Chapter 1: Cannabis Cultivation for Yourself, by Yourself

Cannabis will go down in history as one of the most controversial plants of all time. More popularly known as marijuana, the plant is notorious for being the source of a substance that many people abuse for psychoactive effects. On the other side, there are researchers, health care professionals, manufacturers and tribesmen who back up the cultivation and use of the plant for medical, industrial and cultural purposes.

The first use of marijuana dates back to the ancient times. It has been integrated into different rituals and festivities since then. Take the Holi festival in India and Nepal as an example. It is believed that Indian traders brought the plant to Egyptians, and from there, the latter introduced it to other Africans. Slaves who were brought to the Americas were the ones who later on spread the practice of marijuana cultivation and consumption in the two continents.

In spite of its medical, industrial and cultural significance, many people still frown
