About this ebook

International bestselling author, Stacie Cobain, writes romance for a living. She splits her time between creating novels from her home in Paris and working with her agent and publisher in London. Due to her busy schedule, she doesn't have time for anything else…perhaps that's why her own love life is nonexistent.

The day before her best friend's wedding, Stacie fulfills her obligation at a book signing in London where she meets the sexy Quen Montcroix. When he asks for an autograph, he informs her it's for his mother and can't understand why she likes trite writing. His comment bothers her to the point she questions her career.

Later that evening, Stacie comes face-to-face with Quen once again. Only, this time, he's polite and apologizes, and it isn't long until they realize they're attending the same wedding.

Will the romantic atmosphere of the wedding cause Stacie to overlook Quen's insult and find Love in London? Or will she tuck tail and run back to Paris when he reveals the truth about himself?

Love in London - S.L. Stacker

    Chapter One

STACIE WOKE to an ear-piercing sound and groaned. She pried her eyes open. The sunlight beat through the crack in the curtains and assaulted her eyes. She snapped them closed. The action caused her already aching head to throb more.

Her fingers moved to each side of her head and rubbed her temples in a slow manner as she eased herself into a sitting position, throwing her legs over the edge of the bed. She remained stationary and continued to rub her head as she contemplated the best method to destroy the blaring alarm across the room. She drew a blank.

She shouldn’t have had the last drink last night. Hell, who was she kidding? She shouldn’t have had the first drink. She and alcohol were not best friends. In fact, they weren’t even friendly acquaintances. She despised drinking over one or two glasses of wine a night.

Slowly, she stood and made her way toward the wretched music emitting from her phone. She toyed with slamming the device into the wall, but she opted not to. At some point, she’d need it again, and besides, it’s not like the phone forced those tequila shots down her throat.

She blamed herself for drinking too much of the foul-tasting liquid, but her best friend, Paige, insisted she drink with her to celebrate her wedding tomorrow. She and Paige became best friends when Paige moved to Paris eight years ago.

When Paige came to her and told her she and Brent were getting married, Stacie sighed in relief. There was a month when Paige and Brent had communication issues and almost ended their relationship. Thankfully, they worked things out because the two complimented each other.

When Paige had given her the wedding date, Stacie looked at her schedule and saw she had a book signing scheduled on the date in London. When she’d relayed the information to Paige, her friend smiled and told her she and Brent planned to marry in London, and they’d move the date back one day because there was no way she’d get married without her maid of honor.

Stacie, Paige, and Elizabeth, Brent’s widowed best friend, flew to London a few days ago. They spent a couple of days sightseeing—Tower of London, London Eye, Kensington Palace, The Shard, and Westminster Abbey were only a few of the attractions they visited. Yesterday, after they met with the wedding coordinator, they returned to their hotel and spent the rest of the evening and night celebrating. It relieved Stacie the wedding was tomorrow because there’s no way she could stand another day of celebration without a day of rest.

When she finally reached her portable, she pressed the stop button on the device’s screen. The room once again was silent, although, it didn’t do much to relieve the pain in her head. She shrugged. At least it was quiet in the room.

She unplugged the portable from the charger and looked at the time. She had fifteen minutes before she needed to call into her publisher to verify the book signing time for this afternoon. Once it was over, she and the girls planned to drive from London to Rochford, Essex. The scheduled start time tomorrow morning was nine-thirty
