ELIAS

Springtime – the season when life blooms once again and winter’s cold grip is washed away by the warmth.

Elias watched out of the car window as the thick trees passed them by. The day was sunny and warm, the sun shining high in the sky with wispy clouds painted around it. Forest wildlife was bustling and busy, but Elias barely took notice of the beauty of the day.

His eyes were trained to the passing scenery but his mind was wandering elsewhere, recalling the events of the previous day.

He had been summoned by his Alpha, a man named Darrow. He was a strong, wise and kind leader to his people and had been so for the past twenty-five years, even before Elias had been born. He was well-loved and everyone in their homely little village had nothing but respect for him, including Elias.

But Darrow’s sudden news to Elias that day left him in a perpetual state of shock.
