After training as a clinical psychologist, Agnès Martin-Lugand worked in child protection for six years before devoting herself to writing. Her novels were initially self-published because she could not find a publisher willing to accept them, before the success of her first novel Happy People Read and Drink Coffee caught the attention of the French publishing house Michel Lafon. Since being published by the company, the novel has sold over 300 000 copies and been translated into several languages. Martin-Lugand has since written a series of other novels, one of which, Don’t Worry, Life Is Easy, has also been translated into English, and sold the film rights to Happy People Read and Drink Coffee.
