About the Author
If I had just one message to tell the world, it would be to Love Yourself. But loving yourself isn’t that easy. Heck, I didn’t even used to like myself until I realized I have just me, and I need to love me as much as I can. So how do you do it?
First let’s talk about why it’s so important to love yourself. You already have friends and family who love you, why should you love you? Because it’s worth it. When you love yourself, you not only accept who you are, warts and all, but you’re also happy with who you are. You know your strengths, and you know that you’re not perfect, but that you’re still an amazing person who deserves every happiness. Your self-esteem increases and you’re not afraid of being alone.
The biggest reward in it is that you no longer feel the need to get validation from others. When you’re happy with yourself, you don’t need others to like you, and you don’t need their approval. And the funny thing is, people find it easier to love someone who already loves themselves. They don’t feel the burden of making you happy because you’re already happy. You attract good people and all sorts of good things to yourself. You become a magnet for everything amazing.
Loving yourself isn’t about being narcissistic. It’s about being happy with who you are, not being cocky and arrogant and thinking you’re better than everyone else. When you love yourself, you don’t feel the need to be better than others, just to become better than the older version of yourself.
I’m a big believer in the idea that dressing well is the easiest way of loving yourself. Which is why on my blog, TheSilverKickDiaries.com, I post outfits to show other women what I’m wearing and how I put it together, hoping I can inspire them to do the same. Taking pride in your appearance helps you love yourself and gives you so much more confidence. In this book I talk about fashion, personal style, and how to dress well without having to conform to fashion rules. It’s not about changing who you are to fit into a mould; it’s about being comfortable and happy with what you have and improving on it.
Passion, Society, Change
Loving yourself begins with many things from passion to finding out what you don’t like, to relying on your intuition. Let’s dig deeper.
Passion
I’ve always been the type of person who, no matter what I do, has to do it with passion. There’s no such thing as half-hearted for me. It’s not in my DNA. Either I’m into it or I’m not. Whether it’s a hobby, relationship, or a job. While this does mean that I fail terribly at a few things, I get immense happiness from doing the things I love. I’ve filled my life up with the things I’m passionate about, like my work, my blog, and being a fitness coach. These things keep me happy even when things aren’t so great.
Unless you discover what your passion is, you won’t truly be happy with yourself. It could be a hobby, what you do for a living, or simply how you do something. It’s the things that ignite a fire in your belly and put a smile on your face. Your eyes shine when you speak about these things, and you come alive when you’re doing them even when you’re exhausted. But what if you still don’t know what you’re passionate about? I find that a great way to find out what you do want is to know what
