About this ebook

They say you must talk about everything you know. But, where erotica is involved you might have to waive this rule. Unless, there is a massive amount personal expertise to draw on, you must either ask somebody who does, obtain a stack of successful erotic books you just read, go online and keep yourself well-informed or make an informed guess in what might occur in many of the scenarios you reveal.

    How To Write Erotica

    (and sell like crazy)

They say you must talk about everything you know. But, where erotica is involved you might have to waive this rule. Unless, there is a massive amount personal expertise to draw on, you must either ask somebody who does, obtain a stack of successful erotic books you just read, go online and keep yourself well-informed or make an informed guess in what might occur in many of the scenarios you reveal.

    What is Erotica

Before we get stuck into what erotica is, let's consider how it is not. And the biggest mistake writers make when attempting erotica, is always to think it is pornography! It is not - it's considerably more subtle than that. Pornography is all about giving graphic details of the sexual acts - the nitty gritty if you love. Erotica concentrates on the emotional and psychological aspects, leaving the details for your own imagination. So, now we understand things to avoid here are what good erotica needs to be.

    1. As gripping as any other story!

Just when you are writing erotica it doesn't mean that you are able to overlook the plot. As well as having great sex scene's, there also needs to be the usual components of a gripping story, including complex, well written characters, a page-turning plot as well as the usual conflicts between your antagonist and protagonist. If you don't include this, no matter how good the sex scene are, your readers will turn off.

    2.  Choose your setting carefully.

Most people would, if they were built with a choice, have erotic encounters in luxurious surroundings, for example on an exotic beach by moonlight, in the playboy's penthouse apartment - think 'Fifty Shades of Grey' - or perhaps in the sumptuous surroundings of a elegant hotel. Of course, this is simply not always the case and often choosing unusual places, like an illicit, late-night tryst at the office or a chance meeting in the secluded wood, can provide highly charged erotic situations. However, dirty or squalid conditions are certainly not conducive to erotica, so avoid them.
