    Dark Night

    Princess Kora Nicole Sinclair stood on the hard gray cement balcony of her penthouse apartment looking out over the black, cold water of False Creek. The sky was heavy with dense dark clouds .

    She wondered what it would be like if she could launch herself from here and fly. Just open her arms fall then soar up into the black of night.

    The breeze was crisp even for her, for most humans it would have been bone chillingly cold in the sleeveless sheer black crepe, ankle length dress she wore, but she hardly felt it. Her straight shoulder length honey blonde hair swirled around her face and shoulders almost masking her dark flat ebony eyes. Being a hybrid human and vampire had its advantages at times.

    On her left were the lights of the Science Center—or as Vancouverites called it the Golf Ball—and before her twinkled a few street lights and boats bobbing in False Creek on this cold January evening. To her right were the viaduct and the lights of downtown Vancouver.

    Kora knew
