Introduction

I have always had a movie mentality when it came to what love is and how one should express it.

Family is one of the most important structures in society. Throughout our lives, it is either we are in one, working towards one, or ignoring one. No matter who you are or what you do, you belong to a family, even if you don’t acknowledge it.

Since I got married, I came to understand that staying with someone is not easy at all. You would think it’s easier with your siblings or parents, but that‘s also not always the case. I grew up in a loving family, but until I gave my life to the Lord, I never realised how much they loved me. My mind was filled with unrealistic love expectations. As a teenager,  no meant, not loved to me; if you denied me what I wanted, it communicated that you don’t love me and if you reprimanded me, it meant you hated me.

This just shows how different love can be for different people. At that time, I honestly didn’t think my parents and sisters loved me at all.

I longed for their love so much, yet the major thing lacking was pure communication and understanding. I thank God for His saving grace.

Chapter 1

After saying I Do

Finding the one you love, and getting the opportunity to commit yourself to one another, is the most amazing and special thing anyone could go through. Yet, most of the time, most people focus and put in so much energy on the one big wedding day, instead of focusing on the life long journey that they are about to take. There is nothing wrong with having the wedding of your dreams, but it is so much more important to have a happy, life-long marriage.

Marriage is God’s idea and it should be done according to the way He intended it to be.
