him take over.

And the night before she had dozed off, not realizing it, and found a vase of roses by her with a thank you note. But no name.

    She smiled at the memory.

She shook her head as she gently shaped his hair so that is sweating didn’t leave it in his eyes. Such a handsome lad. Such a pity.

    She went
